Little Itty Bitty X-Men: Days of Future Past Figures

In the world of collectibles, the smaller you go in scale, the larger a universe you can build. For those new to these lil suckers, HeroClix is set up to be like D&D without all the note taking. Players can game with each piece containing all the stats right in the base/dial. WizKids put out plenty of tiny gaming collections including Hellboy, Freddy Vs Jason, Marvel & DC Comics, HALO and more. Don't feel like playing? Can you live without Morgan and Joss? NECA has an exclusive, limited edition DVD of Comic-Con Episode IV: A Fan’s Hope packed with two also-way-limited mini-figures. Each copy comes with the regular DVD (also available separately), as well as two of its Executive Producers: the Godfather of comic book culture, Marvel’s own Stan Lee, and Ain’t It Cool News founder Harry Knowles.












Apparently ONLY 20k are available and MAY be sold for the first time at San Diego Comic Con, so keep an eye out for more news on that front. I'd expect a signing of some sort would be in the works!

San Diego Comic-Con 2012 : NECA Exclusives

ONE Month and 2 weeks from now, the greatest convention series that ever held a nerdling to it's bosom will kick off and attempt to drive me into the ground. Of course I am talking about San Diego Comic Con, which I have been attending for over 10 years...and it hasn't killed me yet!!! COME AT ME BRO! One day they will put me in a reality show where they send me to every convention they can find and try to snuff me with dorkiness. That would be a good way to die. NECA is gearing up for the most holy of geekapaloozas with a string of exclusives set to make grown men squeal like a tiny anime loving child who just saw Naruto in person. Their list is not yet complete, but we've got the first three polished up and ready for your trembling eyeballs...

Wizkids Has a Tiny Little Brightest Day

NECA's Wizkids continues their domination of the toy isles with vast legions of little itty bitty supers in the Heroclix lines. Today, we get a sneak peek at their lineup for DC Comic's Brightest Day event.

The DC HeroClix Brightest Day Action Pack, available October 2010, is the follow-up product to the highly acclaimed DC HearoClix Blackest Night Starter Game. Tying in with DC Comics hit Brightest Day year-long series, the DC HeroClix Brightest Day Action Pack includes seven highly detailed HeroClix 3D figures ripped directly from the pages of the Brightest Day comic, plus an all-new, double-sided HeroClix map.

For the uninitiated, Heroclix are 2 inch playable game pieces with all their stats and the means to keep up with how they handle play in their base. Thus, the Clix part! To date, Wizkids have had Marvel, DC and Indie comics clix as well as a horror line including Aliens vs Predator, Freddy VS Jason, Hellboy, Gremlins and some original creeps of their own. NECA revived the line and has been bringing Clix to Toys R US and main stream retail shops ever since.

Watchmen Join the HeroClix Battles

NECA's ressurrected Wizkids HeroClix line gets a surge of new supers from the Watchmen universe! This collector's boxed set comes with 25 miniature figures from the Watchmen movie in awesome display-quality packaging. You'll see in this retailer solicit that they've also got a 14 inch tall Colossal Dr. Manhattan figure on the way (sold seperately from the collector set.) HeroClixers, rejoice! Now you can put giant, naked Dr. Manhattan up against your old Marvel HeroClix Galactus and round out the battle with the HorrorClix Cthulhu!! THE SMACK DOWN OF THE CENTURY!! This epic battle does, of course, hinge on Manhattan being naked though. Otherwise, why bother?

Toy Fair 2010: NECA

NECA gobbles up licenses like a fat kid going after a tower of Twinkies! This year world domination continues with new Video Game licenses, a bolstered lineup for Terminator 2, a hungry pack of Predators (beginning with new figures from 1 and 2), killer Jonah Hex figures, enough Twilight merch to make a little emo girl cry sparkly tears and THE MOST INCREDIBLE NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET COLLECTIBLE YOU HAVE EVER SEEN!!! DC Back Into the Clix Arms Race

We've all seen Wizkids hanging from the pegs at the local Toys R Us and we've shown you a few of Marvel's mighty army, but now, DC is poised to strike! The series is named "Brave and the Bold". no doubt to capitalize on the name recognition of the cartoon series kids now know well. Here's a sampling of the lineup including Hawkman with The Atom, Martian Manhunter, Captain Marvel with Black Adam, Batman with Catwoman, Clark Kent and Clark making his quick change into Superman. The box art suggests The Flash and Green Lantern will be included as well. Remember you can click any image to enlarge.

The Clix Are A'Commin'!

NECA bought the Wizkids brand so that the geelkings of the world would stop sobbing big, dorito flavored tears. The assault has already begun, evident by a quick trip to the Super Hero isle of the local Toys R Us. Now the Wiz shows off the latest for 2010...




The first set capitalizes on the coming of Iron Man 2 to the big screen. The battle packs contain Ultimate Iron Man, Black Widow and Crimson Dynamo in one and Iron Man, Iron Monger and Nick Fury in the second...orrrr...you can get an Armor Wars Mega Pack with all 6 playing pieces, 6 character cards, 1 map, 1 rule sheet and dice. NECA is pushing the "game play straight out of the box" aspect of the Clix line in hopes kids will jump all over it. If there was ever a time for that to work, it would be now!















Next up, we have the Gremlins: Gizmo's Great Escape Game. You'll immediately notice some NECA sculpts from their Gremlins figure line, making this an instant buy for fans of the film, especially with the addition of the robber, card player and Santa gremlins.

Gizmo has been cornered in the kitchen by a gang of angry Gremlins. Play as Gizmo and try to make your way to safety, or play as Stripe and try to catch that pesky fur-ball once and for all!

The set contains 6 figures, 6 character cards and the game map.













The Freddy Vs Jason: Forest of Fear game looks like a direct re-release of the Freddy vs Jason Horrorclix set, minus some pieces.

Play as Freddy Krueger or Jason Vorhees, the two most horrifying movie villains of all time. Hunt your victims through a nightmarish maze of woods.

Set contains 6 high quality collectible 3-D miniatures, game cards, game tokens and a game map.




I've never played any of the Clix games myself, so I couldn't speak to how easy it is to jump into, but if pricing is better than the old game pieces, NECA might have the hit Wizkids never was able to achieve before. Taking them out of the blind boxes is certainly a step in the right direction!
