FRANK MILLER Returns to WOLVERINE

Last year, Marvel Comics welcomed back groundbreaking artist Frank Miller! The comic book visionary has been gracing some of Marvel’s hottest titles with explosive variant covers featuring his iconic art. And this August, fans everywhere will be thrilled to see him return to a Marvel super hero he helped revolutionize: WOLVERINE! 

Together with writer Chris Claremont, Miller redefined the character as the superstar headliner he is today with the character’s first-ever solo series in 1982. Now, Miller is back with a new piece that will serve as a variant cover on GHOST RIDER/WOLVERINE: WEAPONS OF VENGEANCE ALPHA #1, the first chapter of a new crossover between Benjamin Percy’s WOLVERINE and GHOST RIDER ongoing series.

NYCC 2022: Ghostrider's Engine of Vengeance @ Marvel

New York Comic Con is in full swing as we speak, with the largest geek-fest on the East Coast finding its sea legs in a post-Covid-lockdown world. While the vibe is said to be significantly different, the enthusiasm of fans hungry to celebrate their fandoms and visit with long-missed friends is evident in every corner of the massive halls. One such missed brother is Matt Booker of the UK based Fanthatracks.com, who sent in these pictures of the latest Hasbro Pulse funding project known as GHOST RIDER: ENGINE OF VENGEANCE. Wolverine, Spider-Man, The Hulk & Ghost Rider Return as the NEW Fantastic Four

In 1991’s FANTASTIC FOUR #347, comic book legends Walter Simonson and Arthur Adams introduced an unforgettable iteration of Marvel’s premier Super Hero team when they teamed up WOLVERINE, SPIDER-MAN, GHOST RIDER, and HULK as the NEW FANTASTIC FOUR. Though their time as the FF was brief, this unlikely group of heroes left a big impact, and now fans will get to return to this special moment in Marvel history in a new limited series kicking off in May. Written by comics great Peter David and featuring the Marvel Comics debut of artist Alan Robinson, NEW FANTASTIC FOUR will be set shortly after the events of the fan-favorite group’s first appearance, taking readers back to a classic era with a brand-new tale in the same vein as hit titles like X-MEN LEGENDS, MAESTRO, and SILVER SURFER REBIRTH.

YOU Choose Marvel Minimates Series 50!

The year 2013 marks the 10th anniversary of Diamond Select Toys' Marvel Minimates line, and will coincidentally see the 50th consecutive series of figures released at comic shops and specialty stores. To celebrate, DST wants to do something to recognize the fans who have supported the line over the years. And since there are so many fan-favorite characters who have yet to be made in the line, they're going to give those fans the power to decide the line-up for Series 50! This series will only be available at comic shops and specialty stores, and will be entirely composed of fan-voted characters!

Over the next four weeks, Marvel.com will present a series of four polls, each representing one group of characters. Poll #1 will be the Main Assault Team, showcasing the Marvel Universe's star players sporting distinctly different looks. Poll #2 will be the Support Team, giving some love to the unsung heroes who have backed up the all-stars over the years. Poll #3 will be the Primary Targets, villain characters who we've never gotten as Minimates or who desperately need a re-do. And Poll #4 will be the Cannon Fodder, army-builder characters who you may want to buy more than one of. The top 1 or 2 vote-getters in each category will be produced for Series 50, and once the line-up is assembled, Diamond Select will create a rare variant figure of one of those characters to round out the assortment!

The New Ghost Rider in Town

If you were following me on Twitter or Facebook during San Diego Comic Con, you got a flurry of Twitpics and among them was a nice look at Ghost Riders new cycle for the upcoming film "Spirit of Vengeance"! Now Sony kick it into high gear with your first look at the ashy, bombed out look for the guy who is hotter than hellfire. Thoughts? Mine would be..Toasty, much? They went for a gonzo super stylized look for his bike in the first film and a fairly true to the comic look for the demon himself. Now we seem to have the charred remains of what could be Ghost Rider? Not sure of the impact its going to have, but if anyone can pull off a sequel to Ghost Rider WITH Nick Cage still in play, its those boys who brought you Crank! Crossing my fingers for something awesome. Here's the story line...

The film sees Johnny Blaze, aka Ghost Rider (Cage), hiding out in remote Eastern Europe and struggling to repress his curse. Blaze is recruited by a sect to take on the devil (Ciaran Hinds), who wants to take over his mortal son’s body on the kid’s birthday.

Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance opens on February 17, 2012.

It's been a while since we highlighted the good good works of Hot Toys, Japanese masters of the art form known as 12 Inch Action Figures. The crew isn't stopping after perfecting the look of a young Charlie Sheen (Platoon) or old Adrien Brody (Predators). OH NO! They've got some random picks on the way that will, at once, make you flinch from remembering how bad the movie was and decide you HAVE to have the most perfect head of Nick Cage ever created. Also on tap for the Asian Toy Gods in the realm of Super Hero badassery is a 1978 Christopher Reeve SUPERMAN!!! Not to take anything away from DC Direct or Mattel's offerings in similar formats from the classic Superman films, but when Hot Toys finally shows off their sculpts, I'm sure people will simultaneously spit out their drinks around the world. Korean Artist Arnie Kim is perfecting the figure as we speak. Look for him this Winter.

Finally Hot Toys have just announced they will be making figures (or figure - singular) from Paramount Pictures' Rango, the tale of a hapless chameleon trying to survive in a dangerous world while in the midst of an identity crisis. Who better to voice a neurotic lizard than Johnny Depp! Hot Toys doesn't take on creatures that often anymore but when they do, it is a sight to behold. Just look up their Predators figures and you'll see why I'm excited to see what they'll do with a chameleon in a Hawaiian shirt.
