SDCC 2014: Sin City For The People

I think few people who aren't complete geeks remember that the Sin City films are based on the excellent comics from Frank Miller, and that being the case, should be more at home at San Diego Comic-Con than most films...even ones with super heroes blowing up everything in sight. As such, Dimension Films wants to make sure the hungry masses at the greatest dork event on the planet get to celebrate the long awaited second installment; A Dame To Kill For! Here's what the troops have planned as they paint the town black and white and red all over...

SIN CITY EXPERIENCE AT PETCO PARK
- Throughout Comic-Con
The film's classic cars will be on display at Petco Park parking lot throughout Comic-Con (July 24-27) against a 102-foot long Sin City skyline. The cars will will include a 1985 Dodge Diplomat, 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air, 1960 Chevy Corvette, 1959 Cadillac el dorado, 1964 1/2 Ford Mustang convertible and 1949 Cadillac Sedanette. There will also be a Sin City style photo booth, a live DJ every day and promo giveaways (t-shirts, poker chips, playing cards, mini posters and books).

Sin City: A Dame To Kill For Character Posters

It won't be long before we get a return trip to the gritty, blood soaked streets of Frank Miller's Sin City...and it looks to be just as insane, bullet ridden, back stabbing and freakishly fun as we remembered. The release date is August 22...so one more awesome comic book movie to drop onto your calender. Today, Dimension Films slides over some new poster art to rev up the "wanting" centers of your cranium...

Robert Rodriguez's Frazetta Museum at SXSW

...and in an instant, my jealousy of Heather Buckley, who is on her way to SXSW to cover films for Idle Hands....goes from medium to NERD RAGE.

For a limited time only during SXSW, Robert Rodriguez is proud to launch a museum featuring his own specially curated collection of art which includes the work of celebrated American artist Frank Frazetta. Considered to be the most influential fantasy artist in history, Frazetta contributed iconic artwork to classic works of fiction for Conan the Barbarian, Tarzan& John Carter of Mars among others. The gallery will be open to the public daily from Saturday, March 8th - 16th from Noon - 8 pm. The museum is located at 920 Congress Ave. in Austin, TX.  The gallery will have a $20 entrance fee benefiting the Frazetta Estate's preservation of the art for a new Frank Frazetta museum.

Sin City: A Dame To Kill For Trailer

I've got chills. The heavy black and whites now pop with HD clarity as actors deliver lines that could only be pulled off in a place called SIN CITY! I couldn't be more excited for this long awaited, second helping of Frank Miller madness, so let's not hold up the works, or more specifically, the eye candy courtesy of JoBlo...

Five Character Posters from Robert Rodriguez's "From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series"

Who loves insane, blood soaked, gonzo posters for characters in a new TV show based on a movie that kicked ass SO damn hard we'll never forget it? WE DO! El Rey Network has revealed 5 character posters from the Austin, TX set of "From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series," featuring images of the Gecko Brothers (D.J. Cotrona and Zane Holtz), Santanico Pandemonium (Eiza Gonzalez), Carlos Madrigal (Wilmer Valderrama), the Fuller family (Robert Patrick, Madison Davenport, Brandon Soo Hoo), and the Texas Rangers (Don Johnson and Jesse Garcia).

The network's first scripted original on Robert Rodriguez's new genre-busting cable network, "From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series" is based on the thrill-ride film of the same name. The 10-episode serialized drama is centered around bank robber, Seth Gecko and his violent, unpredictable brother, Richard "Richie" Gecko, who are wanted by the FBI and Texas Rangers Earl McGraw and Freddie Gonzalez after a bank heist left several people dead. While on the run to Mexico, Seth and Richie encounter former pastor Jacob Fuller and his family, whom they take hostage.  Using the family RV to cross the border, chaos ensues when the group detours to a strip club that is populated by vampires.  They are forced to fight until dawn in order to get out alive.

NECA's Machete Action Figure

HE'S ALMOST HERE!! Finally, the most bad ass of Mexicans will grace the shelves of nerds across the globe as they make a half assed attempt to do his voice amid pitched plastic battles. I bet Danny Trejo could take out Starscream. He could definitely behead Zartan. Ohhh, the possibilities.

The first ever action figure of cult movie icon Danny Trejo, star of the new Robert Rodriguez film Machete. This figure is highly detailed, poseable, with a lifelike likeness and 2 machete weapons. Look for him at retail this September.

Meet Royce from Predators

Honestly, like Edgar Wright, you say the name Robert Rodriguez and I'm there. Even Spy Kids. Now the man who loves monsters sets his sights on the Predator franchise with a pseudo-reboot of the original...

Predators, a bold new chapter in the Predator universe, shot under the creative auspices of Robert Rodriguez, stars Adrien Brody as Royce, a mercenary who reluctantly leads a group of elite warriors who come to realize they've been brought together on an alien planet ... as prey. With the notable exception of a disgraced physician, they are all cold-blooded killers - mercenaries, Yakuza, convicts, death squad members - human "predators" that are now being systematically hunted and eliminated by a new breed of alien Predators.

Predators Character Profile - Royce
Uploaded by dreadcentral. - Classic TV and last night's shows, online.

We caught up with Alice Braga at the Repo Men press junket who said Brody stepped up to the challenge, beefing up for the role and giving her a run for her money for the title of "biggest gun on the set." She also mentioned that it would be extremely difficult for this movie to get a PG13 rating, as the content is so dark. July 7th will be here before you know it, and then we'll find out for ourselves!
