NYCC 2025: Overpower Rising at Comic Con

Lazarus Rising Games (LRG) continues its 2025 showcase tour of the surging collectible card game OverPower with a spotlight panel and highly interactive booth at New York Comic Con over the October 9-12 weekend in the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. Entitled “OverPower Rising: Bringing Skybound, Top Cow & Edgar Rice Burroughs to CCGs!,” the panel will take place on Friday, October 10 from 2:45-3:15pm on the Community Stage of Hall 1E. Attendees will get an inside look at the current evolution of the popular CCG of the 1990s and 2000s, driven by a small group of players of the original game who bonded together to purchase the company and reinvigorate the game. Today, they are currently producing new sets that include hot pop culture IPs like Skybound (e.g. The Walking Dead, Invincible), Top Cow (e.g. The Darkness, Witchblade, Cyberforce) and Edgar Rice Burroughs (e.g. Tarzan, John Carter), and utilizing the stellar artistry of comics superstars including Phillip Tan, Marc Silvestri, Joe Jusko, Jae Lee, Adam Kubert, Casey Parsons, Jon Lam, Ito and more.

LRG co-founders Ronald Pozzi and Joseph Gagnepain, who met through their love of the game, will reveal to panel attendees the intricate details of the burgeoning game, giving insight into the latest evolution of gameplay, and unveiling stunning new artwork – particularly 240+ new pieces from the upcoming Skybound set. The panel will also feature original Overpower co-creator Ron Peraza, heralded artists Don Aguillo and Serg Acuna, and some potential surprise guests, along with moderator Gary Miereanu, who will happily reward a handful of lucky panel attendees with Skybound OverPower preview demo decks. All panel attendees will receive an exclusive OverPower enamel pin.

The OverPower convention floor space will be located in Booth #4323, and activities will feature game exhibitions, game-play merchandise (full decks, booster packs, booster boxes, power card stations, starter decks, branded sleeves, binders, hats and beanies), including a special, limited edition play mat, and NYCC exclusive giveaways. Most notably, giveaways available to booth visitors include a starter deck (normally $15 retail) free to any attendee who does a gameplay demo at the booth; the aforementioned OverPower enamel pin; and a special advance promo card from OverPower’s Invincible/Skybound-themed set coming in 2026. The Invincible card – showcasing the titular character Mark Grayson as Invincible – has been created by celebrated artist Philip Tan. Giveaway items will be available while supplies last.

New York Comic Con is the next stop on OverPower’s 2025 tour of popular conventions around the country, which has had a major presence – and enjoyed an embracing, ever-expanding fanbase – at Comic Con International (San Diego), Origins Game Fair (Indianapolis), WonderCon (Anaheim) and PAX East (Boston). The last stop of 2025 will be at PAX Unplugged (Philadelphia) over the November 21-23 weekend. LRG has also executed a soft rollout of the game’s new aspects and cards, including two sets that sold out immediately.
