NECA's Toony Terrors vs Scooby-Doo: Will Shaggy Float?

Back into it with NECA's Toony Terrors; a particularly fantastic line of action figures meant to look like our favorite horror fiends have been transported into a more innocent cartoon world. At first sight, it was clear only one group of monster fighters could stand against total toonmageddon.. the Scooby-Doo Gang! Character Toys have re-released their last Scooby gang in 6 dollar 2 packs, perfect for those of us who wanted all those monsters, or just missed the figures entirely. Couple that with a 12 dollar Toony Terrors figure and you've got the makings of many an epic photo shoot...WHICH IS HOW WE GOT HERE!! Can you tell I love horror and was raised on Scooby? I think you can. For this round, Shaggy stumbles upon an old house and a peculiar resident with really weird eyes....

It's amazing to me how perfect the modern Pennywise looks as a cartoon, complete with that oddly creased head and winning smile that is so subtle, it's a work of art. Is he happy? Is he planning to eat me? You'll find out soon enough. Articulation includes ankle swivels, hip swivels, shoulder swivels, wrist swivels and a ball jointed head. Though the movement of the head is hampered by the frilly neck piece and his hair, you can still get a head turn and a little tilt.

Washed out colors in a matte finish not only accentuate that cartoony feel, but in this case, lend further to the translation of Pennywise's antique and discolored clown costume without adding so much detail as to destroy that 2D, hand drawn look. Trust that there are LOADS of details there anyway, from the lines running through the length of the costume to the top of his cracked-paint looking cranium. With his eyes positioned in an upward glance, it's up to you to decide if he's looking on innocently or planning something monstrous!

Modern Pennywise comes with 2 accessories; a little boat (because we'll all float eventually), and a red balloon on a bendy wire which gives it the appearance it is floating. Like the old school Pennywise, the hole in his hand is a little too small for that wire, so i'll have to enlarge it to make that work.
