Cryptid Toys Army Alphas Kickstarter 01In a world where we beg the major companies to make ANY sort of affordable army builders for our shelf set-ups and/or toy photography needs, a company willing to fill that void in our plastic loving lives should be applauded. Suffice to say, NOW IS YOUR CHANCE TO THROW MONEY!! Cryptid Toys have whipped up a Kickstarter for a full line of army builder action figures in your oh-so-favored 6 inch scale including SHIELD and Hydra look-alikes alongside SWAT Team members, modern soldiers, wetworks operatives and more. If these get fully funded, you can expect more to come! Here are the details and links where you should aim all your cash...

At long last, 6” scale military/SWAT figures have arrived! This line of figures is made to fit right in with your existing Marvel Legends, DC Multiverse, or other 6” scale lines. The focus while creating these figures was in three areas: Articulation, Customization, and Compatibility.

Discovery Times Square Launches Marvel’s Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N. This Friday

The Rising Tide is Watching the Marvel Universe

Is it for the long awaited Hulk TV series? Is this the first teaser for ABC's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.? No concrete answers yet, but we do know Disney is preparing a boat load of viral teasers/ materials and The Rising Tide will be behind it all. Stay tuned!

UPDATE! More crappy "found footage" viral. Yay.

Ya know...if you are going to do viral in the Marvel Universe, at least nod toward something we know! Hole in the street? How about some evidence of a Mole Man attack?! S.H.I.E.L.D. agents in bio-suits? What about a car with a green glowing handprint on the hood tipping us off to a possible Radioactive Man sighting! C'moooon. Give us something to chew on!

Aside from my bitching, our theory here at Idle Hands is that the Rising Tide is a sort of hacker watchdog website looking to expose S.H.I.E.L.D. to the public, as the public at large doesn't even know they exist. Will this be a part of the show? No idea, but it's a nice angle for viral. Now...nod to something geeky already!!

Thanks to Bleeding Cool for the tip on these.

Toy Fair 2012: The Avengers Movie SHIELD Helicarrier

We finally found three spare minutes to take a better look at our materials from UK Toy Fair and were able to coax the digital gods to spit out a bigger picture of the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier! It's still not brilliant, but it is good enough to drool over until the NY Toy Fair at which we will take 300 more pics that will make you lick your screen. When I was a kid, the fine folks behind G.I.Joe decided your collection wouldn't be complete without a giant aircraft carrier to launch your jet off of. Now Hasbro makes the dreams of Marvel Zombies come true, using the upcoming Avengers film release as the perfect excuse to unleash this vehicle/playset. While it doesn't look a lot like the comic version (or at all), at least it shows Hasbro is willing to try the big stuff for the Marvel line! We've been getting the shaft for years in favor of Transformers..G.I.Joe..Star Wars ONCE A YEAR ..basically everything BUT Marvel has gotten an expansive universe. Here's the info again...

S.H.I.E.L.D Helicarrier
- The Biggest ever Marvel vehicle at 3 ft long! Features heavily in the upcoming Avengers movie as our heroes' base. Comes with a Captain America 3.75 inch figure and has 4 projectile firing deck cannons.

You'll remember Michael Meyers (the artist, not the stabby killer or the Wayne's World dude) first showed us the concept art for this vehicle back in August. (as revealed on ScreenRant)

It's a shame Hasbro isn't using the release of The Amazing Spider-Man to give us more characters from the vast comic Spideyverse. We hear that whole toy line is packed with Spider-Man, Lizard and not much else. Honestly I'd forgive 20 variations on Spider-Man including "Gone Fishin", "Wrestlemania Fan" and "Stamp Collector" Spideys so long as we get that Helicarrier. Thank you bro!

Toy Fair 2012: MORE Avengers Movie Toys

I can only imagine these tips are coming in from UK Toy Fair at this point, since that show is underway as we speak. This round, we get a beautiful (albeit tiny) look at the vehicles from the Avengers movie line which confirm both a Quinjet AND a S.H.I.E.L.D Helicarrier!!! Here are the press blurbs...

Hammer Strike Thor - This Thor electronic figure is ready for any battle. Thor boasts an electric sound bank and signature projectile play - Thor throws his hammer. Features great try me action on the shelf.

Gamma Strike Hulk - This 10" Hulk is ready for any battle. press his chest to hear powerful phrases and sounds from the upcoming Avengers film. Watch Hulk hero up on shelf with a dynamic new battle smash try me!

Battle Chargers Assortment - The Avengers assortment of battle chargers come packed with features. Either pull back motors to fly into action or projectile firing weapons to take down the enemy.

Stark Tek Battle Vehicles - The Avengers battle the bad guys in high tech vehicles! Designed by Tony Stark himself, these sleek 4x4's and jets (AKA the Quinjet!!) are outfitted with lots of weapons and projectiles for a great hero play experience! Includes a 3.75" hero figure.

Avengers Quinjet - (..Which looks less like the Quinjet than the other Quinjet, but who cares as long as we get the damn thing!) The "Quin" tinsential Avengers vehicle! (yesh..i see what you did there.) This flying fortress can convert into battle mode and take the Avengers into the fight with plenty of firing projectiles and play features- like a sky cycle! An absolute must-have for kids and Marvel fans. Includes Iron Man figure.

S.H.I.E.L.D Helicarrier - The Biggest ever Marvel vehicle at 3 ft long! Features heavily in the upcoming Avengers movie as our heroes' base. Comes with a Captain America 3.75 inch figure and has 4 projectile firing deck cannons.

Avengers Hero Chest Light - (Yes..chest lights. Welcome to the future.) Just attach Iron Man's Arc Reactor or Captain America's Mission Star to your shirt and become the hero. Each hero light features heroic phrases and sounds.

Hero Mask Assortment - Every kid wants to be an Avenger! Choose your favorite hero and join the battle with Avengers movie masks! (what..no Black Widow wigs?! Jip. I'd also like a Black Widow Hero Chest Light. 2 of them. It's just sexist not to.)

A quick note on the alien army of The Avengers: My money WAS on Frost Giants who are now leaderless, but what is up with the purple laser blasts we see in the trailer? I guess it would be easy enough for Loki to outfit his army with weapons. Here's another point though..if it IS the Frost Giants, why is everyone looking and shooting upward? Def seems like some invading force complete with ships. Why else would the Avengers need Quinjets?

CLICK HERE for images of action figures from Hasbro's Avengers movie toy line!

NOTE: Our images above may have originated at http://theredshadows.proboards.com/, though the book these images appear in is available to all at UK Toy Fair. We'd just like to cover all bases.

Bringing Marvel Comics' Thor to Life

It's a challenge, to be sure. First you've got to sort through decades of fantastic story to strike the right notes, merging an origin story with enough action to make people scream for more. Then you've got to find a way to make characters from Norse mythology accessible to the common guy on the street along with adjustments to their borderline Shakespearean way of speaking. Finally, you've got to assemble a cast worthy of this epic tale and put it all in the hands of a Director with vision and extreme intestinal fortitude! Kenneth Branagh takes the reins of a colossal tale rooted in our reality. Want to hear what you are in for right from the cast themselves? Hit the vid and drink it in!
