John Carpenter's SUBURBAN SCREAMS

On tree-lined streets filled with children and families … behind the doors of well-appointed homes … in the least assuming neighborhoods, fear awaits, as fans of horror legends John Carpenter and Sandy King know all too well.

On Friday, October 13, Peacock presents JOHN CARPENTER’S SUBURBAN SCREAMS, which combines real-life horror with cinematic vision to create a fascinating, frightening limited series that ensures viewers will never look at their neighbors the same way twice. NECA's Toony Terrors vs Scooby-Doo: Jason Voorhees Attacks

NECA Toony Terrors Friday the 13th Jason Voorhees Action Figure
From the first moment NECA showed off their new Toony Terrors action figure line, I had only one thought in mind. The iconic killers from our favorite films were so expertly translated into cartoon characters, there was only one gang of monster fighters they could face off against.
THE SCOOBY-DOO GANG!! As luck would have it, Character Toys have just re-released their Scooby action figure line in incredibly affordable 2 packs starring the Scoobies paired with creepy bad guys I did not own yet, all for 6 dollars each. Not a deal I could pass up! With a NECA box of terrors delivered at lightning speed, all that was left was to set the stage, and the Big Kid Toy Store at the New Egypt Flea Market just happened to provide all the supernatural looking settings I needed. SO.. without further gum flapping, here's part one of our photo series in which Velma meets the man behind the mask, Jason Voorhees of Friday the 13th!

Funko 5 Star Horror Figures Kiddify Freddy, Jason & More

Funko 5 Star Horror Figures Nightmare on Elm Street Freddy Krueger
Funko, devourer of pop culture licences the world over, is no stranger to the darker side of our fandoms. They've fought demons with Hellboy, swatted at tentacles with any number of Anime heroes and walked the darkened streets with our favorite horror icons. Now, their new 5 Star figure line dives back into cinematic horror's greatest moments, celebrating the fiends we love to see go to work!

Ya know...it's funny, but NECA just started selling toys at Target and one location in particular pulled all their horror figures after a mom complained her son wanted a Chucky figure. Has this ever happened with any of the Funko Pop horror figures, I wonder? Probably not! Stand your ground, Target! But I digress...

NECA Dishes Out More Hunger Games, Predators and Jasons!

Just a quickie post before I run into New York for the day! NECA just dropped some pre-orders, adding additional action figures to lines you know and love and offering an official picture to one fiend we saw at Toy Fair 2012.

First up, those loveable, blood thirsty kids from Hunger Games! OK..so only one of them was really blood thirsty...but we all know there was only one way to survive the game. NECA gave us an excellent series 1 just in time for the movie's release and now present series 2 with Katniss and Peeta in their training outfits and Rue and Cato in their "battle" gear. We don't have additional images yet but you can be sure all will come with appropriate accessories.

Next, we get a look at three new Predators from Series 6 of the mega popular action figure series. Casual collectors will note that NECA have been implementing new articulation for these alien hunters, making them more sought after than ever before. Series 6 includes Warrior, Scout and Lost Predators, all from Predator 2.

Finally, we bring you an updated look at the Friday the 13th action figures of Jason Voorhees, natch'. Now you'll have a Part 3 and Part 4 Jason to add to your collections!

Toy Fair 2012: NECA's New Jasons & More

NECA have been dream makers for some time now, and if you think that opening sentiment is silly, you are NOT a hardcore horror fan! What other company would do the leads from Lost Boys, Robocop, the first Terminator AND an entire line of Gremlins in both cute n fuzzy and mean n scary forms?! Now NECA get back to the core horror icons with a new release of a 7 inch action figure of Jason Voorhees from Friday the 13th part 3! We expect him to start surfacing around June of 2012. Since Freddy Krueger got a full line of figures all to himself, we can expect Jason to get the same love. Further evidence of this comes from NECA's own twitter where they revealed a head for one of their Jason figures that looks more from Part 4 than Part 3!

NECA will have tons of new plastics to show off at the NY Toy Fair in around three weeks. Their lineup includes...

(highlighted bits are links for lots of eye candy!)

Three Hunger Games Action Figures (Katniss Everdeen, Peeta Mellark & Gale Hawthorne) and various nicknacks
Bioshock - Infinite figures
Valve figures (from Portal, Team Fortress, Left 4 Dead & Half Life)

Gears of War 3
E.T. figures and other awesome collectibles
Gremlins (and also HERE)
Evil Dead
Rocky (with future releases of Ivan Drago & Clubber Lang)

G.I. Jason Storming Your Closet

Ah.. Friday the 13th. For some, it is mini Halloween. As a kid, my mom would throw us Friday the 13th parties with horror movies playing in a darkened basement and traps rigged in the dark to spring scares as simple as slime on doorknobs or a lanky toy monkey with matted hair staring you in the face. As we grow older, one thing becomes abundantly clear. Friday the 13th belongs to a man named Jason Voorhees..and now he's going into battle...for freedom.

G.I. JASOOOOOOON!!

no..i'm not singing. I'll let the ukulele girl make up a song for this one.

Fright Rags celebrates the man in the hockey mask with a brandie new, limited edition T shirt! The G.I. Jason T shirt goes on sale this Friday (the 13th, natch) and will be available for order for only three days. Come Monday, the curse is lifted and it goes poof. FreddyinSpace is reporting you'll be able to buy t shirts in men's and women's sizes as well as a hoodie most horror loving geeklings will not be able to resist. Assume your online purchasing stance!Link

Funko's POP! Movie Figures Make Horror Adorable

Never underestimate the power of cute. Funko knows this all to well, having consecutive hits with their Plushie and Pop! Vinyl figure lines. Few companies have ever translated multiple properties to plush toys and plastic figures with such perfection. Now, Funko adds our favorite pop culture icons to your shelf with POP! Movies and they are kicking things off with our favorite creeps made irresistible. Completely and utterly irresistible. The first wave includes...

Beetlejuice
Stripe from Gremlins
Freddy Krueger from A Nightmare on Elm Street
Jason Voorhees from Friday the 13th
Michael Myers from Halloween

POP! Movies vinyl figures measure 3 and 3/4 inches tall and have 1 whoooole point of articulation, being a swivel head. Stand back so all that ACTION doesn't knock you on your ass. Look for them this February!

Freddy and Jason Get Squishier

FUNKO, makers of fantastical bobble heads and vinyl figures in every shape and size your pop culture loving brain can conjure up have done it AGAIN!! I've expounded countless times on my love for their Plushie doll format which brings a simplistic style to the licenses you've come to love over your lifetime. The end result is so perfect and satisfying, you want to collect a whole shelf full of them. Funko have done their best to allow you this option, filling their lines with toys from DC Comics, Lord of the Rings, Alice in Wonderland, The Wizard of Oz and more. Now, TERROR COMES TO PLUSHIE TOWN!!! (I've copyrighted that phrase. No stealing.) The obvious move is to bring on the bad guys, so Nightmare on Elm Street's Freddy Krueger and Friday the 13th's Jason Voorhees are on the way. The doll line is made in a 7 inch tall format, just FYI, and are available EVERYWHERE online as well as your local comic shops and some retailers.

SDCC 2010: NECA and Their Niche

There are only so many hours in a day and at San Diego Comic Con, those hours fly by at twice the speed of sound. At Toy Fair, we have all day to shoot action figures...but at SDCC, we get put in rooms with the most awesome people you could imagine working on projects we love, so we've got to plan our attack wisely! Unfortunately, some companies get left behind as result. By the time we got back to NECA on Sunday, they'd already decided to call it quits and the newest prototypes were packed up, leaving behind tiny little footprints in the dust where they once stood. Luckily, we've got some sales shots of these new figures as well as NECA's own Twitterifications live from the show.

Coming to the pegs in the near future...

Predators Action Figures: Series One should be hitting stores right now and Series 2 including the Tracker, Unmasked Berzerker and a Battle Damaged Classic Predator. I'm not sure how the rest will be released, but we also saw a Cloaked Predator and were told the Predadogs would get a separate release. We shall see. Expect Series 2 this October. Then in November, we get a classic Alien VS Predator 2 pack! It's been a long time since anyone put the pair together, so expect them to sell out all over. Translation..pre-order NOW.

Bioshock: Alpha Sinclair wields a trusty Grenade Launcher to scatter the plastic beasties this year as the Splicers look on, wondering if they can make themselves prettier by collecting those spare body parts! Is it clear I know nothing aboit Bioshock? I'm a good faker. At any rate, I don't recall this many Splicers in the lineup before, so get ready to snap up all you can handle. NECA have announced Crawler and Brute joining the fight and debut'd little masks we hadn't seen at the show. Want full sized masks allowing you to terrorize the noisy neighborhood children? FEAR NOT!! NECA rises to the occasion with Lady Smith and Welder Splicer Masks.

Twilight: Ahhhh..Twilight. The itch at the back of your throat that won't go away. Like it or not, these pups must sell TONS of units at Toys R Us, so alongside the standard Edward, Jacob and unsmiling femme fetale action figures, they do their best to introduce a new character with every wave. For Eclipse this October, not only do we get some new sculpts for the crew, but a new character in Rosalie. At this rate, we'll get Jasper in December of 2012.

Harry Potter continues with the Deathly Hallows lineup featuring 3 new figures. Included are Snatcher Chase Harry Potter (which sounds all sorts of dirty) with Glasses, Wand and Backpack, Fenrir Greyback and Severus Snape. Watch for them this November.

Player Select: Rounding out the coverage is NECA's video game action figures. Bioshock and Gears if War get their own line, but Altair of Assassin's Creed 2 will join the core line, wearing his signature white and black outfits. We showed you the Splinter Cell and Borderlands toys last time around, and nothing new to report on that front save the small detail that Sam Fisher will come with his Tri-Goggles. I guess begging does make a difference, huh?

For Gears Fans, expect new figures of Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago. Looks like a slender year for the Gears.

As a side note, we'll also be getting a new Jason Voorhees from the last, updated Friday the 13th film. He'll be packed wearing the sack head and mask randomly, but each figure will contain both heads.
