Falling Skies: Season 4 Preview

In a world where aliens have come to take control of the planet and either enslave or destroy the populace, a relatively quiet walk across the country side where nothing is on fire can be taken for granted! Of course, the fires are lovely in the crisp winter months. The theme of "Falling Skies" season 4 seems to be evolution. The show adopts the "several stories happening concurrently" model that has proven so successful with "The Walking Dead" and "Game of Thrones". This allows for maximum storytelling with minimum time (most likely another 10 episode season).

We flash forward several months very quickly. From here on in, it's going to be very difficult to give details without spoiling the whole set-up, so I'll be careful not to mention much beyond the imagery you've glimpsed in the trailers! Just be warned, there will be some mild spoilers ahead.

The heroes (and not so heroic) of the 2nd Mass have been split up into 4 story lines...

1. Tom, Hal, Pope and Weaver keep their heads down, looking for ways to thwart the Espheni (with a new, creepy form) and their advanced, seemingly unstoppable technology. Well..maybe not Pope so much. While they look for a weakness, Tom does whatever he can to keep hope alive because THAT'S WHAT TOM DOES!! All kidding aside, the way he goes about it is pretty fun, though short lived.

2. Anne, Anthony and the remnants of the 2nd Mass struggle to keep it together and find some purpose. Anne has been separated from her daughter, so her ultimate goal is clear. She's angry...hardened by pain and loss..and willing to drive her small army into the ground unless someone sets her mind right.

3. Little Matt is growing up quickly and coming into his own, attempting to be a rebel leader in the face of Hitler-Youth style tactics. The Espheni have acknowledged the ways they waged war before were yielding poor results, so it seems they've taken a few pages from our history books. Whatever the tactic, one thing is clear, The Espheni are desperate to win the war, with a fighting force in tact...as something possibly more sinister closes in.

4. Ben and Maggie find themselves in a place more frightening than any location they've had to call home...one untouched by war. Of course Ben doesn't trust this peace, especially when Maggie is acting a little off and Lourdes has slipped right off the deep end...and his sister Lexi is becoming...something...else.

"Ghost in the Machine" (airing June 22nd) and "The Eye" (airing June 29th) lay ample ground work for inner turmoil, epic battle, and impending supernatural insanity. If you thought a talking baby was odd...I'd say we are in for some next level strange in future episodes!

Falling Skies Seas 4 premieres this Sunday! Check local listings for time and channel.
