World War Z Video Game Looking to Take a Bite Out of the Competition
In a world where our geekiest desires are translated into plastics, fashion and digital alternate realities, it's easy to miss a thing or two. Such is the case with the WORLD WAR Z video game!! I blame society. World War Z has been one of my go-to zombie movies for more than a minute, with plenty of tension, a fast moving story and the dynamics of those zombie hordes to keep me locked in every time. Translate that into a video game and I'm ALL IN!! Let's take a look at what we know so far about the game and how, exactly, they expect us to kill 300 approaching zombies armed only with a semi-automatic and dreams of movie sequels...

Yo La Tengo Sings A Cure Cover At The End Of The World
...I'm not entirely sure if they are making fun of The Cure or just came up with a hysterical concept and said "Fuck it...WE RIDE!!" Whatever the case may be, Yo La Tengo's latest music video featuring a cover of The Cure's "Friday I'm In Love" is just a little slice of brilliance on a rainy Tuesday afternoon. With shocking, Japanese-horror levels of violence as backdrop to a completely ridiculous premise, this is a video you'll be showing all your friends by day's end. Watch it now!
Directed by Jason Woliner. From the new Yo La Tengo album Stuff Like That There, out August 28th and available for pre-order: http://smarturl.it/StuffLIkeThatThereLP

The Mortal Kombat X Launch Trailer is Brutal As F*@!
Some video game launch trailers seek to tug on your heart strings with retro and iconic character returns, locking you on for the title that will hit shelves soon, and ultimately, free you of your pre-order money. The Mortal Kombat X launch trailer pushes you into a corner and rips your heart out of your chest, shows it to you and then sits you down on the comfiest couch, promising to hang onto your heart while you play, lest you choke on it in mid-Fatality. See..they love you, but it's an unhealthy love.

The Power Rangers Get DARK
Often, when a series is as loved across the globe as Power Rangers is, you get fan films. In my circle of friends, most of those tend to be Star Wars and Marvel Comics related, making it all the more baffling that Power Rangers isn't shown more indie film love. Welp...today...that ends...and you can forget everything you expect from indie cinema. This Power Rangers "bootleg" isn't super dramatic, overly artistic or having the appearance of a micro budget epic. Quite simply, this is Power Rangers on crack. (yes, I hate myself for saying it like that.) There's blood, techno destruction, more blood...OH and our favorite Bitch Puddin, Katee Sakhoff. LET'S WATCH!!!

Boom! Studios Six-Gun Gorilla Trade Reviewed
I remember the time of the monkey...when all you had to do to sell a comic or cartoon was put a monkey on the poster and ..KaPow..Gold. These days, I'm told the giant gorilla on the cover of "Six-Gun Gorilla" may be hampering sales as readers most likely expect a gimmick book with a gun totin', wise crackin' ape at the center of the action. While that prospect does sound tedious, I'm happy to say THIS book offers so much more. The press blurb offers little insight, or deviation from your misconceptions...
Welcome to “the Blister” -- a bizarre other-world colonized by humans sometime in the 22nd century, which quickly became a hotly-contested source of fertile land and natural resources long ago exhausted on Earth. In this new frontier, a rogue gunslinger and his companion wander across a wilderness in the grips of a civil war, encountering lawlessness, natives, and perversions of civilization in a world at the crossroads between the past and the future. The fact that said gunslinger is a bio-surgically modified silverback gorilla toting a pair of enormous revolvers is neither here nor there.

The Raid 2: Berandal Full Trailer
He thought it was over. After fighting his way out of a building filled with gangsters and madmen – a fight that left the bodies of police and gangsters alike piled in the halls – rookie Jakarta cop Rama thought it was done and he could resume a normal life. He couldn’t have been more wrong.
Formidable though they may have been, Rama’s opponents in that fateful building were nothing more than small fish swimming in a pond much larger than he ever dreamed possible. And his triumph over the small fry has attracted the attention of the predators farther up the food chain. His family at risk, Rama has only one choice to protect his infant son and wife: He must go undercover to enter the criminal underworld himself and climb through the hierarchy of competing forces until it leads him to the corrupt politicians and police pulling the strings at the top of the heap.

Fantasia 2013: Raze Reviewed
A group of women wake up in small metal cells and are forced
to beat each other down with their bare hands til death. TWO CHICKS ENTER…ONE
CHICK LEAVE! As you might expect, these fights are live broadcast for the
entertainment of rich assholes dining somewhere in the distance. To drive these
ladies to murder, their hosts provide live feeds of their loved ones, under
constant surveillance and gunpoint. Should a lady lose a fight, her family dies
with her. The majority of the film takes place below ground (we assume) with
these women in peril and a forced connection between some of them as they
scream through the walls. The challenge for the film makers becomes creating
new situations and dialogue on a very small stage and not have it become
repetitive, boring…or in the case of the beat downs…excessive. Luckily, they’ve
got a very likable cast.
