Alamo Drafthouse Staten Island hosts Free Movie Day on December 28th

Alamo Drafthouse Staten Island Free Movie Day
Alamo Drafthouse Staten Island has the perfect way to discover your new favorite theater and break up the holiday doldrums between Christmas and New Year’s Eve – a Free Movie Day on Wednesday, December 28th. The acclaimed cinema eatery will welcome guests from Staten Island and beyond to experience its unique brand of film exhibition – with no talking or texting, custom ad-free pre-shows before every movie, and food and drinks delivered to your seat – with as many free movies as they can fit into a day. All guests have to do to reserve tickets is purchase a $5 food and beverage voucher for each screening they want to attend that can be redeemed toward the cinema’s renowned, made-from-scratch food and non-alcoholic beverages during the show. Tickets are available at drafthouse.com/nyc or via the Alamo Drafthouse mobile app.

“We’ve been blown away by the support since opening our Staten Island theater,” says Michael Kustermann, Chief Experience Officer. “This Free Movie Day is our way of welcoming more of the community in and thanking them for all of their support going into the new year.”

Guests can expect to see for free all of this holiday season’s biggest available films, including James Cameron’s AVATAR: THE WAY OF WATER, PUSS IN BOOTS: THE LAST WISH, and Damien Chazelle’s BABYLON. There will be plenty of exclusive specialty programming on offer as well, including THE IRON GIANT, GOODFELLAS, and IMPRACTICAL JOKERS.

Since opening its doors this past July at The Boulevard, Alamo Drafthouse Staten Island has seen a swell of support and enthusiasm from the Staten Island community. New releases such as director Ryan Coogler’s BLACK PANTHER: WAKANDA FOREVER and James Cameron’s AVATAR: THE WAY OF WATER have driven strong attendance through the holiday season, while exclusive programming such as Alamo Drafthouse’s famous ELF Movie Parties have delighted guests of all ages with themed props and interactive fun.

Flying Guillotine

Between their free screenings, guests of Alamo Drafthouse Staten Island can enjoy a local craft beer or signature cocktail from Flying Guillotine, a kung fu-themed bar and museum collaboration with Wu-Tang Clan founder RZA.

Like the century-old wax figure exhibits thoughtfully curated throughout Alamo Drafthouse Downtown Brooklyn’s House of Wax and the vast archive of over 60,000 letterpress film advertising plates adorning the walls of Alamo Drafthouse Lower Manhattan’s The Press Room, Flying Guillotine features posters and memorabilia spanning the history of kung fu cinema.

In addition to a tap wall of 45 draft beers, guests can enjoy two unique sections of the cocktail menu: Shaolin, featuring nine classic cocktails, and Wu-Tang, with nine original craft cocktails designed by bar manager Vincent Favella, previously of Brooklyn’s House of Wax and Lower Manhattan’s The Press Room. Flying Guillotine also features a giant 16’ Flying Guillotine overtop of the entry to the bar and board-breaking photo opportunity. Any purchase at the bar gets you a token for the exclusive Flying Guillotine claw game, and there are exact replicas of the three different Flying Guillotines (designed by Pretty in Plastic) used in all the flying guillotine films.
