Here There Bear Knows Kung Fu!
Our friends at Bigshot Toyworks are reaching the finishing line for their latest Kickstarter; Here There Bear, an adorable plush that can hit all the poses you could want while being the perfect travelling companion! Prototypes of the bear have been canvassing the world, meeting new fans at conventions and on street corners while stopping for those perfect artistic snaps. One such rusty colored bear hit my doorstep last week, and we've been taking on imaginary and plastic baddies ever since.

Bigshot Toys' Shi-Shi the Tiny Guardian Kickstarter Surpasses Goal in Under 24 Hours
Many people these days will tell you the odds are stacked against you. You can slave away for a large company who shows you no loyalty or you can struggle on your own, throwing ideas at the wall hoping something will stick. Bigshot Toyworks have always played both sides of the fence, taking on large projects for major players in the collectibles market like threeA, Sideshow and Pop Culture Shock while developing their own creative properties. Today, Bigshot launched their newest creation; Shi-Shi The Tiny Guardian, and from the looks of it, she's already got a few hundred fans!
Bigshot was already all in on this new project, having been knee deep in development for over 2 years and deciding that they would enter into their Kickstarter with all points primed and ready to go straight into production when their meager goal was reached. Now that their Kickstarter has earned over twice that goal, backers can be guaranteed some adorable toys are coming their way, along with the promise of more fun from Shi-Shi's seemingly epic universe! Until that time, let's check out what's up for offer at the moment...

Bigshot Toyworks Destiny Figures Getting a Release!
For old school toy collectors like me, there's nothing better than watching concept to completion on a toy project based on an awesome license. This one kicked off on the floor of New York Comic Con last year, nestled snugly in a light up case hosted by Bigshot Toyworks in the art toy wing. Now we've come full circle with news of Bungie's Destiny 2 release and the awesome toys that will come with it.

Those well versed in the Kung Fu forms of Idle Hands know Bigshot Toyworks well, and know their work is consistently a FLAWLESS VICTORY!! Their booth at New York Comic Con is always a mix of past work they are extremely proud of, current work to show off to the masses that serves as a way for people to exclaim "HEY..YOU DID THAT!!" and then shine their love light on Klim and his crew...and brand new work that often causes art toy die hards to make a hrrrnnnggg sound and immediately ask "How much?!". Bigshot Toyworks' Metal Gnomeboy Gets Dissected with Jason Freeny
Bigshot Toyworks is proud to announce a new collaboration with the infamous and always amazing Jason Freeny! Jason has been a friend of Bigshot Toyworks for many years. In that time, they’ve worked on numerous projects together including the recent Bugs Bunny Anatomy sculpt for Kidrobot. Naturally, there's been talk for some time about a more personal collaboration, and now Bigshot Toyworks is ready to unveil a new project blending Jason’s unique anatomical dissection with one of Bigshot's in-house IPs: The Gnomeboys.
Behold: Ragnar “The Metal Gnome” Hellstrummer! He puts the Rok in Ragnarok! Ragnar is all Metal...all day long...even while doing laundry. He is dark and moody and is ready to set the stage on fire with his black metal guitar licks. We just hope his guts don’t spill out before the end of his solo….

Dream BIG Friends Kickstarter Update
So you said you wanted something that will allow you to bypass the subliminal "politics" of your local toy store's "pink aisle". You want your kids to be able to play with something that doesn't immediately tell them what to be, how to dress..and essentially, how to live. Now, there may be an alternative, but your help is needed to make it happen!
The Dream BIG Friends Kickstarter Campaign has 24 days left and is closing in on 50k, but there's still a long way to go. If you believe in what the creators of Yuna are trying to do, now's the time to get the word out. If you've got the cash to lend support, that's awesome, but more importantly, they need you to give a shout to everyone who sees your social media posts. Got a website? Drop the creators an email and they'll send you a press release with lots of images you can run. Know someone influential that would get behind this movement? Drop them a tip! We are talking about the first Asian American character at the center of a "fashion" doll line..who loves tacos, giant robots and thermodynamics. If that's not newsworthy, I don't know what is. There's also an event page on Facebook, and just clicking going shows your support.

Yuna and her Dream BIG Friends; The Alternative to the Pink Isle
The discussions have been raging. While Barbie is a staple of many a childhood across the US, she's been consistently falling short in appealing to modern audiences. As I see it, Barbie has one essential flaw. Barbie tells you what she is, and what her friends are, and then tells children to be like her. This being the case, many parents have been on the lookout for a doll who might encourage their children to be the bright shining pinpoints of light they know well, times 100! Today, that doll just may have appeared on Kickstarter!
Meet Yuna. She's the first doll in a line called Dream BIG Friends, brought to us by toy industry vets David Horvath and Sun Min (Award Winning Designers of Uglydoll) and Klim Kozinevich (Creative Director of Bigshot Toyworks who designs for Hasbro, Kid Robot, Sideshow, Mondo and countless others). You know that Iron Giant we've been drooling over from Mondo? Bigshot made that! You can see...we are in good hands.

SDCC 2015: Bigshot Toyworks Brings The Horsies of the Pocalypse to Comic-Con
Licensing Expo was amazing. Hundreds of giddy, happy people gathered around our booth in little bubbly mobs, smiling and commenting on the toys and collectibles we had on display. We met with numerous potential collaborators to discuss possible projects, and we even spotted a celebrity or two eating up our original IP! It really was great. So, with the resounding success of the Licensing Expo, we'd like to let everyone know that we will be at SDCC starting on July 8. We have a LOT of product at SDCC. Below are the items we've worked on that you can see and buy at SDCC:

Toy Fair 2015: Four Horsies of the Pocalypse Destroy Kickstarter
We don't back a lot of Kickstarters here on Idle Hands because, frankly, when you write about one, 10 more come knocking for support. We'll admit we are a little biased on this one, as we've worked with the company for some time, but you can't help but support talent and an awesome idea! That's what lead us to talk about Maddie, the Cthulhu-esque Pony-Mentor of the Four Horsies of the Pocalypse. From playful concept that leaked onto the internet to fully funded Kickstarter, Maddie is now finding her way into the hands of grown up kids across the globe, so it is the perfect time to add her little charges to your collection! ..and the best part...THEY ARE ALREADY FULLY FUNDED! I love a sure thing!

Exhibition of Painted Subway Trains Opens November 22 in Grand Central Terminal
Celebrating the unique creative expressionism of late 20th century NYC, The Grand Slam art show brings viewers back to the days when each passing train exploded with color and style. The Grand Slam showcases the works of the pivotal artists that pioneered this art form, as well as many others that have been inspired by the vibe, aesthetic and spirit of the past. The All City Style 20-inch-long subway train “canvas” allows these artists to express themselves freely while paying tribute to the movement and culture that inspired a generation.

Bigshot Toyworks Presents Mike Mignola's "Monkey With a Gun"
Some artistic images are instantly iconic, resonating with audiences across the planet as they receive some unspoken message delivered to the viewer directly. They'll say "It's a message about gun violence in our schools." or "It's a reminder to always question who holds the power and how much power we give them"....or maybe it's just a monkey holding a gun, drawn by the unmistakable hand of Mike Mignola of Hellboy fame!
With a love that knows no bounds for a body of amazing work, Bigshot Toyworks is proud to present "Monkey With A Gun", a limited edition, hand crafted resin figure standing 9.5 inches tall with a faux-bronze paint application. The result is a must have piece that will be the center of any die hard Mignola fan's art collection and a striking point of conversation amid a comic book lover's displays. Of course, you don't need to be either of those things to appreciate this killer translation from page to three dimensions, with all that monkey angst included at no extra cost.

Four Horsies of the Pocalypse Kickstarter Rapping Up
Just a quick notice that our friends at Bigshot Toyworks are preparing for THE END!! Well..that's a double edged sword, isn't it? It's soon to be the end of their "Maddie", the loveable Cthulhu-esque horsie Kickstarter and the END OF ALL THINGS as she is born and enslaves the word...but really, would our lives be that different? More tentacles, to be sure...but not so different. Just thought we'd seize the opportunity to remind you that NOW is the time to jump on in and secure your figures...and further entice you with some limited edition figures that have been announced along the way...

The Origins of Maddie and The Four Horsies of the Pocalypse
They made a ton of noise across the internets when some art of Maddie, the lovable Cthulhu-esque pony was discovered. This snowballed into the Kickstarter currently picking up steam and set to make this Horsie of the Pocalypse a force for destruction among your toy collections! We grabbed Klim Kozinevich to find out how it all began.

The Four Horsies of the Pocalypse
We don't often cover Kickstartery fundraisers, mainly because doing so opens the floodgates to mail from all points and all manner of projects from the ill conceived to slightly off putting. It's like attempting to feed a single crumb to a single bird in the park. You get my meaning. Today, we take a look at a project powered by proven professionals in the toy industry...so we know they are capable of taking it from A to Z with zero shortcuts and no chance of shady dealings. This one is for the Cthulhu fans, the horror fanatics, the collectors of the creepy cute and all those out there that look at My Little Pony and long to see them spit fire and bring about the end of all creation. Get ready for MADDIE, the mentor of the FOUR HORSIES OF THE POCALYPSE!! Be sure to watch the vid below....so damn fun...
