Halloween is inching closer, and it wouldn’t be a spooky celebration without an appearance from the “First Family of Darkness” themselves. Get ready for a family fright night like no other when the Osbournes – Jack, Kelly, Sharon and Ozzy – go on their first-ever paranormal investigation together in Travel Channel’s new two-hour special, “The Osbournes: Night of Terror,” premiering Friday, October 30 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. The event is part of Travel Channel’s third annual “Ghostober” programming event.

The Osbournes enter the gates of hell as they go inside the Heritage Square Museum, a frightening and haunted historical site in the heart of Los Angeles. A “living museum,” Heritage Square is a collection of relocated Victorian-era houses taken from different spots around the city. It’s believed to be the most haunted hotspot in the area and has never been investigated for TV. Staff and guests have reported an uptick in paranormal activity, and they’re eager to understand what’s causing this ghostly phenomenon.

Halloween ComicFest (HCF) is the comic book industry’s premiere fall event – a single day when participating comic book specialty shops across North America and around the world give away specially published comic books absolutely free to anyone who comes into their shops. HCF is the perfect event to experience comic shops as destinations for Halloween and horror-themed comic books, collectibles, and other merchandise! In other words, Halloween ComicFest is the Spooky Free Comic Book Day!


Every year, on the last Saturday in October, the industry comes together to give away free comics and encourage both curious, first-time comic book readers and seasoned comic book fans to flock to the best place in the comic book community: local comic shops. Each one is unique in its community, with a style and personality all its own, and each one carries a full line of spooky comics, graphic novels, toys and related products. Local comic shops are the hubs of our community, where fans can come together to discover new comics, make lifelong friends, and find a sense of commonality.

Nickelodeon’s Are You Afraid of the Dark? at BEYOND FEST

Beyond Fest, the highest-attended genre film festival in the US, is excited to announce the premiere event of Nickelodeon’s Are You Afraid of the Dark? The three-part limited series event sees the return of the Midnight Society, with Beyond Fest bowing the first two episodes on Monday, Oct. 7. Courtesy of Nickelodeon, the special screening is an all-ages, family-friendly event built specifically for fans young and old and free to all guests with tickets obtained via RSVP (seating is subject to availability on a first-come, first-serve basis, details below).

Following the screening will be a special Are You Afraid of the Dark? panel with stars Lyliana Wray, Sam Ashe Arnold, Miya Cech and Jeremy Ray Taylor, ACE Entertainment’s Spencer Berman, writer BenDavid Grabinski, and director Dean Israelite. Berman, Grabinski and Israelite all serve as executive producers. The Are You Afraid of the Dark? panel will be followed by a 35mm screening of the ‘80s thrill-ride, The Gate, a film specially selected based on its shared sensibilities with the limited series.

These days, full length animated features are proving to be better than their live action counterparts! With releases like The LEGO Movie and Into the Spider-Verse, artists and creators are changing the way animation is received by the pubic, and anticipated at the box office. We can only hope our favorite creepy, kookie, mysterious and spooky family has gotten the same expert handling and proves to be a new Halloween tradition in the making.

Get Ready for Halloween Comic Fest October 29th

In its fifth year, Halloween ComicFest 2016 is set to be the largest fall event yet for comic book shops. Comic book and Halloween fans of all ages can go to over 1,900 participating locations, which will give away more than 2 million free Halloween-themed full-size and mini-comics during the annual Halloween event taking place Saturday, October 29th.


“We’re ecstatic about the 33% increase in total comics ordered from last year, which signals to us that Halloween ComicFest continues to grow as one the industry’s major annual events,” said Halloween ComicFest spokesperson Michael Moccio. “What’s especially exciting is that the mini-comics increased almost 50% from last year. As an industry, turning the next generation into comic book fans is paramount and we’re happy we can contribute to that initiative by distributing the all-ages mini-comics that are perfect to give to trick-or-treaters. No doubt, this year’s increase in mini-comics orders is due to all the great properties featured, such as Archie Comics, Dynamite’s Grumpy Cat, VIZ Media’s Pokémon X&Y Pocket Comics and more.”
