HULU Orders Social Experiment Show ‘GOT TO GET OUT’

Hulu has ordered “Got to Get Out” (working title), a new original social experiment and competition series from Wheelhouse that will test the loyalties of a group of strangers vying for a major payday. Created by Glenn Hugill (“Deal or No Deal,” “The Mole,” “Puzzling”) – president of Wheelhouse’s UK arm – and produced by Wheelhouse’s Spoke Studios, “Got to Get Out” will consist of 10, hourlong episodes.

The new series will feature participants living together in a mansion for 10 days, competing for a cash prize that increases by $1 every second that they’re there. Physical and mental challenges completed throughout will add money to the pot, with a total of $1 million at stake. Participants can stick together and take an equal share of the prize money at the end of their stay – OR they can choose to go rogue and attempt to steal the full pot of money for themselves.

Paranormal Investigators Team with Police in Travel Channel's "Ghosts of Morgan City"

Morgan City, Louisiana, is experiencing an especially troubling spike of unusual emergency calls – unexplained encounters with the ghosts of the bayou city’s turbulent past that are frightening its citizens. In the all-new Travel Channel series, “Ghosts of Morgan City,” premiering on Friday, June 21 at 9 p.m. ET/PT, Police Chief James “Bo” Blair is now looking to his colleague from another jurisdiction for assistance.

Chief Blair learns that paranormal activity in Shepherdstown, West Virginia, has quieted down since that town’s police chief, Mike King, worked with a specialty team to solve a rash of hauntings last year.  In search of advice, Chief Blair contacts Chief King, eventually following his lead and recruiting local paranormal investigator Jereme Leonard, who teams up with former FBI agent Ben Hansen and psychic medium Sarah Lemos to look into the incidents. In each of the eight one-hour episodes, the paranormal team attempts to figure out what’s causing the recent uptick of bizarre activity by looking for patterns and clues in the new cases they investigate.

Travel Channel Revives 'Ghost Bait'

Paranormal pioneer Bob Magill and empathic investigator Tina Storer take on frightening, personal hauntings in America in the cult classic “Ghost Bait,” lured back to television and premiering on Travel Channel on Thursday, April 4 at 10 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. ET/PT with 12 half-hour episodes. Using a shocking but effective method of isolation combined with sensory deprivation, the duo helps people overcome their fear of intense paranormal activity. Game Show Network's "Steampunk'd"

No, it's not about Victorian era mad scientists who prank each other...though I'd watch the hell out of that.

GSN, the leader in game shows and competitive entertainment, announced today the premiere of its new original series, STEAMPUNK’D, hosted by Jeannie Mai (“The Real”).  The eight-episode series, which seeks to discover the most talented and versatile steampunk designer in America, will debut on Wednesday, August 19 at 10:00 pm ET (9pm Central) on GSN.

Battlebots Return to TV

ABC has picked up “BattleBots,” a reimagined take of the killer robot combat sport from Whalerock Industries and the creators of the original “BattleBots” franchise, Ed Roski and Greg Munson. The homeade robots will battle against each other, in a single elimination tournament style format, until there is one champion. The six episode series is anticipated to air this summer. MGM Television, which has a development deal with Whalerock Industries, will be distributing the program internationally.

Myx TV Makes a “Call to Cosplay”

Myx TV, the only English-language multicultural Asian American entertainment network in the United States, will premiere its newest original reality series, “Call to Cosplay,” on June 30, 2014 at 8/7c.

Cosplay, a term meaning ‘costume play’ is a popular subculture where participants dress-up and role play various characters from anime, manga, comic books and more. “Call to Cosplay” combines the world of cosplay with all of the exciting elements of a competition design program. Each episode of the series features two cosplayers competing for cash prizes. Contestants are assigned a theme, budget, mystery element and less than eight hours to create a character and costume from scratch. Costumes and performances are then judged by a panel of experts and scored on four main criteria: authenticity, creativity, “wow” factor and craftsmanship.
