Toy Fair 2025: Diamond Select's Mighty Marvel Lineup

When someone tries to bait you into a heated conversation about your personal geekdom and starts with "Which super hero stuff do you like?" Tell them BOTH KINDS! The Marvel Movies ANNNND the Marvel Comics! Their head will explode. Diamond Select has had their Marvel license for more than a minute and knows exactly what you want to buy..the characters..the format..the scenario..they've got it all locked down. This year's lineup at NY Toy Fair included animated-style statues from Scottie Young art, classic animated busts from the X-Men and Spider-Man cartoon series, diorama statues that slide together to complete a scene, and of course a healthy dose of DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE!! A Classic TV Batman Collectibles Onslaught

When Warner Brothers sells a license..they sell it reaaaal good. Back at Toy Fair 2013, we got to see new Classic TV Batman merchandise coming from NECA and Mattel. Now, Diamond Select and Figures Toy Company join the party.

"Sock! Pow! Whap!"

For decades, those words were synonymous with comic books in the mainstream media, thanks to the fan-favorite depiction of comic book images in the DC Comics 1960s Batman Classic TV Series. Today, Diamond Select Toys (DST) is proud to announce it has teamed up with Warner Bros. Consumer Products (WBCP), on behalf of DC Entertainment, to create high-quality collectibles based on the TV classic, including busts and statues.

Zombify Your Desk with The Walking Dead

It's been a while since we took a look at the zombie collectibles coming soon from McFarlane Toys and NECA (4 months to be exact), so we thought it was time for an update on what you can expect and when with official pictures from both parties. Let us begin the toypocalypse...

McFarlane excited the toy world with their return to the realm of action figure horror they helped spark in the first place. The real worry for the super toy nerds (like myself) was that they would be in a 5 inch format; the scale they have seem to taken a shine to with their HALO figure line. Happily, the lines will be in a 6 inch scale. Sadly, the rest of the zombie action figure world has been in a 7 inch scale (ironically to match McFarlane's Movie Maniacs line), so they'll look a little short. Oh well. You can't deny the level of detail and speaking of which... to pack a little more playability into this line AND remind people who started this plastic gore parade, McFarlane have added their own special effects! Read on!

Gentle Giant Takes On Marvel Comics

The one thing you will never hear any collector say these days would be "WHERE can I find awesome Marvel Comics toys and collectibles??!!" Marvel seems to give out licenses as if they were GoGo Dancer flyers on a NY street corner. This being the case, a lot of junk gets made, so when we hear a favorite company of ours has thrown their hat in the ring, we cross our fingers and hope for a little something different.

Gentle Giant gives us a taste with images of their 7 inch tall Black Cat and Thor busts as well as the most awesome Deadpool statue you've ever seen. I'm going to assume there is some scale difference between Cat and Thor, as GG tends to do things properly. DRINK IT IN!!

Toy Fair 2011 : DC Direct

They may be scaling down and relocating, but they aren't out completely. DC Direct recently sent a note saying their Mass Effect 2 figures have been canceled, and Sideshow Collectibles seems to be positioning themselves as your one stop shop for DC Comics Statues, but the crew is still showing at Toy Fair 2011, so we assume they've got some figures and statues still hitting the pegs! Here's a sampling of what we'll be shooting next week...

Flashpoint Action Figures : Based on DC Comics’ superhero publishing event of the summer. DC Direct’s Jim Fletcher, Shawn Knapp, Evan Metcalf, John Santagada, Brian Walters and Bryon Webster have worked closely with FLASHPOINT writer Geoff Johns’ concepts and artist Andy Kubert’s designs to bring you four awesome figures based on characters central to the FLASHPOINT story. Sculptors Derek Miller (Wonder Woman), Karen Palinko (Batman and Flash) and Jonathan Matthews (Cyborg) have captured the energy and excitement that drives FLASHPOINT.

For those of you who were getting all the Blackest Knight Lantern Rings, this may also be of interest: "FLASHPOINT edition Flash rings will be available at comic book shops this June, with the release of FLASHPOINT #2. To coincide with the release of FLASHPOINT mini series, DC Comics will also be creating exclusive buttons, featuring the reimagined superhero logos of FLASHPOINT. So far only nine of the logos have been unveiled, but there will be buttons corresponding to each of the FLASHPOINT mini series. The buttons will only be available at comic book stores and will not be one of our (many) cool convention giveaways. "

SDCC 2010: DC Direct Pics are UP!

DC Direct/ DC Unlimited action figures, collectibles, busts and statues are located deep in the heart of the DC Comics booth...which means a toy hunter needs to fight his way to the center of the geek scrum in order to take in all that manufactured awesome...and worse still...a geek reporter looking to shoot the lot has to get smacked in the head at LEAST 15 times in order to properly shoot the lower cases...which most of them are. I braved such a gauntlet and risked permanent head trauma to bring back these drool-worthy pics, so make sure you show your buddies and make it worth my loss of my 1982 memories! On tap right now..
