Heather Buckley VS New York Comic Con 2012: Day 2 & 3

We sent Heather Buckley to New York Comic Con 2012 to discover the wonders of this nerdy oasis in the heart of the mean city, knowing full well her horror convention instincts would lead her to adventure. We found Heather, crumpled and beaten, at the bottom of the stairs at Midtown Comics. It seems she stayed alive just long enough to write up this blog, edit her pictures and pen a lengthy odyssey-like tale of love and loss starring Peter Weller and Philip K. Dick. It was a buddy movie. The latter will be released in 2016, when Peter Weller has ripened. For now...this is Heather Buckley's Comic Con tale...

  ABOUT LOYD:

My key goal today was to meet Christopher Lloyd. It was 50 bucks for his autograph and I had my Christopher Lloyd sack with me it case he could be captured and displayed in my parlor. I even posted the price and banner with Lloyd’s name on it to crowd source my answer: do I do it?

I mean, Lloyd is getting up there and when I was 14 years old, we were asked to write a letter to our favorite person and I picked him. I made my Mother tape every Taxi episode he was on. I loved him in Back to the Future, One Flew over the Cuucook’s Nest, Amazing Stories... I had to meet him, even if it was for one second. I needed a brush with Lloyd greatness.

Heather Buckley VS New York Comic Con 2012: Day 1

Some press folks rush home from their daily toils at conventions to post their scoops, sneaks and rumors. We here at Idle Hands like to ruminate on our findings, letting them gel until the consistency of a fine paste we can use to affix the geektastic informations like a Motley Crue tour poster engaged to a brick wall..forever intertwined. We sent Heather Buckley out into the microcosm of New York Comic Con to experience the show as only a Heather Buckley could. This...is her story.

DAY ONE:

NERD HORDE
I got to Jacob Javits Center the earliest I could on October 13th in the year of our Time Lord 2012. After being ushered into the industry entrance, I was given a Walking Dead badge (a female zombie, claw grasped around a gate for Press) and moved my way though a rainbow of nerds, geeks, and fan boys in various states of fancy dress.

I saw a slew of anime demon girls with candy corn horns—wondering all along whom they were supposed to be and why there were so many have them. I saw lots of Catwomen in all shapes and controversial sizes. 15,000 female Lokis (the new Catwoman for Cosplay?) and Ghostbusters. Some commented on my bihawk and asked who I was dressed as (“I am dressed as Heather Buckley, maybe you should try it sometime.”).  All this attempting to get to my candy apple goal: Bruce Timm.

The Arrow Footage from New York Comic Con 2012

Fresh off its triumphant series premiere which was the most-watched new show debut on The CW Network in over three years and also the most-watched telecast of any kind on the network in three years, the new series Arrow (Wednesdays 8/7c on The CW) struck a Gotham bulls-eye today during its first-ever appearance at New York Comic Con.

Just days after the show’s launch, Arrow stars Stephen Amell (Oliver Queen), Katie Cassidy (Laurel Lance) and Willa Holland (Thea Queen) appeared at the show’s panel session and unveiled an exclusive, action-packed highlight reel created specifically for NYCC, featuring a sneak peek at footage from the show’s first nine episodes.

NYCC 2012: Costumes Round 1..FIGHT!

At this point, anyone who recognizes me at a show (all 3 of you..and I thank you) knows I do both San Diego and New York Comic Cons, so I am often asked if there are any outstanding differences between the two. I will name one glaring one. ETHNICITY!! Mirroring the many colored skins of the many different races across New York City, the show floor of New York Comic Con has a fantastic range of people from all walks of life donning costumes purely for the love of it. That's not to say SDCC doesn't draw folks from across the planet...just at NYCC, it stands out a bit more. Also extremely relevant; those old stereotypes about agro New York people go out the window and I can honestly say every damn one of you was incredibly awesome to me every second of the show. At any rate, we proudly present the first round of Costume/Cosplayer pictures from New York Comic Con 2012.

The Evil Dead Trailer!

The best horror trailer I've seen in a very long time has been leaked...as is the way of the interwebs! Take a look before it gets disappeared! Thanks to NuketheFridge for the scoop...
UPDATE: The Nuke the Fridge bootleg has been sacked. All responsible have fled the country. IGN has the goods though!

As you can see, the new film promises to be a meaner, crazier, more visceral animal. Bruce Campbell himself, when I inquired as to how violent the new film was going to be, asked me what I thought about a Nail Gun and a whooooole lot of nails? The trailer confirms an iconic possessed hand, plenty of demonic activity and even alludes to TREE RAPE!! What more could you ask for? Evil Dead promises to mirror those moments you love while presenting the entire experience in a whole new light. "Fucked Up" seems to have been the magic phrase while shooting! I can't wait for more.

Movies!! Bastards. CommingSoon tipped us off and now, we can show you the blazing glory that is the coming of a mentally unbalanced Chloe Moretz!! Let's watch...

Angry Birds Assimilate Star Wars

It's the mash up....practically no one asked for...or dreamed about!!!

But there will be toys...and jenga...and most likely a Star Wars edition of the game amid all the plush and T Shirts. .....maybe a game...but after the T Shirts.

The Angry Birds Tumblr says to be at the Times Square Toys R Us at 8am...or 10am..they aren't really clear on the point. I'm betting we'll be seeing some merch when we do drinks with Hasbro right before New York Comic Con 2012 next week. STAY TUNED...if not for this earth shattering announcement...then for stuff you really care about.
