First Look at Beware the Planet of the Apes #1

Marvel Comics Beware the Planet of the Apes #1
This January, witness an all-new chapter behind the foundation of the Planet of the Apes mythos in BEWARE THE PLANET OF THE APES #1! Written by Marc Guggenheim and drawn by Álvaro López, this four-issue limited series will bring readers back to the groundbreaking original film saga with a prequel adventure to 1968’s Planet of the Apes, the influential movie that kicked off the ape domination of science fiction throughout the ‘70s and beyond!

Today, fans can see a special preview of the debut issue. Starring the franchise’s most beloved characters including Cornelius, Zira, and Nova and seeped in appreciation for the classic style of the initial films, embark on a journey that delivers new insights and secrets behind the history of the PLANET OF THE APES!

Into the Forbidden Zone! In a hostile world run by aggressive gorillas, scientists Cornelius and Zira are the only apes alive who see value in the mute, dumb human race—but even they know human capabilities have severe limits. WETA Expands Mini Epics Vinyl Figure Line with Battle Angel Alita, Planet of the Apes and District 9

WETA Mini Epics Vinyl Figures Battle Angel Alita
With an explosion of excited fans and a generous serving of subversive humour, Weta Workshop unveiled its first foray into the world of pop culture vinyls at San Diego Comic-Con 2017. The response to our merry band of Middle-earthlings – Frodo Baggins, Gollum, Gimli, Moria Orc and Uruk-hai Berserker – was immediate: WE WANT MORE MINI EPICS!

Which got us here at the Workshop thinking. What other EPIC worlds could we deliver to film fans and collectors of cool stuff across the globe?

Let’s start with the basics, we said.  We’re tackling the A-team: Apes, Aliens, and Angels! We’ve grown the MINI EPICS family to include not only more figures from The Lord of the Rings, but your favourite characters from Planet of the Apes, District 9, and Alita: Battle Angel – each figure as highly stylised as the next.

Toy Fair 2015: NECA Debuts Interstellar, Batman, Pacific Rim & More

Our UK Toy Fair coverage is far from over, but before we get back into that ocean of awesome, we've got some new business to take care of! Nuremberg Toy Fair is ever the enigma with 99% of the show locked down to press (even though they give out press badges), but we've still got some goods to unveil. AND UNVEIL WE SHALL! Let's take a moment for...NECA appreciation. Any follower of Idle Hands on any one of our social media spots..or even my own personal pages, knows I can't help but gush over most of NECA's toy offerings. As this crew adds new articulation to every release, their sculpting and painting game remains as strong as ever and most importantly, they wear their fandom out on their sleeves for all to see, so we can't help but hope for them to get all the licenses we love...because they love what we love! Who continued the Masters of the Universe line when Mattel abandoned it? NECA. Who made a Balrog toy to battle our Toy Biz Lord of the Rings figures? NECA did. I start the slow clap for my New Jersey toy making family...and as you join me, we'll check out some new stuff in a quick but exciting sneak peek!

NYCC 2014: NECA Doesn't Disappoint: Aliens, Apes, Terminators, Robocops, Kaiju & More

NECA. How do we set up NECA? We say "Hold onto your butts",..which of course makes me think of Jurrasic Park and how much NECA would KILL IT on that line!!  Let's cross our fingers that they get some sort of license when the new movie hits. FOR NOW..we suggest the butt holding due to extreme awesome headed your way via an all star lineup from the masters of the 7 inch action figure...and we expected no less. We've got Aliens, Planet of the Apes, Horror, Terminator vs Robocop, Pacific Rim, HALO and  mooore. Rather than spend time listing things you clearly know about (mostly from San Diego Comic Con and...you know..the world..), I thought we'd just jump right into the eye candy. Shall we? Yes, have some!
