Nickelodeon’s Are You Afraid of the Dark? at BEYOND FEST

Beyond Fest, the highest-attended genre film festival in the US, is excited to announce the premiere event of Nickelodeon’s Are You Afraid of the Dark? The three-part limited series event sees the return of the Midnight Society, with Beyond Fest bowing the first two episodes on Monday, Oct. 7. Courtesy of Nickelodeon, the special screening is an all-ages, family-friendly event built specifically for fans young and old and free to all guests with tickets obtained via RSVP (seating is subject to availability on a first-come, first-serve basis, details below).

Following the screening will be a special Are You Afraid of the Dark? panel with stars Lyliana Wray, Sam Ashe Arnold, Miya Cech and Jeremy Ray Taylor, ACE Entertainment’s Spencer Berman, writer BenDavid Grabinski, and director Dean Israelite. Berman, Grabinski and Israelite all serve as executive producers. The Are You Afraid of the Dark? panel will be followed by a 35mm screening of the ‘80s thrill-ride, The Gate, a film specially selected based on its shared sensibilities with the limited series.

DORA THE EXPLORER IS REAL!!!!!

Paramount Players announced today that the motion picture adaptation of Nickelodeon’s Peabody Award-winning children’s animated series, Dora the Explorer, began principal photography on location in Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, on Monday, August 6, 2018. The production, being directed by 11-time Emmy and four-time BAFTA nominee James Bobin (The Muppets, Muppets Most Wanted, “Flight of the Conchords”) marks the lovable Latina character’s big screen debut (and first live-action adaptation on any platform) after fourteen seasons (2000-2014) and 172 episodes on Viacom’s enduring children’s cable network. The film is a Paramount Players and Nickelodeon production in association with Walden Media. The film is being supported by the Queensland Government via Screenland Queensland. Paramount will release the film on August 2, 2019.

Nickelodeon today announced the development of Meet the Voxels (working title), an original TV, virtual reality and augmented reality series conceived by Chris Young, Senior Vice President of Nickelodeon’s Entertainment Lab. The animated sitcom, created in a game engine, marks a first for Nickelodeon in its use of cutting-edge virtual cinema technology, including real-time full body and facial performance capture, bringing an innovative approach to immersive storytelling. Nickelodeon’s Entertainment Lab is the network’s division established to spearhead long-range research and development around emerging platforms and new technology. Meet the Voxels is being developed to air across Nickelodeon’s channels globally.

Nickelodeon, the number-one network for kids, announced today that Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the reimagined 2D-animated series, has been greenlit for a second season with 26 episodes. The action-comedy follows the band of brothers, Raph, Leo, Donnie and Mikey, as they discover new powers and encounter a mystical world they never knew existed beneath the streets of New York City. Season two will begin production this fall at Nickelodeon’s headquarters in Burbank, Calif.

On Friday, July 20, Nickelodeon treated fans to an exclusive first look of the upcoming INVADER ZIM: Enter the Florpus TV movie during a panel at Comic-Con International: San Diego 2018. Moderated by Hector Navarro (Geek & Sundry, Nerdist), the panel reunited series creator Jhonen Vazquez with original voice cast members Richard Horvitz (ZIM), Rikki Simons (GIR), Wally Wingert (Almighty Tallest Red) and Kevin McDonald (Almighty Tallest Purple), and featured INVADER ZIM: Enter the Florpus art director Jenny Goldberg.

The panel featured a look at the history of INVADER ZIM, including classic moments from the original TV series and popular comics, and hinted at what’s to come in the upcoming TV movie, revealing an exclusive sneak peek of new artwork and first-look footage.

SDCC 2018: Rugrats Return!!

Viacom  flagship properties Nickelodeon and Paramount Pictures announced today a relaunch of the iconic kids’ TV series Rugrats, with a 26-episode greenlight from Nickelodeon, and a live-action film featuring CGI characters from Paramount Players. Both the TV series and the movie will include new adventures with beloved characters Tommy, Chuckie, Phil, Lil, Susie and Angelica, and will also introduce a new world of characters. Original creators Arlene Klasky, Gábor Csupó and Paul Germain will return to the TV series as executive producers. Nickelodeon’s Rugrats will be produced in Burbank, Calif., with production already underway. Additional news of the TV series, airdate and casting--and Reptar sightings--will be announced in the coming months.

First Look at Character Art from Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles


Nickelodeon Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Cartoon SeriesNickelodeon today revealed a first-look of the characters in its brand-new animated series, Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which follows the band of brothers as they discover new powers and encounter a mystical world they never knew existed beneath the streets of New York City. The 2D-animated series debuts later this year on Nickelodeon.

Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reimagines the characters in a fresh new way, featuring jagged-shelled Raphael as a snapping turtle, wielding twin tonfas as his weapons; Leonardo as a red-eared slider, using an ōdachi sword; Donatello as a soft-shell turtle, sporting a tech-bo staff; and Michelangelo as a box turtle, arming himself with a kusari-fundo. Along for the adventure is the Turtles’ most trusted ally, April O’Neil, a street savvy native New Yorker and Splinter, father figure and sensei to the Turtles.

Nickelodeon announced today that WWE Superstar John Cena is returning to host the 2018 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards for the second time, while also breaking new ground at the network with two firsts: Cena will get into character by lending his voice to an original villain named Baron Draxum in the brand-new 2D animated series Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, premiering late 2018; and is executive producing the brand-new competition series, Keep It Spotless, where teams of kids go head-to-head in a battle to stay clean.

Nickelodeon Announces Voice Cast of Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Series

Nickelodeon today announced the voice cast of its all-new series, Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, a reimagining that follows the band of brothers as they encounter new allies and villains and discover a mystical world they never knew existed beneath the streets of New York City. The 2D-animated series stars the voice talent of Omar Miller (Ballers) as Raphael, Ben Schwartz (Parks and Recreation) as Leonardo, Josh Brener (Silicon Valley) as Donatello, Brandon Mychal Smith (You’re The Worst) as Michelangelo and Kat Graham (The Vampire Diaries) as April O’Neil. The series is set to debut in 2018 on Nickelodeon.

TTPM 2017 Holiday Showcase: Playmates Mysticons Toy Line

We gave the merest mention of this line at Toy Fair 2017 via images of the wall outside of the playmates booth...and nothing more! While the toy line was on display (in prototype form), we were not allowed to do any shooting, so the toys would have to remain a mystery...UNTIL TODAY! Thanks to the TTPM Holiday Showcase, we've got pics of the entire first round of toys!

Playmates Toys, the innovative toy company behind the monumental success of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, will act as the global master toy partner for Mysticons, while Nickelodeon serves as the global broadcast partner, including in the U.S. Episodes began airing at the end of August.

Hey Arnold! fans got off their stoops for Nickelodeon’s Hey Arnold!: From Hillwood to the Jungle! at San Diego Comic-Con 2017 on Friday, July 21. Marc Snetiker (Entertainment Weekly) moderated a panel of the series’ classic voice actors Lane Toran (Arnold), Jamil Walker Smith (Gerald), Francesca Marie Smith (Helga), and Anndi McAfee (Phoebe), and the new generation of talent featured in the upcoming TV movie—Mason Vale Cotton (Arnold) and Benjamin “Lil’ P-Nut” Flores, Jr. (Gerald). Original series creator Craig Bartlett and composer Jim Lang were also featured on the one-of-a-kind panel, which treated fans to an exclusive first-look clip of the Hey Arnold! TV movie, brand-new character art and more.

Nickelodeon treated fans to an exclusive sneak peek of the upcoming TV special Rocko’s Modern Life: Static Cling, based on the classic ‘90s hit series Rocko’s Modern Life, during a panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2017 on Thursday, July 20. Moderated by Marc Snetiker (Entertainment Weekly), the panel reunited the original series’ voice actors Carlos Alazraqui (Rocko), Tom Kenny (Heffer), Doug Lawrence (Filbert) and Charlie Adler (Mr. Big Head and Mrs. Big Head), and featured series creator Joe Murray and Rocko’s Modern Life: Static Cling director Cosmo Segurson.

Back into the San Diego Comic-Con Exclusives files with Playmates who have a lineup of collectibles based on the mega-popular Netflix Voltron and Nickelodeon's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated series! While the Voltron set can be considered a "sneak preview" (as they will pop up in Toys R Us stores soon), the Nickelodeon booth will only be unloading 350 of the Usagi Yojimbo set at SDCC (with no word of where the rest will be on sale), so expect this one to be a piece folks will be battling over...

Nickelodeon will take viewers on a spooky Halloween adventure throughout Bikini Bottom with the brand-new, stop-motion special, SpongeBob SquarePants: The Legend of Boo-Kini Bottom.  In the visual style of classic stop-motion animation TV specials, The Legend of Boo-Kini Bottom tells the story of the Flying Dutchman (Brian Doyle Murray) who wants to make sure everyone in town is scared, especially SpongeBob, who thinks scary things are funny.  The special will premiere in October 2017 on Nickelodeon.

Invader Zim Returns to Nickelodeon in All-New Original TV Movie

Nickelodeon officially announced today the greenlight for an all-new, 90-minute Invader Zim TV movie from original creator Jhonen Vasquez, marking the network’s third animated property from its rich library of content to be reimagined for today’s audience. The 2D-animated TV movie, produced by Nickelodeon in Burbank, will show the latest and greatest ridiculous attempt at world domination by the universe’s worst alien invader ever. The movie will also feature original voices from the fan-favorite television series.

Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Premiering March 19

Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello and Michelangelo return in Nickelodeon’s season five anthology series, Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, on Sunday, March 19, at 9:00 a.m. (ET/PT), which follows the Turtles through a variety of action-packed and bizarre adventures that have never been seen before. Produced at Nickelodeon in Burbank, premieres from the new 20-episode season will continue to air Sunday’s at 9:00 a.m. (ET/PT) on Nickelodeon.

Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles captures seven distinct stories from the hero brothers’ past and future, including their early days in New York City, encounters with villains and friends, and a peek into their distant, but wild future. Throughout the season, fans can expect to see both new and familiar friends and foes as each tale unfolds.
