Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom Trailer Drops

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom Teaser Poster

Director James Wan and Aquaman himself, Jason Momoa—along with Patrick Wilson, Amber Heard, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Nicole Kidman—return in the sequel to the highest-grossing DC film of all time: “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.”

Having failed to defeat Aquaman the first time, Black Manta, still driven by the need to avenge his father’s death, will stop at nothing to take Aquaman down once and for all. This time Black Manta is more formidable than ever before, wielding the power of the mythic Black Trident, which unleashes an ancient and malevolent force. To defeat him, Aquaman will turn to his imprisoned brother Orm, the former King of Atlantis, to forge an unlikely alliance. Together, they must set aside their differences in order to protect their kingdom and save Aquaman’s family, and the world, from irreversible destruction.

A Preview of the Justice League: Throne of Atlantis Animated Movie

When a new Warner Bros. DC Comics Animated Feature arrives, it means two things in my home. 1. I'm in for an awesome DC Comics movie with all the anger, blood and violence we'll probably never see in the live action films. 2. It's time for a preview of THE NEXT WARNER BROS. DC COMICS ANIMATED MOVIE!!! Based on comic book story arc written by Geoff Johns, with some liberties and story tweaks (naturally), Throne of Atlantis picks up where Justice League: War ended, as we see the origin story of Aquaman and his introduction to a newly formed Justice League.

Batman: Brave and the Bold Season 1 Part 1 DVD Review

As a fan of DC Comics animation, it is hard to get into a new Batman show without risking a new round of hysterical tears for the loss of our beloved Justice League Unlimited....cut down..before it's prime. why... Luckily, Warner Brothers animation does things right more often then wrong, and such is the case with Batman: Brave and the Bold! The concept is fairly simple. Make Batman a liiiiiittle less intense for the wee childrens without taking away any of his badassery and at the same time, couple him with another DC comics hero in every episode. Some episodes even manage to slide in a covert "moral to the story" without beating it over the heads of those of us who just want to sit down and watch the bright, shiny colors. In short, SUCCESS! This show should be a shining example of what can happen when a cartoon show doesn't question the intelligence of the viewer, delivering quality stories, excellent animation and fast paced action along with the characters of the DC Universe we are dying to see on the screen. They've even gone one step more and made it funny! Not retarded kiddie humor funny with farting noises and characters looking at each other with dull expressions while the script reads UHHHHHHH.....WOOOOOOO...CAAACAWWWWW...for 5 minutes straight. Real, honest to God humor, witty banter and one liners that make sense in the scene. Amazing...and miles better than The Batman show with all of its re-imaginings of DC characters to make them ...i don't know..more extreeeeme??!! Who needs it? We don't, and neither do the kids. This show rocks because they stick to the source material and have fun with it.

Brave and the Bold delivers non stop hero action with a soundtrack seemingly torn from "The Tick" or a better example.."Johnny Quest." Jazzy beats drive our heroes to take down the villains and keep the viewer engaged while dancing in our seats like filthy beatniks. This set covers 13 episodes in a 2 disk Season 1 Part 1 collection. Heroes on board include Red Tornado, The Atom, Aquaman, Green Arrow, Speedy, Deadman, Bwana Beast, Jonah Hex, Plastic Man, Elongated Man, Blue Beetle, Wildcat, Bronze Tiger, Fire and the WHOLE DAMN GREEN LANTERN CORPS fighting the likes of Gentleman Ghost, Gorilla Grodd, The Joker, Owlman, Black Manta and many many more. While this is a whole lot of awesome for a 2 disk set, it should be noted it comes with ZERO special features, which are no doubt being saved for the complete Season 1 set, so be aware. This is probably excellent for a kid's party gift but not so hot for the Bat fan who wants to see it all.

Episode Highlights include...

The Atom trying to explain science to Aquaman while inside Batman's body.
G'nort. Seriously. They animated fucking G'NORT!! ..and he has speaking parts.
Batman tears a hole in time and space and multiple universe Batmen come pouring out, including Vampire Batman!!!
Guy Gardener gets punched in the chops. Freeze frame...replay...and again...
A Static Shock reference. You won't see it coming.
Red Tornado tries to sing. Believe it.

Batman: Brave and the Bold Season 1 Part 1 is on sale NOWWWW at your favorite proprietors of shiny disks. Enjoy!!

P.S....Cartoon Network...Make this happen. It's Time. But don't just rob John K's style. Bring him on board. Please and Thank you.

Toy Victory: The 11-9 Week Haul

It was a damn good week in toyville as I finally zero'd in on some Marvel Legends (WOOO!) instead of the usual unending pegs of Marvel Universe shorties, got the LAST piece I needed to form Atom Smashertron and added some killer pieces to my (proposed) Endor set up. Prepare for geekgasm.

Believe it or not, my Atom Smasher from the DC Universe Classics line has been missing his mighty torso, leaving me with a bag of limbs for far too long. As you can see, he's a bit underwhelming as far as Build a Figures go, especially compared to the legendary Giant Man. Hellooo little boy. You can be a super hero one day too. Now, which figure was holding me up from Voltronning this bad boy together? Drum roll please...

Yes..it's Ice Capades Aquaman. Dude... seriously. Like I don't have to defend your powers enough. Now you leave the house in this outfit. You're dead to me now. The funniest thought in all of this is that my local scalpers mounted a concentrated effort to buy up all of THIS FIGURE until today. Choke on em bitches.

Next up, the sky opens and the heavenly hosts deemed us mortals worthy of having the near mythical Marvel Legends Nemesis wave. I was averaging 1 figure every 2 months until my buddy Chris gave a shout about a shipment that must have hit a remote Walmart location. Like the super dork that I am, I jumped into my car and sped down for the scoop up. Luckily, I made off with one of everyone I needed!! Behold the low detail and odd proportions...

YAY mediocrity. And thennnn, we went off to the city and at Times Square Toys R Us, we found 2 of the three refresh packs. Surprisingly, the Storm family two pack looked pretty damn good. Check it...

Now if they gave Tigra Sue's articulation, we'd have a perfect world, wouldn't we? As it stands, Tigra may as well be an ugly Barbie. Sue is no looker either. Another realization was Hasbro's insistence in sparking a revival for the film E.T. through a slight extension in the necks of some of the male figures. Subliminal...

Meanwhile, the Star Wars gods finally smiled on me with one impulse buy and three must haves. The impulse was Cad Bane, the newest bounty hunter bad ass in the world of Clone Wars. I've done a very good job of avoiding the purchase of 30 skinny clone troopers and a crew of Jedi in space suits, so one new baddie wasn't going to kill me. JUSTIFIED!!

and then..there were Ewoks. Don't judge me.

Of course every Ewok needs a bad ass ride, so I had to score the new ATST. ooooo man. New articulation, new paints, new size (making it a 2 seater for date night), swappable guns, all sorts of ports that open...it's just awesome. Finally a vehicle that justifies Hasbro's nasty price increases! I couldn't say the same for the 30 dollar Dewback and Sandtrooper pack. Yes, the new sculpt and size is beautiful, but not 30 dollars beautiful.

Soooo that's it. I won't count the Personal Soundtrack T Shirt as a toy...it's really worth 50 toys. It's like we live in the future. I can walk down the street with St. Elmo's Fire blaring from within my jacket. What a wonderful time to be alive.
