Mike Mignola on Frankenstein: New World from Dark Horse Comics
Legendary Hellboy creator Mike Mignola, bestselling novelist and comics writer Christopher Golden, comics writer Thomas Sniegoski, artist Peter Bergting, colorist Michelle Madsen, and longtime Hellboy letterer Clem Robins are returning to the Hellboy universe for Frankenstein: New World, an all-new four-part miniseries from Dark Horse Comics. Frankenstein: New World features the return of Mignola’s take on the Frankenstein monster with the first story to be set chronologically after the conclusion of B.P.R.D.: The Devil You Know, which had concluded the epic story of Hellboy and the B.P.R.D. Mignola will illustrate a variant cover for issue #1, colored by award-winning colorist Dave Stewart.

Sir Edward Grey: Acheron - Written and Illustrated by Mike Mignola
For the first time in five years, legendary Hellboy creator Mike Mignola is both writing and illustrating a full length comic book, one which provides the next chapter in the fabled Hellboy Universe. Titled Sir Edward Grey: Acheron, the one shot story is set following the events of B.P.R.D.: The Devil You Know, in which the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense managed to fight off the monsters on earth long enough for humanity to barely escape underground. The story is Mignola’s first full length comic book since Dark Horse Comics published Hellboy in Hell in 2016; here he reunites with award-winning colorist Dave Stewart, as well as letterer and longtime collaborator Clem Robbins. Dark Horse Comics will publish Sir Edward Grey: Acheron this winter, featuring a main cover by Mignola and Stewart and a variant cover by acclaimed artist Ben Stenbeck and Stewart.

Dark Horse Announces HELLBOY Universe Essentials
The stories of the Hellboy Universe are some of the most celebrated and beloved in comics fandom. Blending folklore, horror, mythology, action, and adventure, legendary Hellboy creator Mike Mignola and a host of celebrated writers and artists have chronicled the adventures of Hellboy, the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense, Lobster Johnson, and Sir Edward Grey for more than two decades. Beginning in 2021, Dark Horse Books will publish four volumes of essential Hellboy Universe stories, all selected by Mike Mignola, each featuring all new covers by Mignola and award-winning colorist Dave Stewart.
“In some cases—B.P.R.D. and Witchfinder—it was pretty easy to select the one “essential” book,” said Mignola. “Hellboy was more complicated, as there is so much ground to cover. In the end we chose to go with a collection of short stories rather than a single graphic novel, to give more of an overview of the character. We chose certain stories that say important things about his background, but also some that just show what he does and how he does it. A couple of stories are in there just because they are my favorites.”

Dark Horse Celebrates the 25th Anniversary of Hellboy
In 1993, legendary comic book creator Mike Mignola’s most famous creation, Hellboy, first appeared in a four page, black and white story in San Diego Comic-Con Comics #2, months ahead of his full issue comic book debut in Hellboy: Seed of Destruction. Co-published by Dark Horse Comics, this story introduced one of the most beloved comic book characters in history and launched what would become known as the Mignolaverse — the strange, shared universe of comic books and graphic novels, comprised of acclaimed titles including Hellboy and the B.P.R.D., Abe Sapien, B.P.R.D., Frankenstein Underground, Lobster Johnson, The Visitor: How and Why He Stayed and Witchfinder. 25 years later, Mignola returned as a Special Guest to San Diego Comic-Con International, where the convention celebrated the anniversary of that first 4-page story by including the historic story in their 2018 Souvenir Book. The story, which previously had been published with colors by acclaimed colorist Matt Hollingsworth, is now colored by Eisner Award-winning colorist and longtime Mignola collaborator Dave Stewart and appeared alongside an all new interview with Mignola and Jed W. Keith. Not to be undone, Dark Horse Comics is announcing three new Mignolaverse comic books, which further expand and enrich the epic story that has been entertaining fans around the world for two and a half decades.

WE WERE WRONG!
Here's a super jacked up David Harbour as HELLBOY!! Mike Mignola (creator of Hellboy) has stated Hellboy's right hand of doom is NOT CGI... 100% practical with articulated fingers and the potential to kick demon ass.

Hellboy Funko Pops Nearly Here
We hear the moaning sounds across the internets. We've shared those moans. Some are sick-to-death of Funko's seemingly unstoppable Pop army and others, triggered with joy and gimme hands the second they see a wall of white window boxes. For me, I find the whole phenomenon fascinating and will admit to being tempted by more of my fair share of toy offerings. While I've managed to keep my urges for little black eyed desk mascots which can potentially be an entire wall covering to a minimum, I can completely understand the appeal (Ren and Stimpy are miiiiine). Today, we show off the Hellboy comic book Pops coming this fall, and we know, those moans will be more from wanting than from hate...

Dark Horse's Game of Thrones: Ygritte
Let's dive back into Dark Horse's Game of Thrones figure series with Ygritte, the enigmatic spearwife of the wildlings whose fierce conviction would be enough to make any man of the north lay down his weapons and beg for further...debate. In the end, she will tell them plainly. THEY KNOW NOTHING!!
Ygritte was destined to be a favorite with Game of Thrones fans as her desire to be free and "no man owns me" attitude would make her a highly appealing character in a time where we find ourselves needing every warrior woman we can get in popular media. Whether captive or keeper, Ygritte consistently proves she is ultimately in control and stands as the one woman to make Jon Snow question his motives and alliances.

Dark Horse's Game of Thrones: The Hound
We continue our Dark Horse Game of Thrones figure photo series with an extremely complicated man who is first introduced as a remorseless villain, later appears to be a somewhat apathetic lackey and later still, evolves into a warrior with a dark past and more than respectable notions of honor. Sandor Clegane, also known as "The Hound", seemed to make his allegiances as a matter of survival and kept his distaste for those he served to himself. While most would dismiss him as capable of the same monstrous acts his brother (The Mountain) would enact on a whim or by command, it's become clear Sandor is more complex than any mere beast.

Dark Horse's Game of Thrones: Daenerys Targaryen
Idle Hands continues our photography series for Dark Horse's Game of Thrones figures! Today we profile the Mother of Dragons... which is only fitting on the eve of Mother's Day. Only daughter to the "Mad King", Daenerys has always been burdened with near mythological circumstance dictating her path through life. Named Daenerys Stormborn for the tempestuous weather which raged on the night of her birth. Named Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea when her marriage of convenience to Dothraki warlord Khal Drogo skillfully evolves from political maneuver to undying love and a an acceptance of power which is her birthright. Named The Unburnt when she emerges from her love's funeral pyre, unscathed, and blessed with three powerful "children", earning her the title Mother of Dragons.

Dark Horse's Game of Thrones: The White Walker
IT'S TIME!! As a new season of Game of Thrones approaches, we unveil a project we've been working on for some months now. Taking the Game of Thrones line of figures produced by Dark Horse, we've gone out into the wild (inside the wild.. around it.. underneath it) to find the ideal backdrop for our favorite characters from George R. R. Martin's blood soaked pages. We begin this series with the enigmatic, monstrous White Walkers. Winter is coming.
They are spoken of in hushed tones...the stuff of dark fairy tales used to send a child directly to bed. It is said they once walked the earth in great numbers, coming down from the north where Winter is eternal. Riding atop undead horses and flanked by spiders as large as Dire Wolves, the White Walkers extinguished the lives of anyone unfortunate enough to lay in their path. It took the combined might of Westeros to drive the nightmare army back to their icy lands; a wall erected to prevent further incursions...and remind the populace of how close they came to complete annihilation.
