Catch Up With Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes

Since I know my readers, like me, have very short attention spans, full time jobs, and often, evil children that take up all their play time, I've compiled the first of the micro episodes for your viewing pleasure, all in one place. Be sure to post this link everywhere to thank me for my kindly deeds and to make up for the Birthday present you didn't get me, you bastard. I have to say so far, I'm extremely impressed!! Wrecking Crew and Absorbing man already on tap? I'm in. It's still a little kiddified for my taste, but until Marvel gets why Justice League Unlimited was so popular, I guess this is as good as its going to get. Here's hoping Hasbro learned something from the Wolverine and the X-Men figures that we didn't buy and give us a figure format we'll actually collect at a price that isn't obviously raping us.

In the two-part series premiere, "The Breakout," Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, Ant-Man and Wasp have defeated some of the most dangerous Super Villains on the planet. But when the Super Villain prison system mysteriously shuts down, chaos is unleashed on the world. Earth's Mightiest Heroes must now band together as the Avengers to protect the planet from the threats that no single Super Hero could face alone. Their first task is to try and stop Graviton, a being whose power dwarfs anything ever seen. He's after Nick Fury, but will destroy the world to get to him. Individually the heroes have no chance, but together they can make a difference.

Beginning with the "Iron Man" and "The Incredible Hulk" movies in 2008, the release of "The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes!" follows Marvel’s overall "Avengers Assemble" strategy, introducing the greatest heroes in the Marvel Universe through various content platforms. This includes the feature films "Iron Man 2" in May of 2010, "Thor" in May of 2011 and "Captain America: The First Avenger" in July of 2011, all building up to "Marvel Studios' The Avengers" theatrical film in 2012. Disney XD, the single largest distributor of Marvel content around the world, currently showcases approximately 20 hours of Marvel series (including "The Spectacular Spider-Man," "Fantastic Four" and "Iron Man") each week.

If you are so inclined, Marvel has also posted some character and villain profiles on their YouTube account. Enjoy!!

Marvel Minimate-Splosion

As we get ever closer to New York Comic Con, all the little wonderful plastic buddies we can buy there are coming to light. Diamond Select in particular has a couple of new Marvel Comics Minimates sets on tap with characters so obscure and so specific to a particular comic run, they could only be possible in the blocky Minimate format. First up is the Age of Apocalypse Minimates featuring Magneto, Rogue, Cyclops, and Sunfire, exclusive to Action Figure Xpress (booth 1977). AFX will also have a New Mutants set (my MUST HAVE of the show!) This set includes some of the original members Cannonball, Sunspot, Karma, and Wolfsbane. Cannonball has a flight blast accessory and Sunspot has extra hands and feet. Very cool set, but shouldn't Sunspot be black with yellow highlights, not the other way around? Odd choice. Previews also claims their own exclusive with Wolverine, Dark Beast, Apocalypse and Jean Grey, also available at NY Comic Con, most likely at Diamond's booth.

Diamond Select also realize that, since their Marvel Minimates haven't been in main stream stores for long, people may have missed the core characters in their most famous looks. On that note, they've got you covered!

"Coming soon to the Disney Store (A DST first!!!) is this special Minimates box set. Featuring Spider-Man, Captain America, Thor, and Iron Man it’s the perfect way to add classic versions of all your favorite Marvel heroes to your collection! Look for it at your favorite Toys R Us soon!" So is this a Disney exclusive or just the first time you'll find Marvel Minimates in Disney stores? We think the latter. Looking forward to having more places to buy Marvel merch!!

Their final announcement heralds the coming of Captain America in his own film and to celebrate, they held a contest on the Toys R Us website to pick 4 Captains from throughout history to be included in a boxed set. The winners are World War II, Suspended Animation, Armored, and Reborn versions of the star spangeled Avenger, exclusive to Toys R Us stores.

Rowdy Roddy Piper VS Fat Kids

He's one of the greatest wrestlers of all time. He's fought Hulk Hogan to a stand still. He's gone toe to toe with Andre the Giant and lived to tell the tale. He's mocked the Ultimate Warrior in public and gotten away with it, uncovered alien plots, blown Frog Town all to holy hell and most recently, kicked Cancer's ass. DEATH WILL NOT HAVE THE BADDEST MOTHER FUCKER IN A KILT THIS PLANET HAS EVER SEEN!! Now, the rowdy one has a new fight. Fat kids. They are everywhere and we are just making more of them. One day, they will eat us into global starvation...unless someone does something about it. Enter the Piper. No fast food slinging miscreant will be able to walk the streets safely again.

My Psycho Sweet Halloween 2010: Part 3: Cape Test

Elieen Cleary dropped in with the cape/cloak for a test run with the cowl. The concern was that the spot where it joins wouldn't cover the bottom of the cowl. On conventional Bat Suits, the cowl goes over the cape so it looks like the comic style that is all one piece. My design has the cowl on my shoulders, the bottom covered by the cape for a more medieval appearance. I was a little concerned when I first got the enormous cape on my shoulders. The gathering Eileen did at first give the appearance that I've got Bat-tumors on my shoulders or some kind of puffy shoulder look one would sport on the high fashion runway. When I pushed the cape back, the material around the shoulders laid down exactly the way it was meant to. GENIUS!! It also hangs very well in the back..less like a cape and more like folded in bat wings. An unexpected surprise! Unfortunately, the gloves just aren't working out, so I'm on the hunt for Begins style gloves I can alter the fingers on to make them come to points. I'm determined not to do REAL work tomorrow (my birthday!), so it seems like the perfect time to do a makeup test with the fangs and eyes in. I'll post pics when I have em'!

Oh Yes..There Will Be Robot Dancing

Only in India could a guy that looks like a brown Wayne Newton be a super star! If Inspector Gadget had a cousin in India, it would look something like this...

Location – Chennai 2010
Mission – creating a andro-humanoid robot - Chitti
Purpose – to help the society
Development time – 10 years
Configurations – speed one terra hz, memory one zeta byte, processor Pentium ultra core millennia V2, FHP 450 motor from Hirata, Japan.
Special Features – A human who is not born but is created. He can dance, sing, fight, is water and fire resistant. He can do all that a human can and more. He feeds on electricity. He takes instructions literally. Where a human can lie to save himself this andro-humanoid robot Chitti cannot lie.
Trouble shooting – Where he has a razor sharp memory and can memorize an entire telephone directory by just running through the pages, he cannot understand human emotions. Dr. Vasi upgrades Chitti’s processor and simulates human emotions without realizing the repercussions. Chitti gets transformed. He can now feel, and the first feeling that he discovers is Love.
Will this love come in the way of Dr. Vasi’s purpose of creating Chitti?
Will Dr. Vasi’s own creation destroy him?

With animation technology from Stan Winston's Studios and an effects budget said to rival normal movies on its own..it looks like I need to explore Tamil Cinema a bit more! If I could get past the signing and dancing, it might help. Check out http://www.robotthefilm.com/ for more info, pics and DANCING!!!

Fantastic Fest Reveals New Black Eyed Peas Lineup

At some shows, they sing the Vegas refrain...what happens in (insert con name here) stays in (con name here). At Fantastic Fest, its alllll out in the open for good..for bad...for drunk. Men doing a drunken strip tease to the Black Eyed Peas is normally not news worthy. When those men include The RZA, Elijah Wood, Tim League, Nacho Vigalondo and friends, it elevates the event to near mythic status. Maybe even legendary...were it not for awesome people in the crowd with above average camera vid phones to document the whole messy lot. Drink it in, folks.

NEW Metalocalypse This Sunday

What an awesome weekend for TV!! Supernatural tonight, Elvira in the AM, New Venture Brothers season continues on Sunday and on the same night, a new season of Metalocalypse will begin! Follow the adventures (or lack thereof) of the greatest, most powerful Death Metal band ever to walk the Earth. When their records are delayed, global markets fall. Hordes of fans travel to the ends of the planet just to be the first to hear a coffee jingle they created. Their name is Dethklok, and if you show up to one of their concerts, you'll be dying to see them (literally.) They've got enough money to buy Germany and turn it into a giant Dorito dispensing fun park that only they can get into, and they might do just that. Of course, with super wealth comes super stupidity, a helpless nature and a distaste for their own fans. It's mean spirited, dirty, gory as all hell and of course, hysterical, all wrapped around mind blowing music that's as METAL as it gets. Gather the family around the TV and watch today!

Dethklok is back and ready to deal with groupies, fame and yes, politics in all-new episodes of Metalocalypse. The hit Adult Swim series chronicles Dethklok’s crusades into darkness and follows the exploits of the world’s most popular metal band and most significant cultural force. Created by Brendon Small and Tommy Blacha, season 3.5 of Metalocalypse premieres on Adult Swim Sunday, September 26th at 12:30 a.m. (ET, PT) with a replay at 4:30 a.m. (ET, PT). Rated TV-MA.

On this week’s episode of Metalocaplyse….

Toki swears off rock and roll sluts to find a REAL relationship. Meanwhile, Murderface bets everything that he can sleep with more women than Skwisgaar, consequently landing himself in a sexual harassment seminar. Can Toki beat his new lady mate's biological clock?

ELVIRA RETURNS THIS WEEKEND!!

And she's still soo soo soo hot. The mistress of the dark returns to your idiot box this weekend doing what she does best...ie; hosting horrible movies that make your skin crawl ..and not because they are scary. Why watch then? Because the cuts to commercial contain little gems from Elvira herself! It's about time we get some horror hosts onto main stream TV!! It's Elvira's Movie Macabre and YOU CAN'T LOOK AWAY!!! Seriously, you can't. Her boobs are amazing. After the video interlude, check out the list of locations, channels, date and times!

The Walking Dead Shamble to New York Comic Con

October is almost here and with October comes Big Apple Con, NY Comic Con, Halloween and the premiere of THE WALKING DEAD!! TWD is the BEST zombie ANYTHING ever made with a story line designed to keep you reading like your life depended on it. I personally burned through the last collected hardcover in 2 hours and then screamed to the heavens at the knowledge I'd have to wait several months for the next one. Now AMC is bringing this epic tale of being human in a world slowly dying and at NY Comic Con, you'll be able to get a peek!

During New York Comic Con, AMC will premiere the first full scenes from the network’s highly anticipated series, “The Walking Dead.” In addition to the exclusive preview, the stars and producers of the drama, based on the comic book written by Robert Kirkman, will be present for a panel scheduled for Sunday, October 10 at 2:15pm in the IGN Theater. The event will include series stars Andrew Lincoln (Love Actually), Jon Bernthal (“The Pacific”), Sarah Wayne Callies (“Prison Break”), Laurie Holden (The Mist), and Steven Yeun (“The Big Bang Theory”). Joining the cast are writer, director, executive producer and three-time Academy Award nominee Frank Darabont (The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile) and executive producers, Robert Kirkman and Gale Anne Hurd (The Terminator, Aliens, Armageddon). “The Walking Dead” will premiere on Halloween at 10pm EST on AMC.

During the 90-minute event, moderator Eric Moro of IGN.com will lead panelists in a discussion about their experience shooting the “The Walking Dead,” and the process of bringing Kirkman’s comic book to life on the small screen, among other topics. The panel will be followed by a Q&A session with attendees.

About “The Walking Dead”
“The Walking Dead” tells the story of the weeks and months that follow after a zombie apocalypse. County Sheriff Rick Grimes (Lincoln) travels with his family and a small group of survivors, constantly in search of a safe and secure home. But the constant pressure of fighting off death on a daily basis takes a heavy toll, sending many to the lowest depths of human cruelty. As Rick struggles to keep his family alive, he will discover that the overwhelming fear of the survivors can be far more dangerous than the mindless walkers roaming the earth.

Tamil Webster Rocks Out with Transformers

OK so she's the roundish girl version of Webster, and now knowing its a little girl, I'm even more horrified at some of the dance moves this small wonder pulls off. The movie is called Kutti Pisasu and without going into extensive details, we are assured it is super stuffed with every element of pop culture inspired kid friendly cinema that would send children screaming to mom and dad that they must see it as a matter of life and death. That said, here's an obviously super caffeinated child star, Baby Keerthika, gyrating with a robot. Creepy.

I hope this doesn't give Michael Bay any ideas.

Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes Starts NOW

New Marvel Cartoon!! It makes me all teary eyed. I've got high hopes for this one and so far, the animation doesn't bother me toooo much (though it is overly kidified and simple) and the characters are obviously mirroring the movies. Let's see where this goes...

Beginning Wednesday, September 22, Disney XD, DisneyXD.com/Avengers, Marvel.com, MarvelKids.com and Disney XD Mobile will roll out 20 micro-episodes introducing the team's core members. Each five-and-half-minute episode focuses on the back story, allies and nemeses of the heroes before the Avengers were formed.

Disney XD, the single largest distributor of Marvel content around the world, currently showcases approximately 20 hours of Marvel series (including "The Spectacular Spider-Man," "Fantastic Four" and "Iron Man") each week.

Harry Potter gets Even Deathlier with New Trailer

It's been some time since we updated you on the beginning of the end of the Harry Potter legend with the coming of The Deathly Hallows Part 1, but now we've got a new trailer to drool over and some amusing pics (cue potter clones) to point and laugh at, so Thundercats...HOOOOOOO!!

Part 1 begins as Harry, Ron and Hermione set out on their perilous mission to track down and destroy the secret to Voldemort's immortality and destruction—the Horcruxes. On their own, without the guidance of their professors or the protection of Professor Dumbledore, the three friends must now rely on one another more than ever. But there are Dark Forces in their midst that threaten to tear them apart.

Meanwhile, the wizarding world has become a dangerous place for all enemies of the Dark Lord. The long-feared war has begun and Voldemort's Death Eaters seize control of the Ministry of Magic and even Hogwarts, terrorizing and arresting anyone who might oppose them. But the one prize they still seek is the one most valuable to Voldemort: Harry Potter. The Chosen One has become the hunted one as the Death Eaters search for Harry with orders to bring him to Voldemort... alive.

Harry's only hope is to find the Horcruxes before Voldemort finds him. But as he searches for clues, he uncovers an old and almost forgotten tale—the legend of the Deathly Hallows. And if the legend turns out to be true, it could give Voldemort the ultimate power he seeks.

Little does Harry know that his future has already been decided by his past when, on that fateful day, he became "the Boy Who Lived." No longer just a boy, Harry Potter is drawing ever closer to the task for which he has been preparing since the day he first stepped into Hogwarts: the ultimate battle with Voldemort.

Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows: Part 1 opens nationwide November 19th, 2010.

My Psycho Sweet Halloween 2010: Part 2: The Pieces

In our last episode, I showed off the concepts for this year's Halloween costumes; Red Rain Batman and Casey Jones. I've redesigned the Red Rain costume because I'm not crazy about the slightly modified Bat blue and grey suit and you won't catch me dead in spandex. Casey Jones is a no brainer and I'm not shooting for super accuracy, so he stays pretty close to the source material. Here's where we are at...

Red Rain Batman: The Reeves Arkham Asylum Video Game inspired cowl has arrived and is sweeeeet. After a trial and error in getting the damned thing on, I was very happy with the effect, though I'm not sure if the little space inside will be an issue. Looks pretty good tho! Watch for pics with the contacts and teeth in for a future installment. The tall ears on this cowl really make it work. Eileen Cleary has just finished the first pass on the cape/cloak and will tackle the gathering around the shoulders next. We discussed how it might cover the bottom of the cowl and toyed with the idea of adding buckles, giving it a more gothic/medieval feel, but we are going to do a test run before we alter the design. Also in the house are the belt, boots and a chest piece for under armor, courtesy of a killer deal from Pastadude of The League of Heroes forum. I may swap out the small pouches for the larger, blocky vintage ammo pouches I used for Deadpool last year. I also scored a MASSIF Military shirt for a sort of practical battle gear shirt. Fits very nice over the armor. Now what do I use to paint on the bloody bat symbol that won't stain it forever, after I've died the whole shirt grey?

Casey Jones: Mask coming from Thailand..Golf Bag coming from Florida..sports wrappings and gloves from KMart and i've started the hysterical task of making all his weapons out of cardboard along with April O'Neil's camera for lori. Why? Because it is fucking funny.

Prepare for Avengers VS Pet Avengers!!

With a title like that there had better be some pet on pet all out carnage, I tell you whut. That said, there's nothing I don't like about this idea, other than me buying it. You'd think any chance to see Thor as a frog again would be pounced on, but..no. Sure, its a fun idea but it does nothing for me, as Pet Avengers on their own does nothing for me. Now prove to me that the writing is so far beyond the concept and I'll jump in face first. I guess that remains to be seen!

Marvel is pleased to present your first look at Avengers vs. Pet Avengers #1 (of 4), from the creative team of fan favorite writer Chris Eliopoulos and artist Ig Guara! Earth’s Mightiest Heroes are downsizing. Literally. With Thor, Iron Man and Captain America mysteriously transformed into amphibians, can they possibly defeat a legion of dragons led by none other than Fing Fang Foom? Not without the help of Earth’s Mightiest Pets, Lockjaw and the Pet Avengers! Worlds collide this October in Avengers vs. Pet Avengers #1 (of 4)!
