First Clip Released from "Never Surrender: A 'Galaxy Quest' Documentary"

Twenty years ago next month, a pop-culture phenomenon was born: "Galaxy Quest" came to theaters in December 1999, and though it was a moderate box-office success, the last two decades have seen it become a genuine cult movie. It was also the first movie to really address the power of fandom and the enormous influence of "con-culture."

On Tuesday, November 26, Fathom Events is teaming up with Fandom and Screen Junkies for a one-day-only special in-cinema event: The premiere of NEVER SURRENDER: A 'GALAXY QUEST' DOCUMENTARY, which chronicles the creation of this unique movie.  Featuring appearances by Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver, Sam Rockwell, Rainn Wilson, Justin Long, Tony Shalhoub, Daryl "Chill" Mitchell, Enrico Colantoni, Missi Pyle, director Dean Parisot, Will Wheaton and Brent Spiner -- among others! -- it's a loving look at the wild production and seemingly impossible odds that "Galaxy Quest" faced on its way to cinematic immortality. Galaxy Quest Documentary "Never Surrender" Hits Theaters November 26th

By all accounts, it was a movie that beat all odds: Surviving a set fire, the loss of a powerful director, and a studio that didn’t understand what it had, “Galaxy Quest” turned into a pop-culture phenomenon that would “never give up, never surrender.”

As the cult classic nears its 20th anniversary – it premiered on December 25, 1999 – “Never Surrender: A Galaxy Quest Documentary” explores how the science-fiction comedy became an enduring fan favorite, a movie that helped launch the sci-fi- and fantasy-driven movie and TV industry that dominates global entertainment today.

On November 26 only, Fathom Events and Fandom present the theatrical premiere of “Never Surrender: A Galaxy Quest Documentary,” which includes exclusive behind-the-scenes footage and a 10-minute introduction featuring the cast members of ScreenJunkies.
