Remember the 90's? I WAS THERE!! Toward the mid to late 90's, it seemed like anyone with a self published comic and a dream could get action figures made of their ultra cool exxxtreeeeme characters. Was plastic cheaper then? Was China having a sale on the production of busty, scantily clad female hero action figures? I DO NOT KNOW. Comics like Hellina, Ghost, Ash, Double Impact, Brigid and Ultra Force all got their characters immortalized in plastic from companies large and small...and then it all stopped. These days, it takes a great deal of word of mouth and estimated potential income to get any company to agree to making action figures from any property, even if it's a very well known movie from our past. Luckily, we've got folks like Fresh Monkey Fiction who step up to utilize the power of crowdfunding to give our underappreciated comic book heroes their day in the sun.
Amazing Heroes was born out of the idea of creating an action figure line that could combine many of our favorite indy comic book heroes into an overall line of collectibles. For over 2 years, FMF have been working closely with legendary comic creators such as Erik Larsen (Savage Dragon), Mike Allred (Madman), Steve Rude (Nexus), Jim Starlin (Dreadstar), Mike Grell (Jon Sable), Joe Staton (E-Man), Paul Grist (Jack Staff), Bob Burden (Flaming Carrot), Vito Delsante (Stray), Dean Haspiel (Red Hook), Michael T. Gilbert (Mr. Monster), Devin Murphy (Remo Williams) and many more to bring this amazing collection to life.
Fresh Monkey Fiction is launching to fund 12 figures, but aim to hit stretch goals to unlock over 20+ new Amazing Heroes figures. Each Amazing Heroes Reborn figure measures at 1:18 scale (around 4") with 14 points of articulation, includes extra accessories and a display stand. The initial, unlocked 12 include Nexus, Jon Sable, Savage Dragon, Malcolm Dragon, Savage Dragon S.O.S. Uniform, E-Man, Henchman 1 and 2, Madman, Dreadstar, Stray and Blue Beetle.
Later figures available when stretch goals are met include Mr. Monster (YAY!!), Remo Williams, Red Hook, Flaming Carrot, Dare-Devil, Black Terror, Uncle Sam, a generic Gangster and Thug and more!
The Kickstarter campaign runs for 3 more weeks until Sunday, September 23, 2018 with a funding goal of $150,000.00.
