Psych-pop Trio PSYCHIC LINES Announce 5th Studio Album 'SUNSET ON SUNSET'

Today, Brooklyn-based psych-pop trio Psychic Lines announces their fifth studio album SUNSET ON SUNSET due out August 23 and available for pre-order now. Alongside the announcement, the band shares bright, bouncy track and colorful, hand-drawn video "Mind Control" out now. SUNSET ON SUNSET sounds unlike any previous Psychic Lines release. Lead singer-songwriter Phil Jacob shares, "Lyrically, the album touches on all the delusions we cling to. UDON bringing Kenichi Sonoda to Comic-Con to Launch BUBBLEGUM CRISIS: COMPLETE ARCHIVE

Jeff Rice’s KOLCHAK: THE NIGHT STALKER Limited Edition Novel

In 1972 KOLCHAK: THE NIGHT STALKER transfixed audiences. The movie became the highest-rated TV movie in U.S. history and spawned the cult TV series starring Darren McGavin. The TV movie’s iconic screenplay was written by horror legend and novelist Richard Matheson (I Am Legend) and was based on an unpublished novel by Jeff Rice, which was released the following year. Now Bram Stoker Award-winning editor and writer James Aquilone and Monstrous Books have acquired the print rights to Kolchak and will be releasing a limited edition of Jeff Rice’s original, cult novel. The new, deluxe hardcover edition will feature a new foreword by writer and actor David Dastmalchian (Count Crowley; Late Night with the Devil), an all-new afterword by writer and producer Rodney Barnes (Killadelphia), an all-new essay on Jeff Rice by Kolchak expert Mark Dawidziak, (The Night Stalker Companion) and a cover and spot illustrations by Russ Braun (The Boys). The Monstrous Books deluxe hardcover edition of KOLCHAK: THE NIGHT STALKER will be funded via a Kickstarter campaign, with a limited print run of 1973 copies.

Prime Video Orders COUNTDOWN Starring Jensen Ackles, From Derek Haas

Prime Video announced it has ordered Countdown from Derek Haas (Chicago franchise, FBI: International), with Jensen Ackles (The Boys, Supernatural) attached to star. The 13-episode series was developed for Jensen Ackles, who is also under a first-look television deal with Amazon MGM Studios. This is the first series from Haas under his new exclusive overall deal with Amazon MGM Studios. Countdown will stream exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.

MGM+ Orders "THE INSTITUTE" Based on Stephen King Novel

Premium linear channel and streaming service MGM+ today announced a series order for The Institute, a drama thriller  based on the best-selling Stephen King novel. The Institute  will star Ben Barnes (Shadow and Bone, The Punisher, Westworld) as “Tim Jamieson” and Mary-Louise Parker (Weeds, Angels in America) as “Ms. Sigsby.” Production will take place in Nova Scotia later this year.

When 12-year-old genius Luke Ellis is kidnapped, he awakens at The Institute, a facility full of children who all got there the same way he did, and who are all possessed of unusual abilities. In a nearby town, haunted former police officer Tim Jamieson has come looking to start a new life, but the peace and quiet won’t last, as his story and Luke’s are destined to collide.

Tim Jamieson, played by Barnes, is a disillusioned ex-cop who takes a job as the night knocker in a small town, withdrawing from the world until Luke’s plight reignites him and gives him something to believe in.

We dug a little deeper into using more post production tools with editing stop motion and we were then able to achieve some of the twitchier skeletal sequences throughout. Also, by using overlays and multiple video images concurrently allowed us to add a little more texture and depth too. Paying homage to the A Giallo/Argento approach our use of alternative lighting let the intensity build along with the track which had a crescendo effect. All in all, we were pretty stoked with how the whole thing came together."
