E3, the legendary gaming industry event, returns to the Los Angeles Convention Center (LACC) for a four-day expo from Tuesday, June 13 through Friday, June 16, 2023 and will feature separate industry and consumer days and spaces. Additionally, E3 will support and uplift partnered digital events taking place starting June 11 and running throughout the show.
E3 Business Days will take place Tuesday, June 13 to Thursday, June 15, reserved exclusively for registered industry personnel to network in-person, hold professional meetings, and connect with licensors and distributors. Amidst dedicated, industry-only halls and spaces, media can go hands-on with upcoming games showcased by developers and publishers from around the world.
Everyone looks to E3 to see the latest and greatest big
budget games, but more and more we’re starting to see lower budget games from
smaller teams making a splash at the show. EA’s press conference talked about
Star Wars at length. They talked about Madden and FIFA. They showed the
beautiful Mirror’s Edge Catalyst. While these games were being talked about,
and in the case of Star Wars Battlefront, it seemed like everyone was talking
about it, there was one other game that stood out from others. That game is “Unravel”.
While LEGO Dimensions is only the latest entry into the
games and toys genre that started with Activision’s Skylanders and has been
embraced by Disney with the Disney Infinity games, and with Nintendo’s amiibo
toys which work with a wide variety of games, LEGO Dimensions certainly looks
to be taking the genre in a fresh direction.
A couple of years back, Oculus VR made massive waves at E3
with a very early prototype of their VR headset, and while they still haven’t
launched just yet, the success of their prototype VR headsets have inspired a
lot of excitement and a lot of other companies to get involved in virtual
reality in a big way. This year there are at least five different VR headsets
on show at E3, and that’s not including Microsoft’s own augmented reality
concept, the Holo-Lens.
What would E3 be without the pre-show press conferences?
Every year, gamers look forwards to the press events from Microsoft, Sony and
Nintendo to see the latest announcements, and hope that their favorite
system will ‘win’ E3 with some huge news. In many ways it’s
the World Series for the video game fanboy.

While the announcement of the heavily rumored Fallout 4
wasn’t a huge surprise, that isn’t to say that the announcement of the game
didn’t bring with it some big surprises. While many had correctly guessed that
the game would be set in Boston, what hadn’t really been rumored was that for
the first time we would get to play in the pre nuclear war era even if only for
a short while.
Fallout 4 pits the player as the sole survivor of Vault 111,
one of the many nuclear bunkers built by Vault-tec that the lucky few were able
to use to survive nuclear Armageddon at some point in the fifties.
Worldwide video game publisher, Little Orbit, announced the blockbuster lineup of video games it will showcase at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3). Little Orbit will have on hand some of today's most fun and successful franchises including Adventure Time, Kung Fu Panda, Monster High, and Barbie. Playable titles will be on hand to demo in Meeting Room 307 in the South Hall.
Again, we have a common theme; Humans vs Aliens with green guts exploding across a devastated landscape...so..yea...it's not one we are becoming bored of any time soon! LEGO Lord of the Rings : Warner Brothers Interactive is back with more brick madness, adding the Lord of the Rings saga to their already full stable of LEGO games! How will WBI handle such weighty subject matter? With the usual LEGO with and charm, of course. The most immediate difference from past games is the inclusion of dialogue straight from the films in place of the usual LEGO monosyllabic grunting. The Verge reports you will be able to switch between a number of characters from the Fellowship, at any given time, utilizing their special skills to solve puzzles, defeat cave trolls, and so on, playing all through the trilogy.
Tomb Raider: March 5th 2013 - Lara Croft returns in a tale seemingly based in stark reality! Giant rampaging statue monsters are replaced by the horrors of man as Lara pushes herself to survive each night with little comforts, rescue her comrades and most importantly STAY ALIVE. Crystal Dynamics appears to throw survival horror elements into the mix with a definitive story line that looks to keep the player glued in as if they were watching a cinematic thriller straight from Lionsgate.

Injustice: Gods Among Us : From the creators of Mortal Kombat comes the ultimate throwdown among DC Universe titans!! Bad...good...there is no distinction in this game where you can roll out your dream battle royale and utilize the core powers of your favorite metahumans (or humans with pretty, destructive toys) to smash your opponent to bits. The styling on the costumes is SLIGHTLY reminiscent of the recent DC NEW52 revamp, but you'll note some key changes. Poor Harley Quinn gets a new costume..AGAIN. Readers will note that the last time DC characters took on the fighters of Mortal Kombat, their fatalities and such were not as brutal as the game would normally show. WB is very careful that their characters be cast in a specific light. I suspect the outfit redesign has a lot to do with this, the thought being that the public, while playing Superman whupping ass on Wonder Woman, is not playing the ICONIC versions of these characters..and so all bets are off! In Elseworlds comics, you can write whatever past and future you like and if Batman eats Batmite in the course of the story, so be it! Think of this game in those terms and the suit redesigns make a lot more sense. Of course, this is all a theory, but the bottom line is this is not something we expect to see spilling over into the comics....unless the public loves it. heh. WBI provided some stills and we pulled some zooms for our cosplaying ladies, so drink it up! (we didn't pull zooms of the men's costumes because, honestly, they are armory shite. like new52 x 100. blek)

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance : Blood...swords...carnage carnage carnage. The series you know and love seems to have taken a slight turn down the road to crazy town. Why sneak up on a dude when you are a cyber ninja who can cut said dude in half with a sword, right? The game doesn't drop until early 2013, so I'm sure we'll be seeing a lot more gameplay as long time fans lose their minds over this little bit.

Those who were watching US Toy Fair 2010 and spotted the new DC Direct Sweet Tooth figure knew this day was coming! The Twisted Metal franchise gets 20,000 volts of electricity to its nether regions and returns with areal attacks, multiple combatant gameplay and Dark Knight Returns-esque factions of Sweet Tooth Clowns and Doll Face..umm..Action Figures? (go marketing!) setting fire to the city. It's all out mayhem in the city streets when Twisted Metal comes to your town!! We know this is going to be the best Twisted Metal ever released. 16 players online, 2-4 player split screen, amazing new game modes, helicopters, motorcycles, sports cars, all battling it out in highly interactive levels with all the skill, speed, and strategy you could ask for! It’s been a long while since the last console Twisted Metal was released, but we think the wait will have been worth it. We’re crazy proud of the new game and are looking forward to entertaining all of the loyal TM fans as well as earning many new Twisted Metal devotees with this title.
