Toy Fair 2025: Master Replicas Return with Star Trek & More Scifi Goodness

When covering UK Toy Fair, we know coverage will be more luck than skill, as while booths are supposed to be prepared for press, they aren't the most welcoming. This causes Us to put the coverage that comes in, from our friends that have other agendas at the show, into 2 piles. Pile one is where our friend was welcomed into the booth and given time to pour over items. You can see it in the shots. Everything looks fantastic. Pile two we call "Yetis", as in the subject was moving too fast to capture clearly and ..well..you get what you get. Whether our friend was the one moving fast or the booth was not entirely welcoming, we'll never know, but we got some pictures and it's enough to get us excited.

Continuing across the show floor at UK Toy Fair, we ran into our friends at Schleich who gave premium placement to their newest Harry Potter figures! While the first wave of their line concentrated on the core movies and the creatures within, some of these new additions shine a spotlight (or a wand in full Lumos casting) on Fantastic Beasts from the Wizarding World.

Making the most of their smaller scale license, Metal Force puts a 4 inch figure into a 6 inch mech for full on robot battles! Of particular note is an extra large Brainiac DC figure fans will surely be grabbing. Let's take a look at the lot...

Toy Fair 2025: BTHA Announces Top 30 Hero Toys

Toy Fair is back for its 71st year and organiser, the British Toy & Hobby Association (BTHA), is delighted to announce the top 30 Toy Fair’s Hero Toys for 2025. TV personality, Anna Williamson hosted the prestigious awards ceremony live at Olympia London, on the 21st January, posing with winners as they collected their certificates.

Curated by a panel of independent retailers with many years’ experience in buying and selecting toys, the Toy Fair’s Hero Toys winners were specially selected from a total of more than 310 submissions and represent some of the most innovative and inspiring toys coming out of Toy Fair 2025.

In 2022 (maybe 2021..I don't catalog such things), society came back around to embracing the solitary male mustache. As if overnight, young men began looking like the cast of Super Troopers, harkening to a bygone era of spectacular facial hair worn with extreme confidence and a puffed-up, fully hairy chest. Now Playmobil joins in this celebration, honoring one of the most iconic mustaches of all time. That of Magnum P.I., or more specifically, actor Tom Selleck.

Annnnd we're back, digging into that giant pile of UK Toy Fair coverage Matthew Hawkins delivered. Funko always has their own space at this event and are extremely welcoming, so we take the time to shoot everything we can. AS SUCH, you must know it's hard to figure what is new (recently released), from what is new new (has been seen but not in person), and what is super new (never seen before), so Matt shot everything not nailed down. Seemed a logical course of action!

Toy Fair 2022: JAKKS Expands Their HALO Arsenal

Back over to UK Toy Fair where Matt found our awesome distributor buddies at Zappies hosting some of our American friends like Mattel, Noble Toys and JAKKS Pacific! JAKKS had their own little nook where they showed off the latest Sonic the Hedgehog toys (which we'll get to soon) as well as a small pile of concept art for upcoming HALO Remote Control vehicles. Let's check out what your troops will be riding into battle this year... 

Toy Fair 2022: New Bendy and the Ink Machine & FGTeeV Construction Sets

It was 2018 when we last saw Basic Fun introducing the world at large to Bendy and the Ink Machine via their C3 construction sets. Unfortunately, the line didn't last that long and fans of the game were left with few creepy collectibles to haunt their shelves. Flash forward to UK Toy Fair 2022 and Phat Mojo, who set up their lightning rods and resurrected the dead!

No HUGE announcement of a full line of sets and figures as yet, BUT we did catch one construction set in full view. The "Heavenly Toys Buildable Set" comes with 3 buildable mini figures and 383 pieces. Check out the eye candy...

Toy Fair 2022: Phat Mojo Spends Five Nights at Freddy's

I have always believed that it is a sign of an advanced civilization when we allow our children to be super spooky. It happened in the 60's when monster movies were all the rage and model kits, mego dolls and rubber jiggling creeps were in every store window. The 80's and 90's were pretty decent for horror films but censors ruined everything and the toy aisles reflected that. Still, we got some super questionable Freddy Krueger merch, Inhumanoids and other fantastic fiends. Plants vs Zombies reminded big business that kids love to be freaked out by the undead, paving the way for a little game that grew into a massive licensing juggernaut; FIVE NIGHTS AT FREDDY'S!! Though I'm still waiting for McFarlane to make super detailed, fully realized monster versions of those lovable killer animatronics, we've still got Phat Mojo keeping the dream alive.

Our friends at Posh Paws were set up across the pond at UK Toy Fair last week, showing off all that's soft and fuzzy in their world. Among this year's offerings were a killer line of Dream Works plush from movies like Shrek, How to Train Your Dragon, and Kung Fu Panda, a mighty Minion march, a trip down to Sesame Street, and our favorite series that turns monsters into bedtime buddies... Jurassic World! Posh Paws renders the terrifying jaws and slashing claws of the JW Dinos into kid-friendly piles of fluff in a number of scales to suit the needs of any Reptar wrangler. Let's take a look!

Toy Fair 2022: UK Toy Fair’s Hero Toys List

Organizers of the Toy Fair, the British Toy & Hobby Association (BTHA) today announced the winners of Toy Fair’s Hero Toys 2022, with Bandai, Character Options, and VTech amongst the winners at the first Toy Fair since the start of the pandemic.

Used as a barometer for what themes will be fashionable in the year ahead, this year’s Toy Fair's Hero Toys include a selection of popular licenses such as Spider-man, CocoMelon, and Hey Duggee, a range of products that represent family play, and STEM toys including a medical science kit.

Toy Fair 2020: Revell Introduce Top Gun, Iron Maiden and New Star Wars Model Kits & 3D Puzzles

Generally, when you look up toy fair news coverage, you don't see a lot of model kits. This is not necessarily the fault of the outlets, but it's assumed we are all looking for licensed products from mega popular comic books, movies and TV shows. ONLY HALF CORRECT!! Yes, we do all we can to provide coverage of the most popular stuff out there, but we also take care to keep our eyes open for new innovations and companies we've never heard of. Often....they don't include model kits. Honestly, if they are on the show floor somewhere, I've not seen them. In the UK, it's a different story! Revell are always welcoming and since their level of detail is amazing, shooting their products is a no-brainer. When they surprise us with licenses we never thought of before...like...say...an Iron Maiden "Aces High" Spitfire Fighter Plane with a tiny Eddie Pilot...then we are the happiest xtra large children in the world. Toy Fair 2019: JAKKS Expands Their Harry Potter Product Line

JAKKS Pacific are one of those companies that doesn't get a lot of praise or water cooler talk, but are always innovating and surprising. I'm never sure what new licenses they will have on show come February of every year. As the Wizarding Worlds of Harry Potter license stretched out across the global marketplace, JAKKS took a slice of that action with wands for training and blind box wands for collecting and even a game called " Niffler Challenge" straight from "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them". Now Jakks dives deeper into Harry Potter's world with mini figures and playsets!

Seems like this will be the year of shifting licenses! It's funny...you expect things to be a certain way from year to year to the point where the news becomes a little stale. Then one year, McFarlane gets to make DC action figures, Hasbro takes over Power Rangers, Super 7 is driving the reins on Masters of the Universe and everything that was old is new again! Sometimes it takes a new perspective from a different crew to breathe new life into a property. Now TOMY steps up to see if they can make something extremely fun with a WWE license...

Toy Fair 2019: More McFarlane Fortnite Action Figures & Harvesting Tools

Our last run in with McFarlane's Fortnite line revealed the company has complete faith in the staying power of this massive free-to-play battle royale style game. It's not often we see vehicles and accessory packs for any 6 to 7 inch action figure line (beyond NECA, who love to spoil us), but McFarlane has gone all in, showing off a glider attached to a jump pad, a Quadcrasher vehicle and the first weapons "loot pack". Now we've got more news that adds a little more of EVERYTHING!!

Toy Fair 2019: McFarlane's Game of Thrones Nearing Release

McFarlane have been upping their game in regards to crafting and producing of action figures for some time now. Known for amazing sculpting, McFarlane never looked to sacrifice that art by chopping it up and adding ugly joints. Never the less, hardcore collectors demand a high degree of posability in their action figures these days, especially with the rise in popularity of toy photography, and so McFarlane have risen to the occasion.

Game of Throne presents a particular challenge. Dark Horse created a fantastic line of figures, but I challenge you to find more than a point of articulation per figure. Funko took a stab at action figures with actual action, but the line was plagued with quality control problems and fans bailed. Now McFarlane steps up just in time for the final season and I've got high hopes for incredible sculpts and a fair amount of posability. Did we get everything we've been hoping for? Let's find out...

Toy Fair 2019: PhatMojo Embraces the Fear with IT

Let's take a moment to appreciate IT and what it did for horror fans and film makers world wide. Never again will a Hollywood executive be able to look down on horror films as low brow or cast them into a "genre" closet. IT made so much money, every studio has stood up to take notice, and you'd better believe they are putting horror films on their yearly schedule. PhatMojo also took notice of the massive popularity of IT, among horror fans and every day movie goers alike, and answered the call with an excellent rage of collectibles the movie deserves.

Toy Fair 2019: Playmobil Celebrates the Ghostbusters 35th Anniversary

We are trekking along with our UK Toy Fair coverage, now following Mat Hawkins who slid into the Playmobil showroom and was greeted with smiling faces and our favorite boys in grey. Seems Playmobil love the Ghostbusters as much as we do and will be celebrating the 35th Anniversary this May with a range of items for those that missed out the first time around and those who want to continue their collections...
