Celebrate 20 Years of Cartoon Network

This October, the world’s first 24-hour, all-animation cable network will celebrate its first 20 years by hosting CARTOON NETWORK’S BIRTHDAY PARTY, an on-air and online birthday tribute created especially for kids and kids-at-heart who’ve grown up with the wildly fun and outrageous network since its launch in 1992. Launching on Oct. 1, 1992 within just two million U.S. homes, Cartoon Network has since grown to become the #1 television network among boys 6-11, and is currently seen in over 175 countries and in more than 360 million households worldwide.

Saluting both its vast library of classic animation as well as its current crop of top-rated hits, on October 1, Cartoon Network will launch its milestone birthday celebration by replacing its regular programming line-up with a full day of birthday-themed episodes from such beloved classics as The Looney Tunes, The Powerpuff Girls and Dexter’s Laboratory alongside more contemporary hit series including Adventure Time, Regular Show and The Amazing World of Gumball. The day-long event will also include a world television premiere of an original music video presented at 6:58 p.m. (ET/PT) as a tribute to Cartoon Network’s creative achievement over its first 20 years; and then viewers will be treated in prime time to the milestone 100th episode of Adventure Time (7:30 p.m.) and the much-anticipated Season 4 premiere of Regular Show (8 p.m.).

It makes perfect sense that the retailing giant would want some sort of presence at San Diego Comic-Con and with the help of Entertainment Earth, they always will!

Channeling the spirit of its diverse product assortment, Toys“R”Us unmasked its lineup of ten exclusive items available in honor of its fantastic fourth appearance at Comic-Con International in San Diego from Wednesday, July 11 through Sunday, July 15. Jazwares Unleash New Adventure Time & Premiere Mortal Kombat

Jazwares are getting back into the swing of things with Adventure Time, Fanboy & Chum Chum, Mortal Kombat, Sonic, Street Fighter and the last remnants of Robot Chicken action figures on the pegs at Toys R Us as we speak. Now they've got a new wave of Adventure Time goodies landing and a second helping of Mortal Kombat on the way.

First up, we'll show you what Adventure Time toys you can find on the shelves right now. Just found at Toys R Us are new 2 inch pvc figure 2 packs including a Battle Pack with Finn and Jake ready for war, a Gladiator Pack with Jacked Up Finn, Mud Jake and the ghostly Gladiator from the episode Morituri Te Salutamus, and a Wizard Pack with fully powered up Finn and a mustachioed and afro'd Jake. We also spotted the dreaded, ugly as sin "beaver" Jake Football and some splat characters.

Up for pre-orders are new 2 packs including a Food Pack, Pixel Pack and Party Jake and the Party God Pack. We've also got listings for a 5 inch Lumpy Space Princess and Marceline the Vampire Queen. No pics of these items so far.

Jazwares also dropped some advance images on us today for their Mortal Kombat line! Say hello to the 6 inch Reptile action figure and Deluxe Shao Kahn action figure, featuring a hammer accessory for Kahn and removable mask for Reptile. While I do wish these figures were a little more detailed (both paint and sculpt wise), it's nice to see more video game action figures on the pegs.

It's also been announced that Jazwares will be tackling Cartoon Network's OTHER mega popular cartoon series; Regular Show! I sincerely hope all this success will lead to better paint applications, more detail and all around better toys! I'm a massive Adventure Time fan and I've passed on all the toys at retail so far. I hope that tells you something. Make great toys and you'll own my bank account.

SDCC: Cartoon Network's Panels and Signings

This has been an awesome year for cartoons. I could finally wash the horrific taste of bland tween cartoons away with incredible nonsense like Adventure Time, Regular Show, Amazing World of Gumball and even the further adventures of Scooby-Doo and Loony Tunes!! Adventure Time, in particular, is eerily addictive, so be warned. Want to catch a glimpse of some of these new shows and have a once in a lifetime experience with their creators? Cartoon Network has the hookup...

In 2011 Cartoon Network will transport fans attending San Diego Comic-Con International to the unpredictable and exciting world of Adventure Time! The Land of Ooo comes to Comic Con and to the streets of San Diego with an Adventure Time themed booth, Pizzeria and the first-ever Adventure Time Parade.

Based on the hit show, Cartoon Network’s booth will feature a massive one-of-a-kind inflatable of series star Jake, with Finn and Lady Rainicorn along for the ride. Fans will be able to take photos set in the Land of Ooo with Adventure Time characters, collect five exclusive Adventure Time buttons, participate in an open casting call to audition as their favorite Adventure Time character and attend a star-studded panel filled with live readings, giveaways, and more!

Cartoon Network once again goes beyond the San Diego Convention Center with an even bigger presence, this time based around the massively popular show Adventure Time! Visit the Cartoon Network Pizzeria (Ciro’s Pizzeria, 536 Market Street, Between 5th and 6th in the Gaslamp Quarter) from Wednesday, July 20–Sunday, July 24 for a unique, fully immersive takeover. The restaurant brings you into the world of Adventure Time with floor-to-ceiling dĂ©cor, episodes and clips, and a custom Jake plush free with purchase throughout the entire convention (while supplies last). Also, brand ambassadors throughout the Gaslamp District will distribute coupons for special Happy Hour free food and drink each day.

Every day during the convention an Adventure Time parade featuring Finn, Jake, Ice King, Princess Bubblegum, Lumpy Space Princess, and Lady Rainicorn will wind its way through the Gaslamp District!

Other Cartoon Network series will be showcased at San Diego Comic-Con International with talent and giveaways at convention panels including the exciting action of Ben 10, Generator Rex, Young Justice, Green Lantern: The Animated Series, ThunderCats, Star Wars: The Clone Wars and the hilarious antics of comedy hits like Regular Show, The Amazing World of Gumball, The Problem Solverz, The Looney Tunes Show and many more!

Fans can also tune into Cartoon Network for “Cartoon Network’s Big Fan Weekend” featuring Andrew W.K.
