The Rango Super Bowl Spot

Another film high on my list, and maybe slightly more so than Cage and his explosions and boobs. Who wouldn't love Johnny Depp as a chameleon in the old west? Seriously, if you don't like cartoons, you are a commie. Glad I said it.

From the director of “The Pirates of the Caribbean” comes RANGO, featuring Johnny Depp in an original animated comedy-adventure that takes moviegoers for a hilarious and heartfelt walk in the Wild West. The story follows the comical, transformative journey of Rango (Depp), a sheltered chameleon living as an ordinary family pet, while facing a major identity crisis. After all, how high can you aim when your whole purpose in life is to blend in? When Rango accidentally winds up in the gritty, gun-slinging town of Dirt – a lawless outpost populated by the desert’s most wily and whimsical creatures – the less-than-courageous lizard suddenly finds he stands out. Welcomed as the last hope the town has been waiting for, new Sheriff Rango is forced to play his new role to the hilt . . . until, in a blaze of action-packed situations and encounters with outrageous characters, Rango starts to become the hero he once only pretended to be. With a cast that includes Depp, Isla Fisher, Abigail Breslin, Alfred Molina, Bill Nighy, Harry Dean Stanton, Ray Winstone and Timothy Olyphant as the Spirit of the West, Rango is an exciting new twist on the classic Western legend of the outsider who saves a town – and himself in the process.

Run with Rango March 4th, 2011!

Full Length Rango Trailer Drops

As I sat and watched the Shrek movies slowly evolve, I could swear went from a lovable green cartoony monster to some hideous, jiggly green fat dude as real as an animated, kid friendly format would allow. Now comes Rango. We knew the animation was top notch from the "Hey..Don't move" teaser trailer seen HERE, but I never expected the creepy levels of detail they'll be dishing out come March 4th...

It's sort of a classic western story starring Ichabod Crane now doing a southern accent..and everyone is a desert critter. I'M IN!

Hot Toys Releasing 12 Inch Ghost Rider, Superman and Rango Movie Figures

It's been a while since we highlighted the good good works of Hot Toys, Japanese masters of the art form known as 12 Inch Action Figures. The crew isn't stopping after perfecting the look of a young Charlie Sheen (Platoon) or old Adrien Brody (Predators). OH NO! They've got some random picks on the way that will, at once, make you flinch from remembering how bad the movie was and decide you HAVE to have the most perfect head of Nick Cage ever created. After all, that's why we bought the 6 inch action figure, isn't it? So we can come up behind people and do the Nick Cage voice?! Now imagine the fun with an even bigger figure. Ahhhhhh...

Hot Toys is proud to present the 1/6th scale Ghost Rider Limited Edition Collectible Figurine with Bike Set from the Ghost Rider movie. The highly detailed Ghost Rider collectible is specially crafted based on the image of Nicolas Cage in the movie, highlighting the newly sculpted head and skull, light-up functions on skull and detailed weapons. The set also comes with a motor bike with light-up functions in front blinkers and wheels.

**Battery not included for motor bike, 3A batteries (3 pieces) are required

Also on tap for the Asian Toy Gods in the realm of Super Hero badassery is a 1978 Christopher Reeve SUPERMAN!!! Not to take anything away from DC Direct or Mattel's offerings in similar formats from the classic Superman films, but when Hot Toys finally shows off their sculpts, I'm sure people will simultaneously spit out their drinks around the world. Korean Artist Arnie Kim is perfecting the figure as we speak. Look for him this Winter.

Finally Hot Toys have just announced they will be making figures (or figure - singular) from Paramount Pictures' Rango, the tale of a hapless chameleon trying to survive in a dangerous world while in the midst of an identity crisis. Who better to voice a neurotic lizard than Johnny Depp! Hot Toys doesn't take on creatures that often anymore but when they do, it is a sight to behold. Just look up their Predators figures and you'll see why I'm excited to see what they'll do with a chameleon in a Hawaiian shirt.

Rango!.. or Johnny Depp Tries To Blend In

There are cartoons that are endearing and those meant to be somewhat creepy and then..there's Rango. It's an odd looking tale with a dose of dark humor behind it and after watching the trailer, you just know you'll love it right down to your twisted little soul.

The desert is unforgiving. Little lives spark into existence and are snuffed out in an instant. The only way to survive is to adapt. For a chameleon who looks like he's going down to Cancun, Mexico on vacation...chances for survival are slim, at best.

Rango: The story of a chameleon with an identity crisis.

Starring: Johnny Depp, Isla Fisher, Abigail Breslin, Alfred Molina, Bill Nighy, Harry Dean Stanton, Ray Winstone, and Timothy Olyphant as The Spirit of the West
