THE WAVES OF MADNESS—The World's First Side-Scrolling Horror Film

THE WAVES OF MADNESS
Umbrella Entertainment is proud to announce the Blu-ray release of The Waves of Madness-a cinematic experience like no other—arriving June 5 after a wildly successful international festival run that saw the film take home multiple awards for its audacious, one-of-a-kind approach to filmmaking.

Described as the world’s first side-scrolling film, The Waves of Madness is the latest mind-bending project from cult writer/director Jason Trost (The FP series, All Superheroes Must Die). A visually arresting blend of classic horror influences and retro gaming aesthetics, this DIY tour-de-force has resonated deeply with both genre lovers and aspiring filmmakers around the world-proving that bold ideas, raw passion, and pure creativity can overcome any budget.

San Diego Comic-Con 2012 : Day 1 Diary

In recent years of SDCC attendance, I'd find Linkmyself flying into San Diego and in a frenzied 2 hour block, check into the year's designated hotel (based on who is paying), pick up badges and launch onto the con floor to show the world all the movie company displays as they are erected and give a first look at the most awesome toys in each booth. This year, I decided two weeks of pre-show coverage would be EVEN MORE AWESOME!!! Such a horrifically bad idea. Must have been great fun for those watching but my body is paying for it today. At any rate, the 2 weeks of pre-gaming distracted me from little things like packing, making a schedule or booking tickets, so to save some cash on a last minute flight, I was dropped in Burbank to meet up with Mika Tan (the hottest super geek I know) where I loaded my gear into her all terrain strike vehicle before heading to the international house of Emi in San Diego. Keep in mind my first flight required me to wake at 4am, so I decided staying awake to work on H.I.S.S. Tank pictures would be more rewarding than 2 hours of hollow sleep. Landed in Burbank at 2:30..hooked up with Mika about 3:15 and we got to SD around NINE THIRTY. Pain. You west coast people sure do love to make traffic.

VS : Heroes Face a Horrific Twist

Dreadcentral.com just tipped me off on a new project from Jason Trost (the madman behind The FP aka that clip we ran where futuristic folks played dance dance revolution in battle) called VS. The project cashes in on our love for those men and women in tights but the plot looks to be pure, fantastic anarchy...

Four Super Heroes find themselves abducted by their Arch Nemesis and are forced to compete in a series of challenges in order to save an abandoned town full of kidnapped innocent civilians.

James Gunn messed with the chemistry of the typical super hero story in his film Super and if you think hard enough, you can trace it all back to Toxic Avenger as one of the first super hero films to break the standard, fairly family safe mold. Most recently, Max Landis gave us Chronicle; in which teenagers find themselves with powers a little beyond their control. This is a trend I'll applaud until my hands are red and swollen! Moooooore please. We'll be watching for screening dates for VS as they surface, but for now, dig the trailer...

How Long Will You Last in the FP?

Like a bastard child of Breakin' 2 and Prayer of the Roller Boys comes The FP. I often say all of life's troubles can be solved through break dance competitions. Well...someone was listening...and the future they propose is a scary, scary place. I lasted 8 minutes. Let's see how well you do.

In a dystopian future, a relentless turf war rages. Two rival gangs feud for control of rural wasteland Frazier Park ('The FP') in the deadly arena of competitive dance-fight video game "Beat-Beat Revelation." After hometown hero BTRO is slain on the dance platform by thug leader L Dubba E, his protégé younger brother JTRO (Jason Trost) goes into isolation, vowing never to duel again. One year later, The FP is in ruins, and JTRO must find the courage to return and restore order in a ruthless battle for revenge that can only leave one man dancing. From the producers of PARANORMAL ACTIVITY and featuring narration by James Remar (THE WARRIORS), THE FP is a fury of fierce footwork, triumphant montages and neon street wear that Moviefone calls "a rare ready-made cult hit."

I still can't tell if they are serious. Either way, I applaud the effort!

OPENS IN THEATERS NATIONWIDE on FRIDAY, MARCH 16th!
