New Big Hero 6 TV Show Means New Bandai Toys!

Bandai Big Hero 6 Mini-Max Feature Figure

We are just under 1 month away from the return of Baymax and Big Hero 6 to their new home on the Disney Channel! The premiere movie kicking off the series was everything I could have wanted, with all the characters back in place, as they should be, and it all felt seamless. I've got high hopes for the actual series, so June can't get here fast enough!

With anticipation of the new series come the usual geek questions...what's the plot...who are the villains...WHAT CAN WE EXPECT!! Luckily, Bandai's new toy line may reveal little bits of info. Let's check them out...

Toy Fair 2018: Bandai Back Into Big Hero 6

Toy Fair 2018 Bandai Big Hero Six Animated Series Toy Line
BAYMAX RETURNS!! I don't know about you, but I was crazy excited to watch the return of Baymax and Big Hero 6 on Disney XD last year in an animated TV movie heralding the coming of the cartoon series this month. The art was excellent, the characters were on point and everything was just as it should be. I'm in for the next 25 episodes! Word is Disney has already ordered a Season 2 (with another 25 episodes), so we aren't going to be rid our fluffy robot friend anytime soon. Of course, with a new cartoon, we must have NEW TOYS!! We still don't know what the deal was with those Stealth BH6 figures last year, but we are excited to show you an entirely new line, given the attention the series deserves. Let's dig in...

Big Hero 6 Animated TV Series Coming in 2017

Back in August, Idle Hands dug up some pre-order images for a whole new wave of Big Hero 6 action figures, suggesting the heroes of San Fransokyo would be returning in the not-so-distant future! When we bugged Bandai for more information...we got tight lips...but with a wink. It's still not clear if the stealth repaint versions of the Big Hero 6 crew were made specifically for a new TV project...or if Bandai was just asked by foreign retailers to refresh the line in the simplest way possible...but we now know there is a new show on the horizon... albeit a horizon we won't get to until 2017...

A New Mission for Disney's Big Hero 6?

Sometimes, a company just can't calculate how popular a TV show or movie is going to be, so their toy line based on the property will be small-ish...conservative......tiny.. and ultimately sad if that property turns out to generate some love. Big Hero 6 could be counted among these properties, as Bandai covered all the primary characters in a very simple, kid friendly 4 inch figure line quite adequately, but collectors were left hoping our Asian brothers would embrace the film and deliver SUPER MEGA ULTRA POSABLE BAYMAX!!! Instead, our best Baymax has pop up wings and makes wooshing noises..and that's OK too...but we can do better I think. Now..there's hope.

Big Hero 6's Baymax Celebrated for National Hugging Day

After much deliberation and even more hugging, Baymax, the lovable personal companion robot and star of Walt Disney Animation Studio’s action-packed comedy adventure and Academy Award® Nominated film “Big Hero 6,” was today named Most Huggable Character of 2015 on National Hugging Day™!

The coveted award was presented by the Ambassador of Hugs (HA!), Kevin Zaborney, founder and creator of National Hugging Day.™ Baymax humbly accepted the award from his residence in San Fransokyo where he attributed the honor to his “non-threatening, huggable design” and said he looks forward to spending the upcoming year giving and receiving hugs from all.

Big Hero 6 Toys Hitting Retail

The Disney/ Marvel animated film is still a month off, but the action figures, deluxe toys, plush and more are hitting shelves from Walgreens to the Disney Store mother ship. In their usual odd fashion, Disney has given the main toy license to Bandai, but still has their own branded Disney Store figure line that often resembles the Bandai toys...but sometimes looks better...and sometimes looks worse. It's a mystery. Don't think too hard on it. It may cause leakage. Here's a run down of toys you can find out there now...and some that might be releasing closer to the release date as not to reveal toooo much from the movie.

Big Hero 6 Character Posters & Further Details Revealed

We've not heard much from the folks at Disney regarding their first Marvel Comics animated adaptation. First and foremost, I think we'd all like to see how they plan to tie this cartoony world to the massive blockbuster live-action films they've been making bank on since day one. To NOT do that is just an insane notion I can't even comprehend, but they keep saying the film is "inspired by" the comic, which is causing my hopes for any Marvel tie-ins to shrink. Today, sadly, we do not have news on that front, BUT we CAN show you the SIX from the title, courtesy of some character posters that flopped online last night courtesy of JPosters.

You've already met Hiro Hamada and his buddy Baymax. Rounding out the team are Fred Zilla, Honey Lemon, Wasabi No Ginger and super-speedster Gogo Tomago.

The Big Hero 6 Teaser Trailer is LIVE

Oh man. From the day we heard Disney was folding Marvel Comics into their loving tentacles, we wished for one thing over all. DISNEY ANIMATED MARVEL MOVIES!!! Amazing ones...ones that made us remember the killer animation of Transformers the movie. Mind blowing ones that show the sense of humor, heart and superb artistry of Toy Story. Today, we take one step closer to that reality with the first trailer for BIG HERO 6! Sure...it ain't Power Pack...but it's a start!

With all the heart and humor audiences expect from Walt Disney Animation Studios, “Big Hero 6” is an action-packed comedy-adventure about robotics prodigy Hiro Hamada, who learns to harness his genius—thanks to his brilliant brother Tadashi and their like-minded friends: adrenaline junkie Go Go Tamago, neatnik Wasabi, chemistry whiz Honey Lemon and fanboy Fred. When a devastating turn of events catapults them into the midst of a dangerous plot unfolding in the streets of San Fransokyo, Hiro turns to his closest companion—a robot named Baymax—and transforms the group into a band of high-tech heroes determined to solve the mystery.

Be that as it may, Disney still thought it best to start the slow roll out of images for a project we know very little about, save for the tiny outline below. Will other known Marvel Comics characters make appearances? What about cameos or mentions of Marvel Studios super stars??  WILL THIS BE A COHESIVE PART OF THE MARVEL CINEMATIC UNIVERSE????!!!! Big Hero 6 Coming to Life

When Disney announced to the world they would be gobbling up Marvel Entertainment and bringing their entire universe of legendary characters into the fold..and by default, immediately exploring all possibilities with this vast roster, there was only one thought in my head.
