When the cover to each comic is opened, fans will hear the iconic Transformers Signature Sound of the bots shifting from robot to alt mode – or vice versa, with a different sound in TRANSFORMERS #1 and in Void Rivals #1.
“It’s been an incredible opportunity to reimagine the world of TRANSFORMERS through both our TRANSFORMERS and Void Rivals comics series in the Energon Universe, so we’re excited to celebrate those debut issues by adding two of our favorite sounds effects ever into the experience,” said Ben Abernathy, Executive Editor, Skybound. “These are the first comics in Skybound history to feature sound chips, and I couldn’t imagine a better way to Roll Out a whole new way to experience two of the most important comic book launches of the decade.”
WIND BREAKER by Satoru Nii is an action-packed high school delinquent manga series that saw its English-language debut as a digital-first release in April 2022. Already reaching fan-favorite status, its popularity only increased as it began publishing in print August 2023. Inspired by the original manga, a hit anime produced by CloverWorks began airing August 2024, and a second season slated for 2025 was immediately announced following the end of the first season in June 2024. Manga fans can currently read up to 17 volumes digitally, and up to 8 volumes in print. The print edition of WIND BREAKER volume 9 will debut February 4, 2025.

This September, IDW Publishing will release Bloom County Library: Book One, the first of five editions collecting all the humor and all the characters of the original run of Breathed’s comic strips, published worldwide in over 1,200 newspapers on a daily basis from December 8, 1980 to August 6, 1989. The first volume features the strips from 1980 to 1982, introducing the beloved Opus the Penguin, as well as Bill the Cat, Cutter John, Michael Binkley, Milo Bloom, and Steve Dallas.
“In some cases—B.P.R.D. and Witchfinder—it was pretty easy to select the one “essential” book,” said Mignola. “Hellboy was more complicated, as there is so much ground to cover. In the end we chose to go with a collection of short stories rather than a single graphic novel, to give more of an overview of the character. We chose certain stories that say important things about his background, but also some that just show what he does and how he does it. A couple of stories are in there just because they are my favorites.”

Just a teaser image to kick off the new year, but we've got The Lizard, Juggernaut, Madame Web, the Iron Spider...and the usual emo love story claptrap. We'll see if they rope me into following a story line this year. Recently, I like him best with the New Avengers (though I am very behind on my trades of that book). My friend Lori pointed out that we like him better when he has more serious characters to play off of and not get caught up in the dramatic aspects of his life too much. I couldn't agree more. For now, I enjoy laughing at Deadpool being a major ass, in contrast to emo Parker. Bring it on, Marvel!
