Disneyland's Iron Man 3 Hall of Armors
Emilie Noetzel is an excellent photographer that has been covering events like Wondercon and San Diego Comic Con for years now, for Idle Hands, delivering killer pics of all the collectibles you love so dearly. And some days.....my jealousy of her has no bounds. NO BOUNDS!!! Just the other day she dropped in on Disneyland and said hello to all the Iron Man 3 armors...like it was nothing. "OHai armors. Just passing through. Maybe I'll take a couple of pictures. Lovely. Now show me something exciting, please and thank you." ARG! Some days I think I'm on the wrong coast, but then I'd miss things like seasons and driving in no traffic..and we all know my powers diminish the further I get from New York. I didn't want to go to stupid ole Disneyland anyways. Bleh.
Emi shot up the place for us, so we could live vicariously. ENJOY!

Iron Man 3 Reviewed
New York City is still rebuilding after an attack from Loki and Alien forces, and the world at large is reeling from the knowledge that there are super powered beings among us. One of those heroes of New York is merely a man in a high tech suit, haunted by the enormity of those events and his place in it. As Tony Stark contemplates his frailty in the scheme of things, he compensates by creating a suit of armor for every conceivable threat or emergency, which leaves little time for sleep and healthy relationships.
Iron Man 3 opens on a haggard Tony Stark perfecting his 42nd suit of armor..one which will literally jump to his aid at his merest thought..which should tell you something about his mental state. The world has become a very dangerous place with The Mandarin threatening terrorist actions and our government getting nowhere with tracking him down or even plotting his next move. Luckily, we have War Machine, now repainted and renamed Iron Patriot, to defend us. Thrown into the mix is Aldrich Killian, a ghost from Tony's past who has remade himself into a slick rival and returned with a new technology that boasts the ability to upgrade our human abilities. Now the film evolves into a veritable game of chess. Tony becomes entangled in The Mandarin's plots and is also in the sights of Killian. Killian would add his genius to the scientific co-op dubbed A.I.M. (advanced idea mechanics), but if Tony were to refuse, The Mandarin might take him off the board completely, so it's a win win! The plot whizzes along with Tony struggling with his own personal eternal question; "Is it the suit that makes the man..or the man that makes the suit", while his whole world explodes around him, leaving him more vulnerable than he has ever been. Iron Man and Iron Patriot must stop the Mandarin and reveal Killian's role in all this chaos before more innocents get caught in the crossfire.

Tony Stark Carjacked
You may recall some time back, we got into a little dispute with Hasbro over some Iron Man 3 merchandise images we ran. I thought we should be allowed to run images already available and made public by Hasbro representatives online. Their line was I should only be running images they hand to me personally. Suffice to say, we disagreed. The largest point of their ire was over images of an "Assemblers Battle Vehicle" which allows Tony Stark to be rocketed into the action from the front of the car via high tech in-line skates, harkening back to the old skate boots that actually existed in classic Iron Man comics..or so we thought. The box or wordage that came with the product suggested this bit of ridiculous action was not just made to sell more Starkmobiles, but actually mimics a scene straight from the movie. The tenacity of Hasbro's legal department would suggest that information was correct.

Iron Man 3 Clip "Since New York"
You're a rich man with a genius intellect that decided your life's calling is helping mankind. Soon after, it seems you aren't the only being on planet Earth capable of super human feats...and that's OK because the world can use all the help it can get. ...But with the heroes come villains and super science run amok and aliens threatening world domination and fiends sneering at your world through holes in your dimension. It's all a bit much to handle...so you lose yourself in the work. A maniac appears with flamethrower hands...you build a fire suit and extinguish him. A gang of thieves figure out how to walk through walls...you build a stealth suit and hover over the city, waiting for their next move. There will never be a shortage of men and women lining up to take what they think is theirs, and so you must be ready to stop them..but where does it end? It's a big question...and one that keeps Tony Stark up at night.

Iron Man Mark XXXV: The "Red Snapper"
Life is rough for a recovering army builder. I fell off the wagon a couple of weeks ago after seeing Goblins on sale for 2 dollars each. I now own 7 of them...and am itching to hunt for more. The key to an excellent toy army is just enough diversity in your troops to make it look like a proper mob, without it being evident it's the same damn figure 50 times. To that end, there's probably nothing more appealing than Iron Man's Hall of Armors. Just think of it...an endless array of suit concepts, each one allowing for at least 3 to 4 repaints as time goes on, strapping on new accessories for a completely different look. The mind boggles at the possibilities. It seems Hot Toys is beginning to catch our particular ailment and today, gives us a brand new armor to drool over. Here's the latest from our friends across the water...

Iron Man 3 at Times Square Toys R Us
It's become tradition to put up some mind blowing display..usually of toys...sometimes of props...from the latest geekstravaganza about to hit the big screen. A mini celebration encased in plexiglass, if you will. For The Avengers, it was an all out war with Loki and his Chitauri warriors on the streets of New York City with the giant S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier looming overhead. For The Amazing Spider-Man, it was a selection of Peter Parker's gear including the mask and web shooters straight from the film. Now, with Iron Man 3 mere weeks away, Times Square Toys R Us has erected a mini hall of armors, awesome enough to stop any toy geek dead in his/her tracks and make them all to their knees. Oh...if only we could have an entire wall that looks like this....it's all full of stars... ~dies~

LEGO IRON MAN 3!!
It's becoming a bit of a tradition. As we approach the release date of the next massive Marvel Comics Blockbuster Film, we get all manner of spectacular eye candy...some worthy of hanging in film museums...and some complete photoshop abortions..but one poster always outshines them all...and that is the LEGO version of the key poster art. You can't debate this fact. No matter how cool your movie poster...if someone makes a LEGO version of it, it is instantly 600 times better.

The Iron Man 3 IMAX Poster
Where's the art, folks? Must I remind you of the golden age of movies when hand painted poster graced the lobbies of theaters across the globe? To a lesser extent, do I need to point to the excellent work of our friends at Lionsgate during the early days of Saw and Hostel? It's more than a bit sad when the multimillion dollar block buster movie's posters get outclassed but horror art. SHUDDER AT THE THOUGHT!! I'll go further and point to Mondo who TOTALLY get that we would love a little more showmanship behind the roll out of a film beyond the 16 trailers and clips making sure nothing is a surprise once you take your seat on opening day. Do we love what Mondo does with their artistic renditions of beloved movie posters? Does a sold out stack of 50 dollar posters give you a clue?

Iron Man 3 Minimates Emerge

The latest Iron Man 3 trailer has everyone talking about what kind of products we'll see on toy store shelves as the movie's release date approaches. And while they still need to keep some of their figures under wraps, Diamond Select Toys has unveiled two more Marvel Minimates based on the film!
The first, "Suit Up" Tony Stark, will be one of four Toys "R" Us-exclusive Minimates, and will come packaged with a mystery figure to be revealed later. He is shown wearing parts of the Mark 42 armor, which can be summoned and controlled via mental link in the film, as seen in the trailer. The boots and gauntlets will be removable, and Tony will also come with regular hands and shoes.
