Galactus: The Devourer of Worlds Has Come

Hasbro Marvel Comics Galactus Action Figure 012
What will surely go down as one of the best action figures ever made has finally arrived at the doorsteps of die hard Marvel collectors, action figure aficionados and those with 400 bucks to blow on a once in a life time toy project. That year long gamble and half a rent check, in my opinion, is well worth it when you slide all 3 feet of Galactus out of his box and are reminded there are three Marvel Legends heralds packed right along side him. His eyes light up, his chest and head piece blinds and each finger moves in every direction an imaginative or juvenile mind could imagine. You've seen many pictures of this behemoth already, most of which depicted Galactus as a newly adopted child going on many, many suburban adventures (and conquering toilet challenges), as well as those all important video reviews, so we'll skip all that gushing and go right for the eye candy.

NYCC 2022: Ghostrider's Engine of Vengeance @ Marvel

NYCC 2022 Marvel Legends Ghostrider Engine of Vengeance 008
New York Comic Con is in full swing as we speak, with the largest geek-fest on the East Coast finding its sea legs in a post-Covid-lockdown world. While the vibe is said to be significantly different, the enthusiasm of fans hungry to celebrate their fandoms and visit with long-missed friends is evident in every corner of the massive halls. One such missed brother is Matt Booker of the UK based Fanthatracks.com, who sent in these pictures of the latest Hasbro Pulse funding project known as GHOST RIDER: ENGINE OF VENGEANCE. Since the project's launch, Hasbro has added the hellish fiend Mephisto and the Goblin Queen action figures to sweeten the pot. Check out the project details...

A She-Hulk Toy Appreciation Post (Gallery Inside!)

She-Hulk Appreciation Action Figure Shoot 023
The Single Green Female run of She-Hulk is one of my favorite comic runs of all time. The subject matter hits on all levels for me. You get an exploration of Marvel's New York City that goes beyond the doors of the Avengers Mansion or the Baxter Building, showing villains and heroes alike just trying to live in their respective worlds. When the full weight of the American Judicial System comes down on either side, Jennifer Walters is there to defend the superpowered in a story that is borderline genius, but more often than not, also highly comedic. The world is ridiculous, so it stands to reason it would be 100x more in the powered community.

Hasbro Unveils Marvel Retro Series X-Men Action Figure Wave

Hasbro Marvel Retro Series X-Men Action Figures
Oh dam. Hold onto your wallet TIGHTLY. This is going to cause the dollars to jump from your pockets. Hasbro have been releasing retro packaged action figures in between their Marvel Legends waves for a little over a year now (maybe longer) and while they are a welcome addition to those Marvel obsessed collections AND have provided a way to get much needed action figures which have sky rocketed in price into the hands of the poor johnny or jane come lately, they weren't really blowing anyone's hair back. NOW...with the release of an all X-Men wave with art echoing those KBToys 3 for 10 Toy Biz action figures....there is...a mighty need.

CELEBRATE BLACK PANTHER DAY!!

Marvel Legends Black Panther Wave from Entertainment Earth
Being who I am, I'm sure I can only scratch the surface of how important it is for a film like Black Panther to hit the big screen across the globe, in such a big way. I know it's massive and I love the character, but i'm positive I'm not feeling the full weight of what a monumental day this is. As such, I thought we'd celebrate with our friends at Entertainment Earth who graciously granted us access to a set of Black Panther Marvel Legends action figures....and to say we went overboard is an understatement. Two hours of shooting time and another 2 for editing and we've got a chunky gallery of images ready for your Black Panther day celebrations! Let's get into it...

Toy Fair 2018: Hasbro's Marvel Toy Lineup

Ready your bank account and hide your wallet...it's time to tabulate how broke you are going to be for the rest of the year!! Marvel Legends have been a blessing and a curse to Marvel Comics and Marvel Cinematic Universe fans alike. With an average 23 dollar price point for each figure and a Build-A-Figure in each wave, taunting you to buy the lot in one go, we may as well be signing our bank accounts over to Hasbro! Well friends, we have news for you. IT'S GOING TO GET WORSE!! With the Black Panther wave having just settled into retail stores across the globe, we've gotten word that the Spider-Man Lizard BAF wave is also hitting hard, with the Deadpool Sasquatch BAF wave close behind...and bringing up the rear across the waters in international territories, the Avengers Infinity Wars wave!!! Do the math on that. It means we are all eating ramen for a couple of months. Let's take a look at the run down for 2018, exploring the much sought after Legends and the "kid targeted" lines alike to get a clear view of the insanity coming up fast.

Toys R Us Teases a Marvel Legends Days of Future Past Boxed Set

Toys R Us Teases Future Marvel Legends Days of Future Past Boxed Set
As we crawl into 2018 with a Marvel Legends Hydra action figure 2 pack in Toys R U stores, heralding a promise from Hasbro that they've heard our cries for army builders and will deliver, there's one army that loads of collectors would like to take a stab at, with cost being a major factor. SENTINELS!! Die-hard collectors will note the Sentinel Build A Figure from Toy Biz is the benchmark for this X-Men robot nemesis. Hasbro have tackled Sentinels in the Marvel Universe series, utilizing a more classic style and, sadly, a Galactus body, complete with abs and a belly button. ROBOTS DON'T GOT NO MOMMAS!! Now, a friendly vid from Toys R Us teases another round of Sentinel madness on the toy shelves...

HASCON 2017: Marvel Legends Continue to Dominate

Hascon 2017 Hasbro Marvel Legends Action Figures
As expected, Hasbro was not going to waste the opportunity to show off as much new product as possible at their first ever HASCON in Providence, RI. While a full lineup of Black Panther merchandise was absolutely the show stopper, long time Legends fans were lighting the message boards ablaze with talk of new figure reveals and what each character selection means for future waves of action figures. For us at Idle Hands, we read NOTHING into anything Hasbro does these days. It's clear the creatives over there have a wishlist they are running down, including Toy Biz figures in dire need of a Hasbro update, movie and TV stars they can now do justice to with the help of new sculpting technology, and characters they never dreamed they would be allowed to make before as retailer faith in the brand reaches new highs, allowing for waves of characters not weighed down by obligatory inclusions of Captain America, Iron Man and Spider-Man variants. Let's take a look at what Hasbro revealed on the show floor this past weekend...

Hasbro's Ever Evolving Marvel Legends

Hasbro Marvel Legends 2017
As a fairly hardcore fan of Marvel Comics and more specifically, the Marvel Legends action figure line created by Toy Biz and now residing at Hasbro, I feel I am very well equipped to talk about the fandom standing behind this 6 inch action figure line, able to speak on our proudest moments and our biggest gripes. The most common refrain from die hard fans like myself would be "DOESN'T HASBRO WANT MY MONEY??!!" This cry of anguish usually comes after painful tales of new product shipped in short supply, missed at retail as hordes of scalpers gobble them up...the lament of not having picked up a figure that is now going for upwards of 200 dollars or more and other well warranted communal moans. Well folks, we here at Idle Hands are pleased as all hell to finally say HASBRO IS LISTENING!!!

Toy Fair 2017: Sniffly & Sleep Deprived But Still Uploading!!

So this year I decided to get convention crud BEFORE the actual event...you know..just to be different. I'm also rocking coverage out on a tiny netbook that seems to have the collective brain power of a Speak and Spell, so the processing of images we are gathering every day at Toy Fair 2017 is slooooow going, but it's going! Just a reminder that, for the sake of speed, some categories might go straight to Flickr image galleries, so check there for updates of the awesome plastics you crave.

Toy Fair 2017: Hasbro Teases Upcoming Marvel Action Figure Releases *UPDATED: 2/4*

Toy Fair 2017 Hasbro Marvel Action Figures

We've been tipped off by Marvelousnews (via Facebook) about a "rumored" batch of Marvel legends listings. We were familiar with the website they named as the source so we did a little digging and found the listings. Since retailers aren't in the habit of listing things for sale that don't exist, we are going to call this one confirmed! Time will tell I suppose, but really, why list if it's not real? They have better things to do. Here's what's on tap, if the website is to be believed...

Hasbro's 12" Marvel Legends Captain America Reviewed

Hasbro Marvel Legends 12 inch Captain America action figure
By Darian S. Kovach

This is my first review for Idlehands. This is a really good thing. Why? Because I REALLY like discussing myself, things I like, things I don’t like, things I may like… really, the list goes on and on. Honestly, if you’ve spoken to me in the last few decades, there was a 50-50 chance I was waiting on you to stop talking so I can talk more about me. So this idlehands thing is huge, because I love action figures and I really enjoy talking about them.

My first review: The brand new Marvel Legends 12 inch 1:6 scale Captain America. Let’s start with the first thing you notice; the box. As boxes go, it’s very shiny and is square. You can imagine my shock when they went for a more traditional box. I thought by now, holographic Tupac would be delivering action figures to me personally. This didn’t happen, so I went ahead and took matters into my own hands and inspected the box. As with most modern day action figure boxes, there is a nice preview panel in front with a few pieces of tape I had to cut to get into the plastic goodness found inside. Pretty standard fare these days, catering to both the collector and the 12 year old who happens to have $50 cash on them. Did I say $50? I paid $39.99 for mine on preorder because I’m special (and by “special” I mean “someone else told me about the deal and I jumped on board”). However, the standard msrp seems to come in at the $50 mark. Which, when you consider a 1:6 scale Hot Toy averages around $225, it isn’t too shabby.

Toy Fair 2016: Marvel Legends Captain America Civil War 6 inch Action Figure Images Drop

Sorry to beat a dead horse...and I promise we'll get to another company/topic very soon! But right now, some lucky guy (who is probably in deep trouble right now) got to sit in front of a display of new Captain America/ Civil War Marvel Legends 6 inch action figures and took some lovely pictures he then shared with the world...or one friend who then went OH MY GOD YOU GUYS LOOK AT THE PLASTIC!!! ...and then they were everywhere. We've got images of Black Panther (Civil War Movie), Iron Man (Civil War Movie) and Nick Fury (Classic Comic), from a wave that's reported to include a Build-A-Figure Giant Man (Civil War Movie), Captain America (Civil War Movie), Nuke (Comic Version) and Red Guardian (Comic Version). ...That last figure wins the "did not see that coming" award. I don't think I've ever even read a comic with Red Guardian in it.

Toy Fair 2016: Hasbro's Marvel Legends 3.75 inch Comic 2 Packs Return

If there's one thing toy fans can say Hasbro is 100% great at, it's branding. Their Star Wars Black Series strikes an impressive visual on the shabby toy pegs of any retail store. When something like that works, you see what else you can extend the brand to include...like 3.75 inch figures, roleplay items and more. The packaging instantly screams "THIS IS A COLLECTOR PIECE"...even though the toy screams to be let out of it's packaging so you can make pew pew noises. With the renewed interest in 6 inch Marvel Legends, Hasbro has now taken the name over to their 3.75 inch Marvel Comics action figure line and have no plans of slowing down production.

Toy Fair 2016: A Second Chance at The Avengers Action Figures

As a collector of Marvel Legends (or really any modern action figure line), the hunt can be brutal. Miss a figure during it's retail window and you must pay the Ebay demons. Miss that hiked up run and a figure can rocket to upwards of 300 dollars within in a few years. Gone are the days when you could hit KB Toys and raid their 3 for 10 bin, containing generic repacks of all of Toy Biz's heavy hitters... Color Changing Ice Man, Removable Mask Venom, Color Changing Sue Storm (they really liked the color changing gimmick!)...they were all in there. Most of the time, if you missed a figure the first time around and the price jumped, you'd get a second shot at it. The packaging was different and the paint might have been slightly altered, but it was YOURS. Now, Hasbro might be giving us a hint at those glory days returning with a new wave of "Best of Avengers" containing all those movie stars you missed in Exclusive Walmart waves and boxed sets too rich for your wallet.

Entertainment Earth's Guardians of the Galaxy 5-Pack For Die Hard Comic Fans

Does it mirror the ultra famous Hollywood adventure squad? NOPE! Does this 5 pack of action figure fury resemble the brand new cartoon series launched on Disney XD this past weekend? Not exactly! This mega exclusive 5 figure pack of the Guardians of the Galaxy is based on the comic book versions of Marvel's newest movie stars, and so we say they are for YOU, the ultra comic book fan who longs for a complete, all encompassing Mighty Marvel Plastic Universe. Entertainment Earth to the rescue!

SDCC 2015: Hasbro's Marvel Action Figure Train Does Not Stop

2015 has already been a banner year for Marvel Legends collectors who are finding it hard just to keep up with the relentless releases of 6 inch action figures, and at 22 dollars a pop in some places, I feel your pain! Marvel is my jam...and my jam requires 2 full time jobs to pay for it. Let's take a look at everything Hasbro showed off for the Mighty Marvel Universe, well into 2016...

Pics by Emilie Noetzel, Hailey Mordah and a couple of extras from Awesometoyblog.com with info bits from Ben Delloiacono and myself

Marvel Legends 2016 leads off with Captain America: Civil War. Red Skull Onslaught Build-A-Figure forms the center of this wave with a Classic Captain America (believe it or not, the first Classic Cap Hasbro has done according to pr reps), Mockingbird and Taskmaster. Taskmaster gets an alternate Udon head and Cap becomes CAP WOLF!! It's silly..it's ridiculous...it's Marvel. Yay. Hasbro reps teased that more Marvel Cinematic Universe (aka Movie stars) characters could show up under the Civil War banner, with Vision, Scarlet Witch and Falcon mentioned as possibilities.

SDCC 2015: Hasbro's Doctor Strange Marvel Legends Set Will Melt Faces

Oh Man. The Thunderbolts set? I could wait..and I waited..and I traded for it and I'm happy. The Thanos set? Prices are still a bit crazy, so I'll wait it out. There's nothing i'm DYING to have in there, but the completest in me still begs for it...and it's pricey..so I wait. Now...this...demonic...thing. Oh man, I was never a huge Doctor Strange fan, or an avid reader of his comics...but the wanting.....it's real. It's a pain that will linger. If there was ever a time for Hasbro to call TRUCE on me and show their love by sending over their SDCC exclusives, NOW IS THAT TIME. Can't we all just love each other?

SDCC 2014: Hasbro's Marvel Comics Legends, 3.75 inch & Mashers Action Figures

Our San Diego Comic-Con 2014 coverage marches on with a run down of one of my favorite topics..MARVEL COMICS! Hasbro continues to be the uber licensor for Marvel super posable action figures in a 6 and 3.75 inch scale, with Marvel Universe morphing into Marvel Infinite Series figures and Legends returning in a big way, rebranded as Marvel Legends Infinite Series. Yea..it's a little confusing when you go to talk to someone not so experienced with the line, so collectors are still just calling them Legends and Universe. Ah...for a simpler time. Also added this past year was a wildly popular line called Mashers which ignite the creative instincts of children as they build their favorite heroes and villains and are able to mix and match parts...and delight hardcore collectors as they put Tony Stark's snarky head on The Hulk's body. We are easily amused. Let's check out what was announced at SDCC 2014...

2014 Preview: Hasbro's Captain America: Winter Soldier Toy Line

2014 toy coverage continues with more from Marvel Studios' massive Marvel Comics films! ...and as usual, the reveals are somewhat diminished by the figures already hitting the west coast. So far, hardcore toy collectors have found the 6 inch figures at Target stores with 3.75 inch figures following close behind, most likely found in the same regions, though we have not confirmed that. Here's what's to come.
