More Deep Space Terror from Europa Report

Seems like "trouble in deep space" is the new favored theme coming out of Hollywood for the next few months! We'll help you weed through these offerings, starting with this traditional sounding thriller, which includes one of our favorites (Sharlto Copley) in the cast.

A unique blend of documentary-style film-making, alternative history and science fiction thriller, EUROPA REPORT follows a contemporary mission to Jupiter's moon Europa to investigate the possible existence of alien life within our solar system. When unmanned probes suggest that a hidden ocean could exist underneath Europa's icy surface and may contain single-celled life, Europa Ventures, a privately funded space exploration company, sends six of the best astronauts from around the world to confirm the data and explore the revolutionary discoveries that may lie in the Europan ocean. After a near-catastrophic technical failure that leads to loss of communication with Earth and the tragic death of a crew member, the surviving astronauts must overcome the psychological and physical toll of deep space travel, and survive a discovery on Europa more profound than they had ever imagined.

Oscar-winning Production Designer Eugenio Caballero (Pan's Labyrinth) helped design the ship and acclaimed Director of Photography Enrique Chediak (127 Hours) helped design the innovative 8-camera system that films simultaneously from fixed positions throughout the ship.  Original music is by Bear McCreary ("Defiance," "The Walking Dead").

EUROPA REPORT directed by multi-award winning Ecuadorian director Sebastián Cordero (Pescador, Rage, Chronicles), written by Philip Gelatt (The Bleeding House) and starring Michael Nyqvist (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Mission Impossible - Ghost Protocol, Abduction), Sharlto Copley (District 9, The A-Team), Embeth Davidtz (The Amazing Spider-Man, "Mad Men," The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo), Daniel Wu (The Man with the Iron Fists, Protégé), Christian Camargo ("Dexter," The Hurt Locker), Karolina Wydra ("True Blood," Crazy Stupid Love), Anamaria Marinca (Palme d'Or winner 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days).
