In recent years, Mattel has been pushing to shatter the misconceptions of Barbie and her opulent lifestyle with marketing geared toward empowering little women to be anything they can dream. Today, we learned about a straight to DVD Barbie movie in which avid gamer Barbie is magically transported into her video game universe. The first part of that statement is something I heartily give massive thumbs up for, as women in gaming are still getting beat up out there, and this should not be the state of things.
