SDCC 2015: DKE's Comic-Con Exclusive Designer Toy Revolution


DKE are like the uber-keepers of awesome art toy projects, not only supporting this ever evolving movement, but pushing it up hill as if it were the proverbial giant boulder ready to roll back on them if they slip for an instant. It's a massive undertaking, and most likely one that few people know is even happening, so at least once a year, we get to thank them by showing off all their amazing San Diego Comic-Con Exclusives ....and I will start the slow clap!

SDCC 2014 Exclusives: DKE's Art Toy Explosion


San Diego Comic-Con is now THREE WEEKS AWAY!!! Three weeks...exactly. I'll allow for a moment where those going (and not made any plans yet) can run around the room screaming.

You good? Right. Let's get into it with DKE (Booth #5045), who brave the art toy waters every hour of their lives to bring both high profile and tiny independent, practically garage painted releases, to the masses. Their San Diego Comic-Con 2014 Exclusives lineup promises to be another massive deluge of amazing plastics from artists across the globe. Let's dig in...

San Diego Comic-Con 2012 : DKE Art Toy Exclusives



I had once thought the term Art Toy sounded a bit pretentious. Over time, I came to realize these vinyl beauties that dance across my computer screen often transcend the label of "toy" and become something more. There is still many a moment when I see a design for a new piece and go FUCK YEA! It's just damn fun and the term "art toy" seems to want to squash that spirit. Sooo..call them what you will, but beware! Strolling past the DKE booth (#4728) at San Diego Comic Con 2012 may force an emptying of your wallet. DKE always has a wide array of exclusives from many artists, so let's take a look at this year's goodies...

DKE Hosts All Star SDCC Art Exclusives

At San Diego Comic Con, you can be sure you'll find plenty of toys of Batman, Spider-Man and the rest of your childhood comic book idols, but the added element that makes SDCC great are all the independent artists down at the end of the hall! DKE Toys (booth #4732) have been gathering the greatest talent in the vinyl art toy world for some time now and will be bringing the creme of the crop to the biggest, geekiest show on the planet. Here's the rundown...

Amanda Spayd's "Foxglove" : 9.5" tall, excluding ears. Handsewn and hand-aged fabric, stuffed with hardwood sawdust and cotton. Faces are handpainted cast resin. There are 3 different ear lining patterns among them, but they are all blue. Each is signed and numbered on the back out of 25. 4 x 5 antique-style hand-finished portraits for each, and numbered/signed in graphite. $75
