Celebrating Stan Lee Airing December 20th on ABC

Stars of the Marvel Universe assemble to celebrate the life and luminous legacy of Stan Lee in an ABC News production, “Celebrating Marvel’s Stan Lee,” airing Friday, Dec. 20 (8:00 – 9:00 p.m. EST), on ABC.

Filmed in part in front of a live audience at The New Amsterdam Theater in New York City, “Celebrating Marvel’s Stan Lee” takes viewers on an action-packed journey throughout the life of Lee and across the Marvel Universe, sharing never-before-seen interviews and archive footage with Lee himself from deep within the Marvel and ABC News archives.

Hot Toys Shows Off Their Guardians Vol 2 Stan Lee Figure!

“Hey! I’ve got so many more stories to tell.”

Marvel legend Stan Lee, makes a cameo in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 just as he’s done in every Marvel Cinematic Universe movie! In his scene, which takes place on a planetoid called Xander, Stan Lee is surrounded by members of the Watchers, the ancient race who observe everything happening in the universe and who occasionally meddle in it despite a strict non-interference policy.

Often credited with transforming the industry forever, Stan The Man was an American comic book writer best known for his work with Marvel Comics. Today, Hot Toys proudly presents Stan Lee in the latest 1/6th scale collectible figure inspired by his cameo appearance in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 as one of this year’s Toy Fair Exclusive items only available in selected markets!

Stan and Me

On the occasion of Stan Lee's 95th birthday, I thought it was time I tell the story of my history with the man who watched me grow up amid an ocean of geeks and only very vaguely knew it (because I told him).

Our story begins sometime in the 80's with a little Paul and his father (larger Paul) attending a comic convention in Manhattan, perhaps at the Roosevelt Hotel? I seem to remember attending a lot of mini comic cons there. Stan Lee and Jim Shooter were doing a signing (most likely for free!!) and lil Paul proudly approached the table with an X-Men Files book...not at all published by Marvel Comics. Stan looked at the book, apparently his first time seeing it, flipped through it a bit, showed it to Jim, and then, with an extra big, super amused grin said "Are you SURE you want me to sign this??" I said Yes, Please and he replied OK THEN! I've got that dumb book somewhere and, to this day, don't have anything Stan Lee actually wrote, signed by Stan Lee.

Is the Future of Conventions ONLINE?

There are now a staggering number of comic, anime and various, specific pop culture conventions across the GLOBE on a weekly basis. I'd say New Jersey has at least 10 to speak of! Now, one company is raising some important questions... Do fans really want to stand in sweaty spaces with strangers, waiting in long lines for hours to get their favorite celeb's autograph? Is it important to see new collectibles in person? Is it worth it to get a hotel room, fight for a ticket and travel to conventions just to see preview footage from new films that will be leaked online within minutes?

Just like Stan Lee in most of the Marvel Motion Pictures, we had come to expect and giddily anticipate B movie icon Bruce Campbell's appearance in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man films. Now a new regime has taken control of the movie Spideyverse and so, Bruce's subtle manipulation of Peter Parker's life and our endless speculation on what those moments might mean in future movies has come to an end...unless you are a video game junkie! Activision handles just about everything from a fan's perspective lately and so, inserting Bruce into the video game universe was a no brainer.

Wizard World Philadelphia Comic Con Announces Programming

Interactive Q&A sessions with top stars like Chris Hemsworth, Stan Lee, William Shatner and three other “Star Trek” captains, WWE® Superstar CM Punk™ and more than a dozen others, movie screenings, evening parties, kids activities, comedy and costume contests are among the wide variety of programming offerings at Wizard World Philadelphia Comic Con, May 31 – June 3 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. Panels are scheduled for all four days, spanning the entire pop culture spectrum.

Highlight programming at Wizard World Philadelphia Comic Con includes:

SDCC: Lee, McFarlane and Yoshiki's Blood Red Dragon

Stan Lee, Chief Creative Officer of POW! Entertainment (OTCQB: POWN), music superstar and humanitarian Yoshiki, and world renowned comic book artist Todd McFarlane will unveil the debut issue of the highly anticipated comic book series Blood Red Dragon at Comic-Con International on Thursday, July 21, 2011. Lee, McFarlane and Yoshiki, on whom the comic's central superhero is based, will present the first installment of Blood Red Dragon, which features a surprise and first-of-its-kind publishing innovation that combines the unique skills of these three world-renowned artists. Lee, McFarlane, and Yoshiki will join established and respected comic book writer Jon Goff in a panel discussion at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront hotel in the Indigo room on Thursday, July 21st from 1pm-2pm.

Blood Red Dragon Issue #0, the first in the series published by Todd McFarlane Productions, focuses on the origin of an ancient and benevolent force, locked in an epic battle with the dark armies of Oblivion. Seriously does anyone expect this to be anything less than a trainwreck we are hoping will be hysterical, at the very least? It takes the combo of Stan Lee AND Arnold Schearzenegger to come up with something this ridiculous and ACTUALLY GET IT MADE. Here's the skinny...

Stan Lee's Super Seven

A2 Entertainment, Archie Comics and Pow! Entertainment have teamed up with Stan Lee, co-creator of Spider-Man and others, to introduce a new original animated series and comic books called "Super Seven."

"Super Seven" is slated to premiere this fall in the digital, print, broadcast and retail markets. Lee's property follows seven aliens who are stranded on Earth after their spaceship crashes.

"A2 Entertainment is humbled and honored to be collaborating with such a legendary figure in the entertainment industry," says Andy Heyward, A2 Entertainment's co-founder and chief executive officer. "Stan Lee has been delivering groundbreaking entertainment to consumers for decades and we couldn't be more excited to venture into the digital space together and introduce him to a new generation of fans."

In addition, Disney entered into a first-look deal with Pow! Entertainment with a number of projects in the works. Disney has also been working closely with Lee.

While I'm always happy that Lee is involved with overseeing Marvel movies, his personal media projects haven't been stellar. The Condor, Mosaic and Lightspeed tanged from bland to down right snore worthy. My hope is that we can mix Lee's vision with some top writing talent and ignite a spark once again.
