New Batman: Dark Knight Rises Character Art

Right out of the gate, Dark Knight Rises is winning the "Superheroes on Screen" battle in the categories of superior sculptures and now, killer teaser posters. Sure, there's no way in holy hell they can hope to top the Avengers box office, but I'm sure they'll take their wins where they can get em'! Yahoo Movies got the scoop on these individual character posters featuring Bane, Catwoman and Batman with some little bits of info dropped along side them like..

Christopher Nolan revealed that the mask that Bane wears is meant to deliver a pain-relieving anesthetic. He explained, "Bane is ravaged by pain from a trauma suffered long ago."

So what happens after "The Legend Ends"? Another reboot? It wouldn't be difficult to just pick up where this film leaves off with a new creative team, hoping beyond hope everyone at Warner Brothers has learned from past success that you should NEVER EVER PUT NIPPLES ON THE BAT SUIT AGAIN. Safe bet, no? I'd also like to beg that the next team consider a Batman with a voice modulator...not a growly voice. Lord, how I despise the growly voice.

Toy Fair 2012 : Batman: Arkham City

ARE YOU READY FOR HEAD EXPLODEY??!! You know what the best thing about having someone take excellent pictures for you is? You can actually enjoy them! The mighty, mighty Halestorm is back with a giant pile of DC Direct Batman: Arkham City action figure images that may make you weep with joy. In fact, they are soooo so pretty, they get their own article. My reaction is to start calculating how much I'll have to save every week to get these suckers. No freebies for Nomad. Upcoming Arkham City action figures include...

Batman Arkham City Action Figures Series 2 April 2012 : Catwoman (who I still swear was modeled after Yaya Han, even though the designer swears it isn't), The Riddler (who is an excellent mix of Frank Gorshin and a more punk rock Bing Crosby), Hush, Batman in Detective Mode (which is more beautiful than I could have possibly dreamed...gush) & Jervis Tetch AKA The Mad Hatter (with gang signing action).

Series 3 September 2012 : Clown Thug (which has a variant shown below..said to be 50/50 in cases. HEY!! ARMY BUILDERS!! Why didn't anyone else ever think of that?!), The Penguin, Ra's Al Ghul, Batman & Azrael. We suspect we'll see the last three at Toy Fair in NY next week!

Batman Arkham City Deluxe Collector Action Figures - This June: Killer Croc & Mr. Freeze followed by Titan Joker in November .

Toy Fair 2012 : Dark Knight Rises Collectibles

Ready? We are about to show you every damn thing you can buy for The Dark Knight Rises... that we could get our hands on. Those paying attention have noticed the new Bat-suit with it's sleeker design and grey highlights (less biker..more scifi), but the merchandise seems to only feature this suit half the time. In the past, when a toy company gets a design wrong, it is usually because the licensor could not release the images requested in time for production, forcing the toy company to move ahead with their best approximation (which in this case is the Dark Knight Bat-suit.) We don't know if this is what happened, but take that bit of info into consideration as you peruse the goods below. For my money, if I want a Dark Knight Rises action figure, I'm looking for the new suit! Mattel has excellent sculptors and designers on call, so I'm not concerned about quality at all. Keep watch of our Toy Fair coverage after the show actually starts to see what else is on tap for their line. Just know that the Mattel images below are official...but someone could have made a mistake? Ya never know. LET'S BEGIN!!

A New Teaser Poster for The Dark Knight Rises

The Summer of 2012 is so very, very far away, but much like the lead up to any super geek movie, it will be here in a flash and we'll be frothing at the mouth over the next comic to screen epic in line.

But..for now...the wait...is...excruciating.
Sweet, sweet pain.

Some of my journo comrades were treated to a sneak peek of IMAX footage some days ago and had little to report beyond "Bane on a Plane!" Honestly, I suspect we've seen more footage in the 3 thousand sneaky-cam set pictures that have been pouring onto the internet since day 1. Bane? Seen him. Catwoman? Revealed..sort of. Batman obviously singing Karaoke for the citizens of Gotham? Check. Now the mighty mighty WB releases a new teaser poster to trigger that drool reflex once more and get you dreaming of black suited saviors this holiday season.

Enjoy!

Enjoy the Sights of Batman: Arkham City

We, in the geek world, know many things at this very moment. Action figure prices are ridiculous, the convention season is starting, there are a lot of fucking aliens in theaters this year, Amber Benson is still awesome ...and OCTOBER is a very long ways away.

Batman: Arkham City, the highly-anticipated sequel to 2009’s Batman: Arkham Asylum, is now slated to arrive at stores in North America beginning Tuesday, October 18th, in Australia beginning Wednesday, October 19th, and in Europe and other global territories beginning Thursday, October 21st for the Xbox 360, PC and PS3. The new adventure has the Dark Knight soaring above Arkham City, the new maximum security “home” for Gotham’s most vile criminals. The game builds on the atmospheric world of Arkham Asylum while offering gamers an environment that is five times larger than its predecessor. FIVE TIMES.

We celebrate the news with new eye candy to enhance your anticipation and make the wait seem even longer. You're welcome.

Developed by Rocksteady Studios, Batman: Arkham City is the follow-up to the award-winning hit video game Batman: Arkham Asylum™ and delivers an authentic and gritty Batman experience. Batman: Arkham City builds upon the intense, atmospheric foundation of Batman: Arkham Asylum, sending players soaring into Arkham City – five times larger than the game world in Batman: Arkham Asylum – and the new maximum security “home” for all of Gotham City’s thugs, gangsters and insane criminal masterminds. Set inside the heavily fortified walls of a sprawling district in the heart of Gotham City, this highly anticipated sequel introduces a brand-new story that draws together a new, all-star cast of classic characters and murderous villains from the Batman universe, as well as a vast range of new and enhanced gameplay features to deliver the ultimate experience as the Dark Knight.

So far we've got confirmed sightings of Harley Quinn, The Joker and Two Face in this new installment, alongside rumors of The Riddler, Catwoman and Nightwing. We'll keep you posted as the news drops!

Gotham High AKA The Cartoon Bullet We Thankfully Dodged

You can say a lot of things about how Warner Brothers handles their DC heroes when they are adapted for kid's cartoons, but today, we got a look at a project that would never be and sigh in great relief. That project is called Gotham High.

"We all go through incredible changes as teenagers: growth spurts, bad skin, a sudden insatiable need to uphold justice and avenge your murdered parents…. Well, that is if you’re Bruce Wayne.
As if being a freshman at Gotham High wasn’t tough enough, Bruce’s insomnia and technological fascinations are taking their toll. Instead of spending his time studying, he has begun to obsess over an emerging personality trait: Batman. But under the watchful eye of his guardian and steward, Alfred Pennyworth, Bruce is forced to put his intelligence to good use: graduating high school. But given his classmates, can Bruce survive Gotham High?"

Ug. Just...awful. Teen Batman dealing with the ups and downs of being a mixed up kid with raging hormones while questioning his yearning to be THE BATMAN and ...doing what with his evil classmates? Fighting them when they steal test answers? Doing battle on the dodge ball court?? Outwitting The Riddler as he attempts to rig the home coming king voting???!!! Blek. Have a laugh at the cool but still horrible images for this prospective show.
