Playmates Voltron 84 Classic Lions

The name Playmates makes toy fans instantly think of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, but in the past couple of years, they've been killing it in a universe a bit further away than the New York sewers.  The coming of a Voltron reboot via Netflix created an instant opportunity in creating toys for everything we see in this new animated universe, but what of the old school fans who hate change and want people off their lawns? PLAYMATES HAS YOUR OLD, FRAGILE BACK!! Now on store shelves, you'll find an 84 Classic Voltron lion line, allowing nostalgic collectors to create their favorite, massive lion-bot at a very reasonable price point!

When Zarkon's forces threaten peace, it is up to the Lions of Voltron to defend the universe from their evil! The Voltron Legendary Lion assortment features the red, yellow, blue, and green lions, each with unique weapons and features to help battle Zarkon's Robeasts!

These new lions may not be the diecast toys from our youth, but for $20 a pop, they are fairly articulated with a chunky feel and a nice little selection of accessories, including a blade that pegs into the upper jaw (which is on a spring so it snaps shut), a projectile launcher and a third weapon. Both the projectile launcher and the mock laser weapon peg into any of the holes on the lion's legs.

As you might expect, the lions also transform into parts of Voltron, which we have yet to assemble, but judging from the size of these individual pieces, he should be significantly massive!!

 While these lions aren't suuuuuper articulated, we still wanted to get in some action shots, but not having access to a Robeast, we..umm..improvised.     Enjoy!!
