LEGO Batman Movie Teaser Trailer Rises

This weekend, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice blasts onto theater screens across the planet with a cacophony of sound and visuals guaranteed to make your eyes beg for mercy. Not far off in the distance, there's a Batman movie closing in that's a little...less...intense.

In the irreverent spirit of fun that made “The LEGO® Movie” a worldwide phenomenon, the self-described leading man of that ensemble – LEGO Batman – stars in his own big-screen adventure: “The LEGO® Batman  Movie.”  But there are big changes brewing in Gotham, and if he wants to save the city from The Joker’s hostile takeover, Batman may have to drop the lone vigilante thing, try to work with others and maybe, just maybe, learn to lighten up.

Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice Reviewed

Growing up with Superman as our iconic movie hero was an awesome thing. He had charisma, confidence, was straight laced enough to be taken seriously but good humored enough to be funny without begging for laughs. When Superman Returns was released, it was clear the film makers were trying to recapture some of that magic, but those wacky nuances of 70's/80's film are a product of their time and reproducing them in modern times, when completely serious about their impact, is a recipe for disaster. The result was not terrible, but fans could agree it was...odd. As if in answer to that riddle came Man of Steel. If the zany adventures of everyone around the original Superman were a product of the era, then Man of Steel should introduce a Superman who is at once an awe inspiring powerhouse and raw, emotional being struggling with his own morals and just looking for acceptance. It took me more than a couple of viewings to come to an understanding with Man of Steel, and while I've developed an appreciation for the first half of the film and the frail humanity of the character, the Superman I'd come to appreciate through comics and cartoons lived in a sunnier world. The symbol of hope on his chest rang true in Clark Kent's eternally positive disposition, even as comical counterpoint to Lois Lane's sarcastic view of...well...everything. In the face of adversity, Superman would find a way to protect humanity and prevail...and be damn near polite about the whole ordeal. It's a happy world, albeit constantly under siege from alien invaders, mad scientists and your occasional powered up baddie feeling brave enough to step up to an insanely powerful force for good.

Dark Horse's Game of Thrones: The White Walker

IT'S TIME!! As a new season of Game of Thrones approaches, we unveil a project we've been working on for some months now. Taking the Game of Thrones line of figures produced by Dark Horse, we've gone out into the wild (inside the wild.. around it.. underneath it) to find the ideal backdrop for our favorite characters from George R. R. Martin's blood soaked pages. We begin this series with the enigmatic, monstrous White Walkers. Winter is coming.

They are spoken of in hushed tones...the stuff of dark fairy tales used to send a child directly to bed. It is said they once walked the earth in great numbers, coming down from the north where Winter is eternal. Riding atop undead horses and flanked by spiders as large as Dire Wolves, the White Walkers extinguished the lives of anyone unfortunate enough to lay in their path. It took the combined might of Westeros to drive the nightmare army back to their icy lands; a wall erected to prevent further incursions...and remind the populace of how close they came to complete annihilation.

Full Trailer for X-Men: Apocalypse Arrives

First and foremost, i'm going to give you the best advice about this new X-Men movie I possibly can. TURN YOUR BRAIN OFF. If you are a die hard comic fan, with special loves for the mutant menace that used to run rampant across the Marvel Comics universe before Disney decided Inhumans were a better sell ...YOU should especially dull your senses before viewing this movie. Perhaps eat something you are partially allergic to, causing your eyes to swell a bit but still allowing enough picture to come through so you can follow the action of these indistinguishable super powered folks who resemble your favorite heroes. This, my friends, is a FOX Marvel film. No names have been changed to protect the innocent. All we can be sure of is there will be similarities to award winning comic book stores from our youth...and a whole lot of black leather.

The Tank Girl Saga Continues in Two Girls, One Tank

I'd been a while since I've caught up with the girl who sports a ballistic bra like no other, but that doesn't mean I don't check in every so often. I've still got great love for the most foul mouthed hero of the wastelands..but hell man...comic books ain't cheap!

Fresh off the back of their latest calamitous chapter comes this shiny new Tank Girl tale from series creator, Alan Martin and artist extraordinaire, Brett Parson! Expect a healthy dose of delirium and plenty of ball-crunching action in this high-octane crosscountry skirmish that asks the question: is this world really big enough for two Tank Girls?! Strap yourself in, folks; It’s gonna be one helluva ride!
Issue #1 comes with four covers to collect!

Slayer's Blood Soaked Music Videos

It's funny how life works. I'm no spring chicken, which is to say..I've seen some stuff. The thing that surprised me more in my lifetime (thus far) has been how truly tiny Hollywood is from the inside...and smaller still in the world of horror...and then even smaller when you meet a handful of people you find mutual respect with, check out their friends and realize..all the good people flock together! Such is the case with Slayer, a band I feel like I've been listening to all my life. If a hand hitting a wall in frustration had a soundtrack, Slayer would be playing those chords.

Playstation VR For Playstation 4 Priced and Dated

We've seen VR headsets like the Oculus Rift ($599) and HTC Vive ($799) get their pricing and go on pre-order and both are starting to ship in just a couple of weeks. Today it was Sony's turn to unveil the final pricing and release date for their upcoming VR headset for use with the PlayStation 4. Coming this October, the headset is $399, which is either going to sound pretty pricey, or pretty cheap depending on how you felt about the Rift and Vive.

Tim Burton's Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children

Tim Burton takes a lot of lumps for his art..from me, and other critics, both professional and of the fan variety. Draining the wonder from Wonderland and replacing it with a sort of fantasy version of a post apocalyptic wasteland, while wildly imaginative, was not exactly what those seeking light Disney fare were looking for, and on the other end of the spectrum, stuck an odd chord with Burton die hards. Yes, the dark angle is expected, but it's a "spooky" dark Burton build his empire upon, draped with whimsical music, near slapstick comedy and an overall charm that would instantly win over the hearts of those who wish it to be Halloween, eternally. Dark Shadows seemed a perfect playground for Burton's gothic trappings, but the film was mired in it's own failed comedy and remains a topic...most fans care not to discuss. Now comes Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children which, again, seems like the right job for the right man with amazing hair, and you'll be happy to note, it's got the right trailer too!

Live Action Tick May Finally Return!

The reports began in 2014, believe it or not. There was interest in resurrecting the live action TV show based on the cult favorite comic book created by TV writing phenom and all around hysterical guy, Ben Edlund. It was on..then off then on then off...no one really knows how much of that was wishful thinking but now, Deadline is reporting IT'S ON AGAIN!!

It seems Amazon is set to reboot out big blue line action hero with Ben Edlund on board as writer and executive producer (yay!) We are told Patrick Warburton is sitting out this round (boo) as casting is underway for the starring role. To date, only Griffin Newman  has been cast as the Tick's sidekick, Arthur, and Valorie Curry as his sister, Dot Everest.

Spider-Man Revealed in Captain America: Civil War Trailer #2

It was only a matter of time before the look of Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War was revealed, seeing as how the movie is hitting May 6th, so it was a very smart move to push out a second trailer with even more pulse pounding action... Ant-Man joining the fight, shots of Black Panther and Scarlet Witch getting into it, and the most important bit...SPIDEY'S INTRODUCTION!!!

10 Cloverfield Lane: Be Prepared

There's been a discussion lately about what successful films and, to a larger extent, those film campaigns can teach other films. Case in point; Deadpool. The marketing for Deadpool said "we don't take ourselves seriously...at all." It also filled the world with inside jokes and subtle trolling of those who wouldn't get the inside jokes and above all else, it read as A GOOD TIME. Now, 10 Cloverfield Lane goes in a different direction, taking a page from classic horror films.

The understanding is, something in the shadows is creepier than something walking down a city street in the middle of the day. It's the unknown...that thing rustling under the bed..that object that shifts and makes the door slowly creek open to a closet that should be lifeless. Sure, the film makers of 10 Cloverfield Lane could "leak" the monster designs, making everyone that is hoping for monsters breathe a sigh of relief that they will, indeed, get the payoff they are looking for, but wheres the showmanship in that? For the first time in a long time, we get to go into a movie with the UNKNOWN waiting for us...and that's pretty damn exciting...

Batman Vs Superman 6 Figure Pack Confirms Known Villain Joining the Fight

SPOILER ALERT!! Go no further, lest ye be spoiled.

Some time back, Idle Hands showed off the first images of Batman vs Superman product hitting stores from Mattel. Among the items was a 3 figure pack featuring an Armored Batman, Superman and a Mech Suit wearing Lex Luthor. Now, it can always be argued that a flashy robot in a toy set could be "inspired by" the film, made after comic designs or just plain made up, but there was evidence to lead us to believe Lex Luthor would indeed suit up for a fight.

Worlds collide as the voice cast of the 1980s Turtles, Cam Clarke, Rob Paulsen, Barry Gordon and Townsend Coleman joins forces as Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, and Michelangelo, respectively, in “Trans-Dimensional Turtles,” a new episode of Nickelodeon’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles debuting Sunday, March 27, at 11:00 a.m. (ET/PT). In this new half-hour episode, the Turtles are transported to another dimension where they meet their ‘80s alternate-reality counterparts. Actor Pat Fraley also reunites with the ‘80s cast for the first time since the original series premiered to reprise his role as Krang.

The First Person Killfest Called Hardcore Henry

Hardcore Henry is one of the most unflinchingly original wild-rides to hit the big screen in a long time: You remember nothing. Mainly because you've just been brought back from the dead by your wife (Haley Bennett). She tells you that your name is Henry. Five minutes later, you are being shot at, your wife has been kidnapped, and you should probably go get her back. Who's got her? His name's Akan (Danila Kozlovsky); he's a powerful warlord with an army of mercenaries, and a plan for world domination. You're also in an unfamiliar city of Moscow, and everyone wants you dead. Everyone except for a mysterious British fellow called Jimmy (Sharlto Copley). He may be on your side, but you aren't sure. If you can survive the insanity, and solve the mystery, you might just discover your purpose and the truth behind your identity. Good luck, Henry. You're likely going to need it...

Ghostbusters 2016 Movie Trailer Spews Ectoplasm Everywhere

We've all just watched the trailer for the Ghostbusters 2016 remake and there's one thing we can now agree on completely...if you didn't like the comedy in Bridesmaids, you are probably going to find little to like here. The trailer includes familiar gags like the gross out moment that goes on for way too long, wacky slapstick action scenes and "this is so going in the trailer" moments we'll probably be sick of by the time they pop up on screen. Yes, I love the original movie to the point where I can repeat most lines as they happen. Yes, I have no love for the Bridesmaids movies. I guess I was holding out hope that something in this movie would win me over...and i'm still waiting...and willing to watch it...and probably give myself a headache trying to like it like I did with Deadpool. Let's give this another shot and see what we see, shall we?

McShane Report: Mr. Wednesday Cast in Starz American Gods

This is the beginning of a lifelong series of McShane reports, posted solely for the amusement and entertainment of Heather Buckley. You may go on with your day now.

Starz and FremantleMedia North America (FMNA) announced today that Ian McShane (“Deadwood,” “Ray Donovan”) has been cast as Mr. Wednesday in the upcoming adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s acclaimed contemporary fantasy novel, American Gods. The series will begin shooting in April.

Neil Gaiman said, “When you write a beloved character (beloved with, or despite, or because of all his faults) like Mr.Wednesday, you get to watch the internet trying to cast the role. I've seen a hundred names suggested, but few make me grin like Ian McShane does. I've already been lucky enough to have him in one film (he was bright blue in it, animated, and probably Polish). Now I count myself even luckier: he's made the journey from ‘Lovejoy’ to ‘American Gods.’  Yesterday was Super Tuesday. Today is Wonderful Wednesday.”

WWE Superstars In Surfs Up 2: Wavemania

No, my friends, you are not on The Onion...and none of this should be a surprise. Ever since the WWE invaded the worlds of Scooby Doo and The Flintstones, it was clear...no animated universe was safe. Still...I keep checking the date....and it's not April 1st.

Sony Pictures Animation and WWE Studios announced today an animated sequel to Surf's Up, the 2007 Academy Award nominated action-comedy about surfing penguins. The companies are co-financing and producing the movie which is expected to release in 2017, in time for the original films' 10th anniversary.  Surf's Up 2: WaveMania will be distributed by Sony Pictures Home Entertainment with WWE Studios providing marketing support by leveraging its extensive multi-platform reach.

Big Hero 6 Animated TV Series Coming in 2017

Back in August, Idle Hands dug up some pre-order images for a whole new wave of Big Hero 6 action figures, suggesting the heroes of San Fransokyo would be returning in the not-so-distant future! When we bugged Bandai for more information...we got tight lips...but with a wink. It's still not clear if the stealth repaint versions of the Big Hero 6 crew were made specifically for a new TV project...or if Bandai was just asked by foreign retailers to refresh the line in the simplest way possible...but we now know there is a new show on the horizon... albeit a horizon we won't get to until 2017...
