Incredible cast, dark tone with possible hilarity in the stark blackness of it all and one killer super hero suit. What's not to love? This one jumps very near to the top of my "must see" list.

BIRDMAN or The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance is a black comedy that tells the story of an actor (Michael Keaton) – famous for portraying an iconic superhero – as he struggles to mount a Broadway play. In the days leading up to opening night, he battles his ego and attempts to recover his family, his career, and himself.

AnimeNext 2014: ALL THE COSPLAYS

I am guilt ridden. Always. It's part of my genetic anxieties..and my charm. For AnimeNext, I am guilt ridden because I feel I could cover the show more completely, and so with this thought driving me, I created a schedule that included cosplay meet-ups, pannels, time in the vendor room and live music...and as I exited my vehicle to dive into the day's activities, I left that lil schedule shoved into my air vent.

You see, while I fully intended wider coverage of AnimeNext, my ADHD addled brains are assaulted with a SEA of cosplayers on a beautiful lawn, surrounded by twisting trees, on a cloudless summer day with the tiniest breeze to kiss our sweaty faces...and so all dissolved away and I wanted to take ALL THE COSPLAYER PEEEECTURES. You could not blame me. AnimeNext boasts a range of skill level across the board when it comes to cosplaying, with zero attitude from anyone, anywhere, and so it's all great fun. What did I have to compete with this spectacle?

Get Ready for Sailor Moon Crystal

SXSW 2014: A Heather Buckley Adventure

Prologue: After much adventure through these past weeks, these notes were written on the way to a shattered city—a pile of rusted steel known as Detroit. If it is one thing we can say, to keep adventuring, is to keep the spirit alive at its fullest and fan the fire which will always hunger for more. I have not stopped moving since the film shoot went down in Odessa, TX.

It was first brought to my attention that a 4k restoration of Texas Chain Saw Massacre was to be premièred at SXSW 2014. A relentless classic. Imitated. Worshiped. And Tobe Hooper was going to be there. Austin: the hometown of the saw. And the saw has always been family.

It was too late for press sponsorship at that point— I was off in Upstate New York doing FX shop coordination for We Are Still Here— when the deadline hit on February 5th. I asked about 12 of my peers: Was it worth it, could you do it with a pass? All agreed this was possible...but the madness of it all! I booked my flight, found a place to stay though my beloved Texas crew and off I went without a badge. To Texas.

What’s All This Then?: DC’s Weekly Addiction

WARNING: This article contains spoilers so if you are catching up and don't want some plot points revealed, go do your reading and come back later!!

By: Andrew O’Brien

This October I will be giving 9 dollars to DC Comics every week until April without even purchasing a monthly ongoing title from them. "Why Andy", you ask with anticipation. DC has decided to try and capture lightning in a bottle again by going back to their old tricks. What? You just started reading DC with the New 52? Well sit down and let me teach you about DC and their weekly addiction. In 2006 DC was coming off their highly regarded Infinite Crisis crossover, and decided to follow it up with a weekly series called 52. This was a high risk move because the series revolved around a year without Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman, instead focusing on many “B and C List” characters like Booster Gold, Black Adam, and Steel. To hedge their bets, the creative tour de force of Geoff Johns, Grant Morrison, Greg Rucka, Mark Waid, and Keith Giffen (plus the excellent editing skills of Steve Wacker) made the entire venture much less perilous and 52 was a tremendous success.

BEA 2014: The Star Wars Report: Rebels, LEGOS, Jeffrey Brown & More

We keep a running list in our heads of the topics we are gunning for, but we always make sure to scan everything we can, as there are surprises everywhere. It's like a live DVD Easter Egg hunt. One topic we have NO PROBLEM spotting around the show is Star Wars, which has no signs of slowing down, what with the new Rebels cartoon getting ready to air, and Jeffrey Brown's emencely popular children's book series (read mostly by adults I'm sure) going strong, as just 2 examples. With new films on the horizon, publishers know where to put their time and effort! We've got a lot to show you so let's get started...
