Jerry Macaluso Takes On Face Off Season 2!

Ever watch a trailer for a movie or TV show and go "Hey! I know that guy!!" Well, the trailer for the new season of Syfy channel's Face Off just did that to me! You all will recognize Jerry Macaluso as the guy behind SOTA Toys wildly successful Street Fighter action figure line, and more recently, head of Pop Culture Shock Collectibles (who have just launched a Thundercats statue line that will blow your mind), but what many people don't realize is he has an insane background in the special effects world. One look at his IMDB listing will reveal titles like Ed Wood, Mystery Men, Little Nicky, Darkman, Fist of the North Star and House on Haunted Hill, among many others. Now, Jerry will be pitting his considerable skills against the chosen few picked to compete in this annual competition/reality show! Here's the skinny for those that missed last season...

Face Off is a competition/elimination series exploring the world of special-effects make-up artists and the unlimited imagination that allows them to create amazing works of living art. The contestants are tasked with elaborate feature challenges including executing full body paint make up on models and creating their own horror villain. Not only will the show incorporate effects make-up, it will include a wide range of skill sets including prosthetics, 3-D design, sculpting, eye enhancers, casting and molding. Each episode involves incredible reveals of the competitors' finished work, and the drama of one contestant being sent home by the panel of expert and celebrity judges. It all culminates in one winner and one grand prize that will launch a career.

Here's the trailer!

Tune in to the Syfy channel Wed, January 11th, 2012 and cheer on one of our own!!

Re-Live the Madness of CATDOG!!

Running in circles has never been funnier or more exasperating unless you’re CatDog. Nickelodeon’s fraternal twins arrive kicking and screaming on DVD, October 18, 2011 from Shout! Factory. Featuring the first 10 episodes from the show’s premiere season, CatDog: Season 1 - Part 1 follows the adventures of the feline-canine brothers Cat and Dog, conjoinedtwins, who adore and irritate each other like fleas. Long anticipated by fans, CatDog: Season One - Part One has not been available in stores until now. A must have for fans of Nickelodeon, cartoon fanatics and DVD collectors, the two-disc DVD set has a suggested retail price of $19.93.

Like all of Nickelodeon’s classic shows, CatDog: Season One - Part One features an all-star voice cast, which includes Tom Kenny (SpongeBob SquarePants, Rocko’s Modern Life), Jim Cummings (The Super Hero Squad Show, Reno 911) and Carlos Alazraqui (The Fairly OddParents, Rocko’s Modern Life).

A fan favorite, CatDog: Season One - Part One, is a tale of opposites attached starring CatDog, the most unlikely brother duo ever seen. The conjoined brothers love each other yet they are so different, they can’t help but annoy themselves silly with their contrarian activities. Prim and proper, Cat is the very definition of culture, while Dog is the ultimate tail-wagging, sofa-jumping, car-chasing roughneck. But despite their very different personalities, CatDog are the best of friends, sticking to one another — literally — through thick and thin, even when it comes to facing off against their devious neighbor Winslow and the rough ’n’ tough gang of Greaser Dogs!

Diamond Select's Munsters Action Figures

Ah yes. That theme song. Instantly recognizable and so, so hard to resist breaking out in a boogie when heard. Diamond Select knows we love the goofiest monster family that ever was (not to be confused with cooky, which is the Addams Family) and will be releasing your long wished for Munsters action figures this October!

The fans have spoken and they want more horror for their Hallloween and DST has been listing- we now present the next property in the acclaimed Select line, The Munsters! (click for more images!) TV's first family of horror! Who does not remember watching the exploits of Herman, Lilly and Grampa back in the days before color TV! Sculpted by legendary sculptor Jean St. Jean, featuring a selection of accessories as well as the specialty market exclusive build- a Electric chair! This 7" depiction of the TV icons is proof-positive of DST's dedication to bringing these icons to collectors. The Select version includes an exclusive detailed accessory not available to the Mass Market!

So it looks like this set kicks off with Herman, Lilly and Grampa, which by process of elimination leaves Eddie and Marilyn for...October 2012?! I hope not. The Universal Monsters roll out happens every October, and the Munsters seems to be following suit, so it would stand to reason series two would follow next year, but with a Build-A-Lectric Chair in play, perhaps we'll see the rest of the family a little sooner.

Bif Bang Pow Roll Out More LOST Figures

Now, your first impulse is going to be to spit your drink out when you see these, at which point I will direct your attention to the big writing on the bottom of each pic that says PROTOTYPES..as in these figures are far from done..and from the look of them, they've got a long way to go before completion. Next I'll direct your attention to the Venture Brothers MEGO style figures and point out how..not so good..those looked at the beginning. Bif Bang Pow doesn't churn out drek, so they went back to the artists and sure enough, these things are now a slice of fried gold. SO..chorttle all you like, but I assure you, the finished products will be miles better than these...somewhat awkward prototypes I wish they hadn't shown in the first place. AND NOW..without further fanfare and fireworks..we present the newest members of the LOST MEGO-esque figure line coming March 2011! The lineup includes...

Miles (Freighter Outfit)
Claire (Preggers and ready to pop)
Jack Shephard (Oceanic Flight Outfit)
Sayid Jarrah (Oceanic Flight Outfit)
Sawyer (Dharma Security)
Juliet Burke (70's Outfit)

Pre-orders are up NOW on http://www.entertainmentearth.com/

Lost Questions...REVEALED!!

So there are a few lose ends left over from the series finale of LOST. Yes, I know everyone smiled at each other and then made out before going off to heaven, but what is left behind is a giant stack of unanswered questions throughout the mythology of the show..and they are still there....waiting...for college humor to ask them and now you'll watch and laugh and then cry a lot. It's what Lost people do.

LOST Finale Delivers Classic Hollywood Resolution

And that is to say, it didn't really, concretely resolve anything.

Before I go on my rant, I understand some of you have Tivo'd and some are on the west coast, so DO NOT READ THIS until you watch the ending because there is NO WAY to have this discussion without throwing all the details out there. We clear? Coolio.

When a TV show surrounded in mystery comes to a close, the fans of that show ask for the answers in the wrap up. The trouble with that is, those fans might not like what they see. The show creators know this, so they put in as many answers as they care to in bringing the show to their planned conclusion, then toss out a series of images and wordage as to make that ending speculative. In the case of Lost, we have the "Five People you Meet in Heaven" ending...only with more than 5 people of course. The colored window in back of Jack's father in the church scene represents the world's belief systems as he tells him "I'm dead, you're dead and yea, they are all dead in there" but, since time is irrelevant in Heaven, we don't know who went and when and further, if there was even an island in the first place. If we are to listen to and believe what the writers have put on the screen, then the events on the island were a sort of Limbo..maybe for all involved..maybe for just Jack. Either way, we've been watching Jack's journey throughout the series and now he "gets it" and makes the sacrifices necessary for him to feel his job is done..and can move on. Of course, this makes all the Jakob and his brother fighting for eternity on an island that holds in the evils of the universe plot completely pointless..but who cares. We got to see everyone re-unite in the happy sideways heaven universe and smile at each other. Don't get me wrong, this is highly dramatic stuff for people who watched the show all that time and yanks on the heart strings with flawless expertise. Every actor brought their A game. Many a manly man shed big baby tears tonight. For a casual watcher that wanted in on the finale so they'd know what people are talking about at the water cooler tomorrow, I can imagine the boredom, confusion and numb ass they received.

In the final moments of the show, we see Jack giving up the ghost, staring at the sky as a plane leaves the island. We'd already been told the "Heaven scenario" before this moment, so why bother? It leaves the door open for speculation. The fan is now able to talk about the "REAL" ending of the show. Are they really going home? Are they still in their own limbo? Was the plane taking off a metaphor for Jack's soul heading for Heaven? Who cares. My annoyance begins and ends with all the mystery being thrown out the window in favor of this Heaven answer. How ever you paint it, its a cop out. Would it have hurt them to resolve the events on the island with a little more explanation and keep the sideways universe the idealized world created from Jack's sacrifice, meaning that all that stuff happens after Jack recaps the glow? Who knows why these choices are made. I'm just glad I didn't become more emotionally invested in the show than just being a casual fan. It's over. You can all stop yelling at me now.

Supplemental Notes:

CHEERS! to the show creators selling out to Target on the very last day, with commercials showing the smoke monster bested by a smoke alarm, available at Target on sale NOWW!! I'd like to see a further commercial with Hurley sneaking bite size candy bars during key moments in the show's history, finally explaining why he didn't shed any weight.

JEERS to the creators of the show's history recap for pretending the tail section story line didn't happen at all, even going so far as to block Mr. Eko out of the montage shots. Wasn't he a major player for a stretch??!! You also didn't give Michelle Rodriguez her due, even though she was used in the sideways heaven. Boggles the mind.

My friend Chris says that Ben was hit in the face 108 times over the course of the show's history. I believe him.

A Little LOST in New York

The Vilcek Foundation Showcases the International Artists and Filmmakers of ABC’s Hit Show : Exhibit Opens May 20, 2010, at the Vilcek Foundation Gallery

Just three days before the world-‐wide television phenomenon LOST wraps up its final season, the Vilcek Foundation will open for public view a premiere exhibition celebrating the international creative talent, both in front of and behind the camera, that have contributed to the unbridled success of this show during its six-‐year run.

The exhibit, presented in collaboration with the ABC Television Network and open for two weeks only at the Vilcek Foundation Gallery in New York City, will feature images and biographical profiles of immigrant and first-‐generation American members of the LOST cast and crew, working across all departments of the production team, from acting
and costume design, to editing and lighting.

“It is thrilling to highlight an aspect of this popular show that is so often overlooked by the public eye,” said Executive Director Rick Kinsel, speaking of the pivotal role played by the diverse members of LOST’s creative team.

“LOST provides an ideal forum for reminding us all that the work of immigrants touches our lives in myriad positive ways, every day, often without our knowing or realizing.”

LOST premiered in 2004 and quickly became a global phenomenon, airing in more than 228 territories across the globe. The show’s premise, about a flight from Sydney to Los Angeles that crash lands on a mysterious island in the Pacific, lent itself to boasting one of the most multicultural casts on television.

Among the stars participating in the exhibit are Jorge Garcia (“Hurley”), Yunjin Kim (“Sun”), Nestor Carbonell (“Richard”), Dominic Monaghan (“Charlie”), and Daniel Dae Kim (“Jin”).

The exhibit also includes crewmembers whose families hail from all parts of the globe – including the Philippines, Ireland, Tonga, South Africa, New Zealand, the U.K. and China.

The profiled individuals will also be set against a collection of popular props and figures from the set of the award-‐winning show. For the first time ever, fans in NYC will have the opportunity to get up close and personal with some of their favorite imagery from LOST’s mystical, mysterious time-‐travelling island.

New York Paley Center Hosts The Last Lost Weekend

As the show that makes everyone mental draws to, what is sure to be, a truly psychotic mind-fuck of an ending, the Paley Center gives a heads up on a little shindig they are throwing as a sort of support group for all you crazies.

SATURDAY MAY 22 2-5pm

One of the great “mythology” shows of all time—and by that we mean right up there with Buffy the Vampire Slayer and The X-Files—ABC’s Lost is coming to an end after six glorious seasons (OK, five, but we forgive them for those cages!), and we don’t know whether to laugh or cry. Laugh, because we are giddy with anticipation for the two-and-a-half-hour swan song on Sunday, May 23; cry, because how can life possibly go on without Jack, Kate, Sawyer, Locke, Hurley, Miles, Desmond, and—yes—even Ben?

Here’s the good news: The Paley Center for Media and New York Comic Con are going to help EASE YOUR PAIN with a fun-filled celebration featuring a slew of events—a DHARMA aptitude test (aka trivia contest), a custom-made Lost game, prizes, giveaways, a panel discussion, and a special screening of a pop-up version of the program that got it all started: the pilot episode.

So, if you love Lost like we do and want to celebrate (or mourn) with your fellow Losties, come to the Paley Center and share in the fun and games. After all, you’ll never have this chance again.

Panel and guests to be announced.

Of course, there will also be a LOST weekend in LA, so never fear west coasters. CLICK HERE for those details.
