Toy Fair 2017: Hasbro's Top Secret Transformers: The Last Knight Toy Lineup

Toy Fair 2017 Hasbro Transformers The Last Knight Toy Line
We are so heavy into Toy Fair 2017, with news coming from multiple continents to the point where I'm starting to not even question where it's coming from. If it's fun, we are going to run it and then move onto the next thing because THERE ARE 500 NEXT THINGS!! Today we got a bit of news that, while not groundbreaking, is still fun, and all about giant frakking robots.

Those that follow Hollywood film projects know that it's not unusual for a production company to give a project a code name as to mask their filming info from prying eyes..and cameras. In recent years, this practice has been creeping every so slightly into the toy world...and today, it seems to be out in full force. We've got a small pile of Transformers: The Last Knight movie toy listings, complete with TOP SEKRET CODE NAMES!!! Intrigue. While it won't help you to begin your drooling over the movie toys, it may give you an idea of how broke you'll be, should they ultimately not be trash. (please don't be trash)

Angry Birds Transformers Officially Announced!

Back in January we teased you with the mere mention of this techno-mash-up, which actually made more sense to us than Star Wars angry birds did...in some odd way. Now, on the eve of the Licensing show in Las Vegas and as the new film inches closer, Rovio is ready to let the information fly!

Autobirds, assemble! Rovio Entertainment and Hasbro, Inc. (NASDAQ: HAS) are teaming up again to bring together two of the world’s largest and most popular entertainment brands and their fans. Angry Birds Transformers will come to life in multiple forms, including a mobile game, consumer licensed goods and a product line from Hasbro.

Toy Fair 2014: Fleshing Out the Transformers: Age of Extinction Story

We live in the future. It is a glorious future where one does not have to watch a football team get massacred in order to enjoy the true highlights of the evening..namely the half time show where Bruno Mars went all Boyz II Men on a wailing audience, the commercials, which were mostly more odd than good, and the new movie trailers, among which some of you got your first glimpse of the crazy, crazy, super damn crazy over complicated designs for the robots of Transformers 4. Let's start by watching the teaser 3 or 4 times, because it is Monday.

Transformers: The Covenant of Primus

Further exploration into the world of little mysterious black books from BookExpo America 2013! First,  we took a look at Star Wars: The Bounty Hunter Code, featuring a sort of study manual from your favorite Mandalorian, Boba Fett! This time, we'll be delving into the world of the Transformers. I've always appreciated when writers provide for a rich back story, even as an add on to material that has been around for years, so long as it follows a logical path in reference to what we know already. The Covenant of Primus looks to do just that. Will this book reveal anything the big bot die-hards don't already know? Let's find out.

NEW 3D Trailer for Transformers: Dark of the Moon

Ahhh Transformers. How I want to love you and still, you continually hurt me. It is an abusive relationship we are locked into. My childhood memories clashing with the scarring knowledge that you put robo-balls on Devastator..and were perfectly OK with it. Still, I always look back when you walk away. Still, I will watch you when you come back this June 29th. Oh Transformers movies...let's not fight anymore.

The Autobots, led by Optimus Prime, are back in action, taking on the evil Decepticons, who are determined to avenge their defeat in 2009’s Transformers Revenge of the Fallen. In this new movie, the Autobots and Decepticons become involved in a perilous space race between the U.S. and Russia, and once again human Sam Witwicky has to come to the aid of his robot friends. There’s new characters too, including a new villain in the form of Shockwave, a longtime “Transformers” character who rules Cybertron while the Autobots and Decepticons battle it out on Earth.

Note the date change...JUNE 29th will be here before you know it!! ..and despite our love/hate relationship, how f'n cool will this look on IMAX 3D?!

New Transformers Surface in Toys and Cartoons!

In pre-order form at least. I'm not the most psychotic of Transformer fans, but when pictures resembling the Transformers Movie versions of my favorite cartoon robots cross my desk, my interest is set to one thousand! Some people are telling me these are all from a new line called Transformers United (I'll give you a moment to shake off the X-Men movie flashbacks) and others say Kup and Wreck-Gar, at the very least, are from another line all together. The one undeniable fact is this...these are Takara images, so there's no telling if we'll get these looking exactly the same way..or at all! Characters we've identified in the shots include...

Optimus Prime
Optimus in Cybertron mode
Bumble Bee (looking a little more like Gold Bug)
Bumble Bee in Cybertrom mode
Megatron (who finally turns into a fucking GUN!!)
Megatron in Cybertron mode
Cliffjumper in Cybertron mode
Soundwave in Cybertron mode
Jaz (with awesome clip on speakers!)
Grapple (the crane truck)
Drift (the samurai looking guy)
Kup
Wreck-Gar

Sadly, no idea on the others or if they are even all from the same "United" line. If you can identify them, please chime in in the comments! Also on the way are a G2 Optimus Prime, Rumble and Frenzy.

Now more times then I'd like to remember, toy company execs came to me and said "We are about to talk to Hasbro about licensing. What should we tell them we want to do?" Among my half dozen ideas was 10 inch, super posable, non transforming Transformers in a style that is a cross between G1 designs and Dream Wave comic sexiness. One look at these pictures will tell you Hasbro/ Takara seems determined to meet us half way.

In other Transformers news, Hasbro/ Discovery's new channel The HUB is ready to unleash some new battling robot action on you.

Fans of the enormously popular Transformers action-adventure entertainment franchise will revel in the upcoming television event on The Hub cable network – a five-part original mini-series, Monday-Friday, November 29 – December 3, showcasing “Transformers: Prime,” a new CGI-animated television series coming to the network.

Transformers: War For Cybertron Multiplayer Mayhem Video & New Stills

When we last visited Activision's ultimate realization of Cybertron, it was just after US Toy Fair 2010, where we were treated to a sneak peek of the early gameplay, which we then wrote up and posted as quickly as my tired, boney fingers could tap. Now Activision sends over stills showing some of that action and a brandy new trailer showing how you can team up with friends to grind those Autobot weaklings to space dust. Click on the video itself and you can jump to Youtube and see it in HD!

Transformers: War For Cybertron Trailer from Activision

One of my favorite sources for up-to-the-minute geekery, SuperHeroHype, has just posted this new trailer for WAR FOR CYBERTRON!!  G1 looking bots in their Cybertronian forms battling it out with the oil flying free?  I'm in.

"Transformers: War for Cybertron" features two distinct storylines: the Autobot campaign tells a story of heroism to save their home planet against overwhelming odds, and the Decepticon campaign tells a story of an unquenchable thirst for power to control the universe. For the first time in a "Transformers" title, fans will be able to play the game with their friends through team-based online co-op, or go head to head in a variety of intense, online multiplayer game modes. The game features a sci-fi art style that introduces to fans the entire living, metallic world of Cybertron, as well as all-new visualizations of the iconic "Transformers" characters in their original Cybertronian forms.
