Controversial Game 'POSTAL' Gets a Documentary

GOING POSTAL: THE LEGACY FORETOLD
GOING POSTAL: THE LEGACY FORETOLD, a feature-length doc about one of the most scandalized, contested video games in history, is dropping on Apple and Amazon on Friday, May 30. The provocative game by the equally provocative company, Running With Scissors (RWS), remains the most controversial and most banned/blacklisted series of all-time. The new doc is the untamed story of an industry maverick, a divisive cultural icon, and an unwavering dedication to fans.

In addition, the doc will also be available on Blu-ray on May 30; a release on Google and Fandango will follow at a later date.

Going Postal: The Legacy Foretold made its intial debut at the Phoenix Film Festival this year. Eccentric RWS founder, Vince “Desi” Desiderio, and RWS Vice President, Mike Jaret-Schachter, appear along with YouTuber/Gamer “Kommander Karl,” DJ and former adult film star Carter Cruise as well as many more actors, voice actors, leading experts and directors.

Uncensored and unapologetic, the feature-length documentary dives into the chaotic 25-year journey of Postal. In the game, players control of a nameless character obsessed with conspiracy theories and plagued by voices in his head, who embarks on a murderous rampage. While Postal is a fairly “typical” shooting game on its surface, it quickly becomes deeply disturbing. Postal shocked the world with its unfiltered violence and unapologetic dark humor, igniting public outcry, government scrutiny, and multiple bans across the globe. Led by Desiderio and Jaret-Schachter, RWS navigated a minefield of media fury, legal battles, and industry flops. Through ups and downs—including a disastrous Postal 3 release and the triumphant return with Postal 4—the film explores the franchise’s resilience, fan-driven success, and Desi’s defiant message: “Have fun. Regret nothing.”

“This documentary is a labor of love born out of our shared fascination with how the Postal series became a lightning rod for debates about censorship, free expression, and the evolving role of video games as a medium,” Co-director Jason Sikorsky shared.

“As filmmakers, this project has been a transformative experience for us,” added Co-director Ted Sallee. “It has reaffirmed our belief in the importance of telling stories that matter, even when those stories are difficult or divisive. We’re honored to share this journey with audiences around the world and look forward to the conversations it will spark.”

Going Postal: The Legacy Foretold was directed by Sallee and Sikorsky, who also produced. Executive Producers are Matt Hall, Carla O’Brien, Henry Maxwell and Angelica Maxwell. Atreyu Hasenstab is the Assistant Producer with art direction by Danny Adelman.
