Hasbro's Marvel Gamerverse Action Figures Claim an Extra Life
It's been some time since Hasbro premiered their Marvel Gamerverse 3.75 inch action figure line with Iron Man vs Mega Man X, which came as an awesome surprise for toy fans in general and a mind blowing product drop for longtime Capcom Vs fans. With the popularity of Twitch on the rise and celebrity gamers in the press daily, it should come as no surprise that toy companies would be paying more attention to video game properties, especially when they already own a license for half the characters!

Venom Trailer Shows Its Teeth ...and So Do The Fans
There's going to be lengthy discussions over this one!! Earlier today, Sony's VENOM trailer leaked out of Russia (via CinemaCon, which is in the US), prompting Sony to release it in full HD for press to get their grubby mitts on and possibly head off a lot of negative talk based on blurry, low res cam footage. NO SUCH LUCK!! The geek forums all over Facebook are already buzzing with both negative and positive points. Some say it's spot on (which it pretty much is) to the comic art and could not be more perfect. They are excited to see more of Hardy, fully suited in action. Others say yea, it looks just like the comic. It didn't work in Spider-Man 3 and it doesn't work now. From there, you'll find more than one comparison to the 97' Spawn movie...which is not meant as a compliment, and some comments about the odd way Hardy seems to be finely tuning every syllable of every word coming out of his mouth. Want to join the conversation? Here's the eye candy...

Toy Fair 2018: Hasbro's Marvel Toy Lineup
Ready your bank account and hide your wallet...it's time to tabulate how broke you are going to be for the rest of the year!! Marvel Legends have been a blessing and a curse to Marvel Comics and Marvel Cinematic Universe fans alike. With an average 23 dollar price point for each figure and a Build-A-Figure in each wave, taunting you to buy the lot in one go, we may as well be signing our bank accounts over to Hasbro! Well friends, we have news for you. IT'S GOING TO GET WORSE!! With the Black Panther wave having just settled into retail stores across the globe, we've gotten word that the Spider-Man Lizard BAF wave is also hitting hard, with the Deadpool Sasquatch BAF wave close behind...and bringing up the rear across the waters in international territories, the Avengers Infinity Wars wave!!! Do the math on that. It means we are all eating ramen for a couple of months. Let's take a look at the run down for 2018, exploring the much sought after Legends and the "kid targeted" lines alike to get a clear view of the insanity coming up fast.

Marvel's Morbius The Living Vampire Movie In Development at Sony
The future of our beloved New York wall crawling hero on the big screen is always a tumultuous one. Just when we've breathed a sigh of relief in Marvel Studios bringing Spider-Man back into their loving embrace, we note his conspicuous absence in the opening Marvel art on every MCU movie. Though Sony's own Spider-verse plans have been jumping around just like a spider can, they've, at the very least, shown a great deal of forward momentum in trying new things in the hopes they will strike gold, and win the hearts of old school comic collectors AND MCU film freaks all at once. Most recently, we've been getting little bits on their progress with a Venom film starring Tom Hardy and a Silver Sable/ Black Cat film (which will most definitely NOT be titled "Precariously Placed Zippers"). Now, still (most likely) banking on the possibility of future Rated R super hero action pay dirt (see Fox's Deadpool), they've sought to make things all the more creepy...

2017 Holiday Geekbook: Marvel: Spider-Man 1000 Dot-To-Dot Book
Marvel: Spider-Man 1000 Dot-To-Dot Book reviewed by Evelynn Faith Moon
I was pretty pumped to be given this book to play with, like all good comic book geeks I would LOVE to be as gifted as the artists I read on the page, so a dot to dot book seems like one avenue to fulfil my fantasy of creating a Marvel masterpiece. I am a big fan of your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man and Thomas Pavitte is known for creating a dot to dot version of the Mona Lisa, which is no small feat. I was excited to dive in and see what he did with some familiar faces.
I feel like an idiot now that I’m looking at the cover again it literally says “Spider Man 1000”, so that should have been my first clue as to how many dots I was in store for.

A Venom Movie Is Coming Sooner Than You Think
Shock and awe!! Perhaps backed by expectations of the re-invigoration of the Spider-Man movie franchise due in no small part to the character's "Homecoming" in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Sony (Columbia) has decided to grab an October 5th, 2018 release date previously occupied by Warner Bros. Aquaman (now bumped to December, 2018, for whatever reason) for VENOM! This info, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter and tipped to us by Heidi at Comics Beat, starts with a YAY and sort of ends with a HUH?
CB reports:
It’s written by Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinker, the latter of whom wrote the pretty poorly received The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
As for the Director, THR reports that there is NO one in the chair just yet.

Toy Fair 2017: Hasbro Teases Upcoming Marvel Action Figure Releases *UPDATED: 2/4*
We've been tipped off by Marvelousnews (via Facebook) about a "rumored" batch of Marvel legends listings. We were familiar with the website they named as the source so we did a little digging and found the listings. Since retailers aren't in the habit of listing things for sale that don't exist, we are going to call this one confirmed! Time will tell I suppose, but really, why list if it's not real? They have better things to do. Here's what's on tap, if the website is to be believed...

The Spider-Man: Homecoming Trailer is EVERYTHING
There are areas of the Marvel Universe that have made it to the big screen and yet, never quite captured the full perfection of its comic book counterparts. The X-Men stand as the most glaring abuse with countless films that ignore the core systems that made the comic so popular in favor of explosions, FX gimmicks that never fully pull the trigger and over use of a shirtless Hugh Jackman. Spider-Man has been another pitiable character with countless award winning comics and yet, each film crew seems to understand how to capture part of that magic, but not the whole mindblowing experience. There always seemed to be something missing. Now, we've come to the first trailer for the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Spider-Man: Homecoming. I've had very few expectations going in. Peter Parker's debut in Captain America: Civil War was extremely satisfying but we'd not fully seen his world. Now we get a nice, long look...and it's everything I've always wanted.

E3 2016: Sony Delivers A Mighty Backhand with Zombies, Giant Monsters, Rampaging Robots & More
By Justin DePaul
Just as E3 remains ever the premiere convention for showing off the latest and most innovative video games the world will eagerly await, it is also the prime location for the titans of hardware to step up and prove to the gaming community why we should sink our heard earned dollars into their platform. This year, Sony took the stage and practically dared anyone to challenge them.
Sony's conference at E3 2016 was a well paced and console/exclusive-heavy showing. Starting the show off with a full orchestral overture lead by Bear McCready, they lead right into the first demo which surprised us with an older, bearded and much less screamy Kratos teaching his son to hunt and de-horn the occasional flaming rock carrying creature that crosses their path. This new installment of the God of War series will take on the original PS2 game's name, simply being called God of War, but appears to offer an open world setting that flows more fluidly then its predecessors and will allow the player to explore and discover different regions of the map as you progress. A release is set for December of 2017.

Gentle Giant Dives Into Marvel's Secret Wars with Jumbo Retro Action Figures
While Marvel Comics is about to blast headlong into yet another Secret War, Gentle Giant prefer to remember the original event that introduced Spider-Man's black costume, birthed a new baddie for She-Hulk to pound on and answered the question....what would happen if you dump a mountain on top of The Hulk? Marvel's Secret Wars was crazy fun for me as a kid and now, our statue making friends will rekindle that love with jumbo 12 inch reproductions of what were really the first straight up Marvel action figures for most of us! The line kicks off with Black Suited Spider-Man, due out the third quarter of 2015. Here's the skinny...

Guardians of the Galaxy Explore Venom's Home World
This November, dare to venture where no hero in the Marvel Universe has ever gone before as the Guardians of the Galaxy find themselves stranded on the home world of the Symbiotes! It all kicks off this November in Planet of the Symbiotes, the newest storyline beginning in Guardians of the Galaxy #21, from blockbuster writer Brian Michael Bendis and Marvel All-New Young Gun artist Valerio Schiti!
Ever since the Symbiote bonded with Flash Thompson, he has wielded it as a force for good, making the Earth a safer place as the hero known as Venom. Only the far reaches of space are a little bit out of his depth – even when he’s packing a crazed alien costume!
“Isn’t it interesting after all this time, we’ve never seen the Symbiote’s home planet?” says Executive Editor Mike Marts. “What does the planet look like? How will they respond to Agent Venom? It’s a lot of mystery, which is always fun. But come November, we’ll be adding to the Symbiote mythology in some new and exciting ways.”

Quake in Fear at the Amazing Spider-Man 2 Collector's Edition Blu-ray Set
The film is almost upon us, so what better time to start pre-orders for the Blu-ray collector's edition set?! Feast your eyes on one of the ugliest Blu-ray cases to date. I say "one of" because some companies don't really set the bar high when it comes to the sculpting and painting of these things. Well..most companies. This particular abomination includes a horrible actor likeness (Jamie Foxx must be weeping), features that probably came from an early, practical FX test for the character's movie look (which I will add, is not how he looks in the film) and subtle, sculptural details super-fans will appreciate...like what is left of Electro's toasted ears after his "fatal" accident and powered up re-birth. I can't imagine a set more unappealing than this. I suppose they couldn't get the rights for a "slowly dying Norman Osbourne" head sculpt.

Our Plastic Friends: Marvel Select Rhino
Welcome to the first edition of Our Plastic Friends, where we check out a new toy and make you want it so bad, you hate us for it. It's a calling.
Diamond Select/ Marvel Select have had a 7 inch scaled action figure license for Marvel Comics for some time now. The sculpts are excellent, the paints are clean and plentiful and the quality is top notch. If there was one thing I could point out with this line that we DO continually moan about is the character choice. After all, we've got Hasbro cranking out endless numbers of Spider-Man, Iron Man and Captain America action figures...WE DON'T NEED NO MO!! There's also a matter of a 6 inch scale most of us toy obsessed folks have been collecting for years, so while we don't need 7 inch standard sized heroes and villains, we do welcome gargantuan monsters and overly pumped up, roid ragin humans who look like they can swallow up our heroes in one gulp. Give us giant sized Marvel characters and we'll just throw our money at you as we pass..all day long. THIS is where Marvel Select slides in like an 8 foot ninja with no smoke bombs.
