Quantum Mechanix Cutifies The Ghostbusters

In a world where ANYTHING can be cutified by the all powerful cutification rays of Funko, turning all manor of our childhood dreams into Pop! Vinyl Figures, one company would dare step forward and shout "WE CAN MAKE THAT EVEN CUTER!!" Funko had tackled the boys in grey a short time back, and now Quantum Mechanix put their stamp on our beloved Ghostbusters in a format that will have you throwing money at the screen...

Peter Venkman, PhD, may be a hedonist and an incessant womanizer. But his extroversion and gift of gab provide the Ghostbusters with leadership and very dry humor.

Quantum Mechanix and the Super 8 Alien

Quantum Mechanix has become one of those companies that takes a property fans are in love with and create the perfect collectibles. Battlestar Galactica, Firefly, Dr. Horrible and The Guild have all gotten the star treatment with excellent results. All of those licenses made sense to me...so when I heard Qmx were taking on Super 8, I was left scratching my head. Naturally a company would want to expand their product base and something as high profile as Super 8 may be just the thing to draw more attention while still being in their Scifi wheel base, but are people clamoring for merchandise from SUPER 8?! Let's hope so!

Super 8 Alien Bust: Created exclusively for QMx by Neville Page, world-renowned creature designer, our Alien Bust is taken directly from the 3-D model used to make the creature effects in the movie, Super 8.

The Guild 1:6 Scale Codex Figure

For years now, Felicia Day fans have had to worship crude print outs of their favorite geek queen. For something more substantial, die hards were resigned to staking out locations she had been signing at conventions to collect any bits of hair for their elaborate bubble gum statues. Now..Quantum Mechanix (aka the dorkiest of dream makers) presents an alternative that doesn't involve a restraining order...

QMx is proud to present our first one-sixth scale realistic figure: the flirty, confident Codex, portrayed by Felicia Day in the popular Web comedy series, The Guild.

The QMx Real™ Codex 1:6 Scale Figure stands more than 11 inches tall and is composed of more than 3 pounds of hand-cast polystone, allowing for a level of detail and realism unachievable in smaller-scale figures. Our figure depicts Codex, the in-game persona of shy geek girl Cyd Sherman, who leads an online gaming guild known as the Knights of Good.

Your Whedon Minute: Dr. Horrible VS The Hero of Canton

Fresh from the labs at Quantum Mechanix! It seems only fitting that the first authorized and fully-licensed Dr. Horrible Animated Maquette is of the man with the PhD in Horribleness himself.

Cast in professional-grade resin and painted by hand, Dr. Horrible is pictured in his moment of triumph, holding his Freeze Ray aloft in one hand and shaking his fist at the world. As with all QMx animated maquettes, Dr. Horrible comes with many screen-accurate details, such as his goggles, the medical symbol on his smock and, of course, the aforementioned deanimation gun. He stands over six inches tall – nine, if you include his weapon. Freeze Ray. Tell your friends.

Dr. Horrible comes in an edition of 1,000 statues and is the first in a series of limited-edition maquettes based on the characters of Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog.

Third in QMx's hit series of Serenity Little Damn Heroes limited-edition animated maquettes, "Thrilling Heroics" stars none other than the man they call Jayne (Cobb) himself. Standing 4.5 inches tall, the Jayne maquette is cast in resin, hand-painted and comes holding Jayne's very favorite gun, Vera. He's sculpted wearing the cunning hat knit by his ma and wearing his Blue Sun t-shirt. The one what got River so riled.

Offered in an edition of just 1,000 individually-numbered statues and priced at $49.95 each, you best get Jayne before he's gone. We hear he's got a crappy town named after him and that he's skilled at the public relations. Sounds like it's good to have Jayne on your side. Just remember: The living legend needs eggs!
