Gerard Johnstone to Direct Live-Action “Monster High” Movie

Mattel, Inc. (NASDAQ: MAT), the leading global toy and family entertainment company and owner of one of the most iconic brand portfolios in the world, announced today that acclaimed filmmaker Gerard Johnstone (M3GAN 2.0) is set to direct Monster High, a live-action theatrical film, developed in partnership with Universal Pictures and Academy Award-winning filmmaker Akiva Goldsman under his banner, Weed Road. The film will feature an original story based on Mattel’s beloved fashion dolls imagined as the children of legendary monsters.

First-Look Image of the Upcoming Live-Action Masters of the Universe Film

Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel, Inc. (NASDAQ: MAT) today released a first-look image of Nicholas Galitzine as He-Man/Prince Adam in the upcoming live-action feature film Masters of the Universe, based on the iconic Mattel franchise. Masters of the Universe is currently in production. 

Joining Galitzine, the film stars Camila Mendes (“Teela”), Morena Baccarin (“The Sorceress”), James Purefoy (“King Randor”), Alison Brie (“Evil-Lyn”), Charlotte Riley (“Queen Marlena”), Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson (“Malcolm/Fisto”), Jared Leto (“Skeletor”), Idris Elba (“Duncan/Man-at-Arms”), Sam C. Netflix's Avatar: The Last Airbender Trailer Drops

Second time's a charm!! ..Sorry to remind you of that last one. At the very least, the collective lust of the internet for Daniel Dae Kim as Fire Lord Ozai has proven Netflix has chosen the right path!

Mattel, Nickelodeon and Paramount+ Debut Trailer for Monster High 2

Mattel, Inc. (NASDAQ: MAT), Nickelodeon and Paramount+ today revealed the trailer and premiere date for Monster High 2, the sequel to the live-action movie musical based on the iconic Monster High franchise about the children of famous monsters and creatures. Monster High 2 will be available to stream in the U.S. on Paramount+ Thursday, October 5, and premiere on Nickelodeon that same day at 7 p.m. (ET/PT), with encores every weekend in October as part of the Monster Movie Madness stunt. The movie will also premiere later in the month on Paramount+ in select international markets where the service is available, with other international territories premiere dates to be announced later this year.

Monster High 2 follows Clawdeen Wolf (Miia Harris), Draculaura (Nayah Damasen) and Frankie Stein (Ceci Balagot) as they enter sophomore year at Monster High. The power of three is put to the test as they face even bigger challenges this year—new students, new powers, evolving friendships, and an even bigger threat that could not only tear their friendship apart, but could change the world forever. The movie will also introduce new character Toralei (Salena Qureshi), a feisty British were-cat, back after a year abroad in Scaris, France.

Prime Video Orders God of War Live-Action Series

Prime Video announces that it has ordered God of War to series. Co-produced by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon Studios in association with PlayStation Productions, the live-action series is based on the critically acclaimed PlayStation video game by the same name, created by Santa Monica Studio. God of War will premiere on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide. 

The series follows Kratos, the God of War, who, after exiling himself from his blood-soaked past in ancient Greece, hangs up his weapons forever in the Norse realm of Midgard. When his beloved wife dies, Kratos sets off on a dangerous journey with his estranged son to spread her ashes from the highest peak—his wife’s final wish. Kratos soon realizes the journey is an epic quest in disguise, one which will test the bonds between father and son, and force Kratos to battle new Gods and monsters for the fate of the world.

At first, this seems insane...but those who are loyal to the cult of In Bruges know that boy Farrell can act his ass off...and Eva Green.....o man. I would watch her talk about mayonnaise for half an hour.

Production is underway for the live-action reimagining of Disney’s 1941 animated classic “Dumbo.” Directed by visionary filmmaker Tim Burton (“Alice in Wonderland,” “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”), the film stars Golden Globe® winner Colin Farrell (“In Bruges,” “The Lobster”), Golden Globe winner Michael Keaton (“Birdman,” “Beetlejuice”), Emmy® and Golden Globe winner Danny DeVito (“Batman Returns,” “Big Fish”), BAFTA Award winner and Golden Globe nominee Eva Green (“Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children,” “Dark Shadows”), and introduces Nico Parker and Finley Hobbins in their first film roles. The cast also includes Roshan Seth, DeObia Oparei, Sharon Rooney and Douglas Reith. Katterli Frauenfelder (“Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children,” “Big Eyes”), Derek Frey (“Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children,” “Frankenweenie”), Ehren Kruger (“Ophelia,” “Dream House”) and Justin Springer (“TRON: Legacy”) are producing from a screenplay by Kruger. Nigel Gostelow (“Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children,” “Dark Shadows”) is the executive producer. “Dumbo” is slated for release on March 29, 2019.

SDCC 2016: THE TICK Lands August 19th!!

We went from "Is this thing really happening??" to "IT'S HERE!!! OMG!!!!" in a matter of seconds. While August 19th isn't exactly tomorrow, it's way closer than most people probably though the premiere of Amazon's new pilot would be. Here's the announcement from the big A himself...

Amazon today announced the lineup for its 2016 comedy pilot season which will debut August 19 in the US, UK, Germany, Austria, and Japan. Amazon customers can expect more variety than ever in an Amazon pilot season, including shows I Love Dick, based on the renowned feminist novel about a couple’s marital struggles in the artistic and academic community of Marfa, Texas; Jean-Claude Van Johnson, where martial arts film star Jean-Claude Van Damme operates under the alias of “Jean-Claude Van Johnson” to serve as the most dangerous undercover private contractor in the world; and The Tick, an offbeat and dark superhero tale based on the acclaimed comic.

Street Fighter Legacy Short Film...FIGHT!!

Frosty over at Collider is a fan of all things geek, just as we are, and turned us on to a 3 minute film that, while a little silly (IMO), is still better than 90% of the animated and live action Street Fighter projects to date!



The main thing I can't get past it Ryu's size. The guy looks tiny and it throws me off. Also..eyebrows. Nuff said. Cinematography is beautiful and effects are top notch, so for three minutes out of your life, it is definitely worth it!
