More Tron: Legacy Viral Arrives...In The Mail!

It's KRAZ-BOT! The sensation that's sweeping the nation and taking over arcades all across the planet!! Cuz..you know...there are still arcades all over the place in the TRON movie universe and where there's arcades...there's KRAZ-BOT!!

Combining android technology, human dexterity and fast-paced adventure, Kraz-Bot shocked the video gaming world upon its release in 1983. Thanks to the visionaries at Encom, this title is programmed to thrill!!

What does it mean? I dunno. Where did it come from? San Diego, which tells me something we probably all assumed. There's going to be TRON viral craziness at San Diego Comic Con this year. WOOO!! The only other thing I noticed on my postcard were little pixels in the black strip. I might be reading too much into it..but...maybe...not. The viral wackiness continues. I luvs it.

Encom Teases Space Paranoids Online?!

The viral taunting continues as the Tron: Legacy team takes things back to the Flynn Lives website with a new game trailer for.....SPACE PARANOIDS ONLINE!! On one hand, this is surely just another piece of viral genius. On the other, Disney is known for making video games for all their movies, so why would this one be any different? For now, drink in the pure geekiness of it all and cross your fingers someone will make this real.

Thanks to Cinemablend for hosting the vid. I'm too damn tired to do it myself. Yay, team lazy ass.

Tron: Legacy Shenanigans Continue LIVE at Wondercon 2010

The crowd assembled outside was dense but not so much as to stave off the last remnants of Winter which turned the nervous geek dance of anticipation to the "ohhhh so cooooold" dance of displeasure. Soon enough, Bruce Boxleitner took the stage as his character Alan Bradley, kicking off the Encom press and fan event that announced Space Paranoids Online!! The (literally) immersive experience included mentions of the lost Flynn, causing outbursts of "FLYNN LIVES!" from the audience, a rush of the stage by "protesters?" waving their Flynn Lives t shirts and signs declaring the same...to what end i have no idea...and a circling helicopter that, after the winds died down, dumped a sole jumper into the night sky who was later revealed to be......

Sam Flynn!!! Dun dun duuuun. Sources close to Flynn said the boy does this every year to commemorate the disappearance of his father. Hey..some guys drink. Who's to point a finger? Head over to FlynnLives.com for more pics of the night's insanity and stay tuned for more Tron wackiness...since we are still months away from the movie's release! December isn't too far awaaaaayeeeaaaaaayyyyy. Yes it is.

NOTE:: For those collecting all the TRON: Legacy viral swag, you can now add a Space Paranoids pin to your hunting list!

TRON Legacy Animated German Poster

Our buddy Frosty at Collider got the tip on this killer new poster for TRON: Legacy, straight out of Germany. So..It's official. Everyone on the planet has cooler posters for American movies than we do. WHEN DID THAT START HAPPENING?!

Sam Flynn (Garrett Hedlund), the tech savy 27 year old son of Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges), looks into his father's disappearance and finds himself pulled into the digital world of TRON where his father has been living for 25 years. Along with Kevin's loyal confidant Quorra (Olivia Wilde), father and son embark on a life and death journey of escape across a visually stunning cyber universe that has become far more advanced and exceedingly dangerous....not to mention looks MINDBLOWING in IMAX 3D!

TRON Legacy comes to theaters this December. That's a looong wait my geeky friends.

Fans Converge on NY for Tron Legacy Trailer

Those following my Twitter lunacy knew something was up. I'd alerted people to appear at certain times and places to look for people in "Flynn Lives" T shirts and say code words like "Coin Return" or "Game Over"...for what I had no idea. It just sounded like a good time if you were already in the area! The page hosting the info on this abrupt scavenger hunt features a large area that was being filled up with thumbnail sized pics from the original Tron film. Flipping these over with a click revealed a picture of a man in a Tron-like suit walking into a corridor of bright light. Below the image was an icon to click on which brought you to a page alerting you to a special event held in NY, LA, Toronto, London and Sydney below a large bit of text welcoming you to the "Pit Cell".

One day later, I'm in a theater full of twitchy geeklings at 10am with my friend Ted Geoghegan who seems equally excited. We've already got a "Flynn Lives" T shirt just for walking in the door, so anything more is just cake (especially for Ted who only walked 4 blocks or so to the screening.) We did our best to assure those around us we'd probably only see the trailer and MAYBE a few minutes of footage like the Dark Knight event held some years back. Spontaneously, random people in the audience began shouting where they had traveled from. Philadelphia...Boston...Toronto! Some girl laughed and said "There IS a screening in Toronto!!" Sadly, there was no answer to this challenge and we settled into our seats as the theater darkened and we slid on our large goofy IMAX 3D glasses (which are about 2 times the size of the Elvis Costello jobbies you get when you go to a normal 3D movie. I told Ted he looked like Captain Eo.)

Our theater crowd was so keyed up for gonzo eye candy that the green ratings card shown in 3D drew OOO's and AHHHH's from all around us. Then came the main attraction. A young boy is urged by a well dressed man to pursue his father's dreams. All roads lead back to Flynn's Arcade, which is exactly as he left it, including the hidden entrance to a secret room where Flynn's REAL toys are waiting for curious hands. A flash of light and we are in. MIND BLOWINGLY COOL!! Imagine all your dreams for what could be done with a movie as basic as Tron with effects that looked as if they were programmed on a Commodore 64. The light cycles..the monstrous red flying ships...now make it all 3D. The tone seems very tense as we flip past an array of quirky characters in glowing suits...one behaving like a mock rock star, one sexing up the screen like Miss November in a super hot Tron inspired calender and one stoic form gripping an Identity Disk with hate filled eyes.

This is going to be a MUST SEE on an IMAX 3D screen if you are able. The effects coupled with this technology is just too cool for words. I actually had chills the entire time, while Ted moaned, surely caught in the throws of continuous geekgasms as we watched. If you were already a fan of Tron, you are about to be blown out of your seat. If you just like going to the movies to be wowed by the pretty lights, you should leave this one grinning from ear to ear. You'll be able to share in our excitement soon enough!

FLYNN LIVES!! ..And YOU Can Find Him

Disney is starting their interactive campaign for Tron Legacy with a live scavenger hunt across the globe. "Operatives" are challenged to be at a designated location at a set time, speak a code word and receive some limited edition goodies from the film, no doubt. I remember when this was done for The Dark Knight and am still envious of whom ever got that awesome Joker bowling ball. MADNESS!! CLICK HERE and join the hunt!!!
