Never underestimate the power of cute. Funko knows this all to well, having consecutive hits with their Plushie and Pop! Vinyl figure lines. Few companies have ever translated multiple properties to plush toys and plastic figures with such perfection. Now, Funko adds our favorite pop culture icons to your shelf with POP! Movies and they are kicking things off with our favorite creeps made irresistible. Completely and utterly irresistible. The first wave includes...

Beetlejuice

POP! Movies vinyl figures measure 3 and 3/4 inches tall and have 1 whoooole point of articulation, being a swivel head. Stand back so all that ACTION doesn't knock you on your ass. Look for them this February!

Holiday TOY WARS

Black Friday is generally seen as the day to abandon all humanity and launch, head first, into the squirming gene pool of commerce that floods retail stores at 4am. Why would someone subject themselves to this pain and mental scarring? DEALS!! Despite what the government would have you believe with their Christmas celebration that most likely uses our money in a disgusting display of elitism...we are still in a recession... which means everyone is hurting, so the brick and mortar stores will go head to head, right up to Christmas day, battling for your holy dollar.

Toys R Us : Stores nationwide will remain open for 88 consecutive hours beginning at 6am on Tuesday, December 21 and continuing through 10pm on Christmas Eve*, offering the most last-minute shoppers every opportunity to find the right toy for the child on their holiday gift lists. This is the first time that all Toys“R”Us stores across the country will stay open 24-hours per day during the final countdown to Christmas.

Additionally, on Tuesday, December 21 and Wednesday, December 22, the company’s final two-day sale of the season will offer holiday shoppers incredible deals and values, with savings of 50% or more on featured items. And, even with Christmas just a few days away, Toys“R”Us stores remain stocked with the hottest toys of the season, including Sing-a-ma-jigs!™ from Mattel®, Disney® Princess & Me™ dolls from JAKKS Pacific® and Fast Lane® Wild Fire RC cars from Toys“R”Us.

Toys“R”Us stores also continue to receive daily deliveries of new products, such as Nerf N-Strike™ Sonic Series™ translucent green blasters from Hasbro®, Dave the Funky Shoulder Monkey, a robotic pet monkey, from Wow! Stuff™ and American Girl® craft sets, including scrapbook, sewing and jewelry kits, from EK Success®.

“We are committed to keeping our stores open continuously during the days leading up to Christmas to ensure shoppers have all the time they need to cross off everything on their little ones’ wish lists,” said Greg Ahearn, Senior Vice President, Marketing and e-commerce, Toys“R”Us, Inc. “Each day, from now through Christmas Eve, our stores continue to receive shipments of the hot products to help parents find that ‘must-have’ toy to put under the tree.”

In addition to ongoing savings on the hottest products, Toys“R”Us will offer special “Midnight Madness” deals valid in-store from midnight through 6am each day, beginning at midnight December 22. These offers will be sent to customers each day via e-mail.

Toys“R”Us Times Square Gives the ‘City that Never Sleeps’ Even More Hours to Shop

To help New Yorkers and out-of-town visitors find time to complete their last-minute holiday shopping, Toys“R”Us Times Square will remain open from 6am on Friday, December 17 through 10pm on Christmas Eve, providing gift-givers with 184 continuous hours of shopping. In addition to offering the same deals and savings as Toys“R”Us stores nationwide, customers at Toys“R”Us Times Square can hear the roar of the life-sized T-Rex dinosaur or make themselves at home in the 4,000 square-foot Barbie® dollhouse, two of the store’s many unique attractions.

KMart : Kmart announced it will offer last-minute holiday shoppers reduced prices1 on more than 1,400 must-have toys to help shoppers finish their Christmas lists. Just last week, the average person admitted they had only completed nearly half of their holiday shopping, leaving most Americans with a lot of shopping to still do, according to National Retail Federation’s 2010 Holiday Consumer Intentions and Actions Survey, conducted by BIGresearch.

With so many last minute cost-conscious shoppers, Kmart is helping make this holiday season easier and more affordable for all families. In addition to extended store hours, Kmart will offer special deals on toys starting today through Dec. 24 so customers can still get fabulous gifts at a great value.

Additionally, Kmart is offering customers special deals on popular items every kid has on their list. For example, when you purchase toys like Lego, Kung Zhu and remote control cars, deep discounts will be offered on the second purchase.

“We’re dedicated to offering our customers great prices on the best toys of the season. With only nine days left until Christmas, we are offering last-minute shoppers great deals to help them complete their lists,” said Dev Mukherjee, president of Seasonal, Toys and Home Appliances for Sears Holdings. “We’ve listened to our customers and know that they are still looking to get great deals on toys that will make their child’s Christmas more memorable. To help make this happen, we have extended our sales to offer an incredible selection of toys at unbelievable prices.”

Leading up to Christmas, savvy shoppers can find many of the hottest toy brands on sale at Kmart. Some examples include:
• 20 percent off select WWE, Bakugan and Tech Deck
• 30 percent off all Nerf Sports items
• 20 percent off select Toy Story toys
• 25 percent off all Moon Dough
• 25 percent off all Mattel Games
• $9.99 Hasbro Board Games, including select classic board games such as Sorry, Hungry Hungry Hippo, Connect 4, Twister, Scrabble, Monopoly, Trouble.

In addition, Kmart offers some of the most sought-after toys at best-of-the-season prices, including:
• Apples to Apples for $9.99
• Liv Fashion Dolls for $9.99
• Nerf-N-Strike Deploy CS-6 Blaster for $14.99
• Play-Dough Mega Fun Factory for $14.99
• Baby Alive “Bouncing Baby Babbles” for $17.99
• Mind Flex for $54.99

OK maybe its not so much a war as it is a skirmish. Upon checking in with Target and Walmart, it seems business as usual with average holiday hours but no huge week before sales announcements. I'd keep watching though!

Conan VS DC Comics + Robot Chicken Star Wars = Happy Time

No, not really, but it was a compelling title. ARE YOU NOT COMPELLED??!! Recently, our pal Conan visited the Warner Brothers animation wing and after sexually harassing the people who work there for hours, sat down with Peter Girardi, creative director of WB animation to discuss the complexities of bringing your favorite heroes to life. Of course, this is Conan, so there will be moments where things go horribly wrong (or Awesome, depending on your level of perversity.) Watch the magic happen as the perfect intro to your weekend of black outs and unexplained scratch marks.

And just to round things out, Seth Green stopped by Conan to deliver a special holiday rape to Conan's action figure. How do YOU celebrate? Don't judge. Seth also brought a clip from the new Robot Chicken Star Wars Episode 3 special which has my favorite scene of the whoooooole show!! Watch NOW!

A Very ThinkGeek Christmas!

While other sites have done their best to show you all the awesome stuff you should be buying for the dorkiest in your life this Holiday season, I've been watching Robot Chicken and buying a 2 foot long Millennium Falcon...but that doesn't mean I don't love you. To prove my devotion, here are some of the best new items you can score from the madmen over at ThinkGeek, perhaps with the money your stepdad gives you to buy your love, yes? Let's begin!

Canned Unicorn Meat : Oddly enough, when you plug Unicorn into the ThinkGeek search, a whooole page of wonder opens up. Oddly enough, Unicorn is one of the few things you can punch into Google without seeing boobs. It's a fact! Horrify your vegan friends with this, a most thoughtful gift. Upon figuring out how to open the can, you'll find a fuzzy little friend inside, conveniently split into small portions for easier transport and posing on your Hummel shelf.

TannenBomb Prank Holiday Ornament
: The ultimate geek ornament. Robots and Zombies. Who could say no?! Once your victim accepts your mind shattering present and hangs it on their tree, the fun begins. Half an hour later, sounds creep into the air...coming from an unseen source and soon enough, driving them MAD!!! Eventually, you'll find your best pal in their underwear at the local convenience store screaming they need all the straws to build a fence strong enough to keep the meerkats out. Let's watch this re-enactment...

Star Trek
Enterprise Pizza Cutter : This one is very straightforward and won't cause your friends any heart ache and therefore, it is not as fun...but it sure is shiny!! I have nothing snarky to say about this pretty implement of pizza carving doom, so I'll let ThinkGeek handle this one...

You'll find that even though the prime mission of the Enterprise has now become very pizza centric, the chrome plated metal construction and padded gift box make the Enterprise pizza cutter a true Star Trek collectible. Plus it looks great on your desk even when not being used to cut your favorite cheese and sauce laden foods.

Electronic Spy Camera Shirt : This particular item was so awesome, we had to give it a SPY ROAD TEST!!! The first obstacle was the color, which is a sort of Aqua Marine Blue. Not many people can rock that color, so I threw it on and relied on my natural sex appeal to carry me through the day. It may have been just enough. The second obstacle was revealed after returning home from a stop at China Buffet and some toy shopping. Apparently, you have to be fairly flat chested to operate this thing. I've got a manly, Magnum P.I. chest which made the camera point skyward, so I got some awesome pictures of people's heads and one awesome sky shot. Of course, no one knew I was shooting these images, so VICTORY WAS MINE!!! I will note that the switch to shoot pics powers down after a while so you don't forget it is in your pocket and burn through the batteries. It was insanely easy to hook he device up to the computer and retrieve the pictures, so there's another point in the plus category. Also, since all the camera gear is removable allowing you to wash the shirt, there's no reason you can't attach it to another, way cooler and more covert shirt than the bright blue one it comes with! You'll have to sew on a bit of Velcro, but its a small price to pay for the ultimate sneaky shirt of the century. Just think of all the cleavage shots you can come home with.

Happy Holidays from Idle Hands and ThinkGeek!

True Blood Holiday Commercial

SOOOOOOKIE!! I love the hell out of this commercial and after 2 minutes of strenuous googling, I found it for my cave dwelling friends who do not have cable and have to resort to things like Light Brite and the old laser pen + cat game. This holiday season, remember to think hard about what to get the ones you love but if it leads to carpentry and you aren't generally a carpenter, you should probably put the tools down. MERRY CHRISTMAS SOOOOKIEEEE!! And now..laugh time. Enjoy!

Invincible Iron Man Hits 500

I love these vids. It allows me to fool myself into thinking we have more Marvel cartoons to watch. OHHHH IF IT WERE SO!!! Baa. Anyways, here's the skinny and then...EYE CANDY! I swear its eye candy day here. Try not to strain yourself.

Three generations of Starks face their ultimate foe, seventy-some years in the future while, in the present, Spider-Man joins Iron Man as he tries to fill in the blanks of his missing memory. What if amnesia was a weapon? What if the smartest man in the land had ten nightmares that all came true? Who is the son of Tony Stark? What's inside of the rings? The future starts now, for the Marvel Universe's favorite futurist. The Eisner-award-winning series makes a four-hundred-something-issue leap and raises a glass of non-alcoholic champale in salute to Ol' Shell-head! By Matt Fraction (THOR, UNCANNY X-MEN, CASANOVA) and Salvador Larroca (UNCANNY X-MEN, FANTASTIC FOUR), with special guests Carmine Di Giandomenico, Nathan Fox and KANO!

New Sucker Punch Vid & Eye Candy

Even though I've now seen Tron and was fairly underwhelmed, I'm still psyched for the insanity of Sucker Punch! It's Zack Snyder. He made fucking OWLS doing battle in medieval garb fun to watch. The man can do no wrong. We've got battle mech suits, fire breathing dragons, evil WWII looking storm troopers, giant gatling gun toting Samurai with glowing eyes, soulless robots and hot girls blowing everything to kingdom come. What's not to love? Now Warner Brothers drops some Holiday cheer on us with a featurette stacked miles high with new footage to oooo, ahhhh and Oh Holy Shit over. Observe...

Close your eyes. Open your mind. You will be unprepared. "Sucker Punch" is an epic action fantasy that takes us into the vivid imagination of a young girl whose dream world provides the ultimate escape from her darker reality. Unrestrained by the boundaries of time and place, she is free to go where her mind takes her, and her incredible adventures blur the lines between what's real and what is imaginary. She has been locked away against her will, but Babydoll (Emily Browning) has not lost her will to survive. Determined to fight for her freedom, she urges four other young girls--the outspoken Rocket (Jena Malone), the street-smart Blondie (Vanessa Hudgens), the fiercely loyal Amber (Jamie Chung) and the reluctant Sweet Pea (Abbie Cornish)--to band together and try to escape their terrible fate at the hands of their captors, Blue (Oscar Isaac), Madam Gorski (Carla Gugino) and the High Roller (Jon Hamm). Led by Babydoll, the girls engage in fantastical warfare against everything from samurais to serpents, with a virtual arsenal at their disposal. Together, they must decide what they are willing to sacrifice in order to stay alive. But with the help of a Wise Man (Scott Glenn), their unbelievable journey--if they succeed--will set them free.
