Indie Scifi Spotlight: The Paradise Planets: The Fallen from Paradise

In 2132 AD, fifteen-year-old Kassiana’s life was royalty. Born on Nemal, the richest of the Paradise Planets, she had no idea how the people of Earth–the Gaians–suffered. But her idyllic and harmonious life was shattered when she was forcefully kidnapped and taken to live among them on a flooded Earth. There, the Gaians were divided by their assigned star scores, surviving on meager food rations, and under the constant threat of sonic beatings from the U.N.O.E. mediation officers. Singing in nearly-fluent Evéik to power up their wetsuits, Gaians contended against each other in the Siren Games–the foremost sporting competition in all the worlds–just to win a passport and be allowed entry to a Paradise planet.

Now fallen from Paradise, worlds away from home, and with an increasing realization that no rescue is coming, Kassi must learn to survive as the lowliest of the Gaians and find some way to win the Siren Games–her only hope of ever seeing home again.

Found Footage Horror film THE OUTWATERS Hits Theaters

The buzz around the film has been growing steadily since its successful festival run and culminated when its teaser trailer was shown ahead of Terrifier 2, which was also distributed by Cinedigm and Bloody Disgusting, this past October. Resident Evil...it seems like a no-brainer. The stalwart surviving members of Racoon City PD, lead by their most elite in the S.T.A.R.S. Unit, battle their way through a ravaged cityscape and quickly find that the undead hordes are not their biggest problem. An army of monstrous creations including lickers, brain suckers, chimera, hunters, the hulking Nemesis and an unholy terror simply called "William" awaited players around every narrow corner while very human adversaries schemed to flee the scene with any ill-gotten gains to continue their nightmarish work in another random city. You'd think there's enough here to cobble together 3 to 5 excellent horror/scifi films. YOU'D THINK!! Despite the depressing nature of the live-action Resident Evil movie series and a lackluster, half-hearted TV show, we can still hold out hope that some renegade team can pull out a win with blood-soaked animation. ...Cross your fingers, folks.

In 1983, the Ideal Toy Company introduced the "sticky-icky creatures from another dimension", the Action Aliens known as the Manglors. Comprised of both ferocious warriors and incredible creatures, these beings "made of the strangest stuff on earth" - sorbothane - were stretchy, sticky, clay-like monstrosities. The incredible box art by the late, great Ken Kelly promised the ultimate warriors of terror, but a perplexing marketing decision prompting kids to tear them apart doomed the line. Not even the addition of the amazing Prehi-Storage Eggs in 1984 could save the Manglors from tumbling into the toyboxes of obscurity.
