October Toys Skeleton Warriors Baron Dark Action Figure

He LIVES!!  Well...sort of. From dream to Kickstarter to insanely awesome physical toy in my fanboy hands, the Skeleton Warriors are back, starting with their fearsome leader, Baron Dark! You may (or may not..which is probably more the case) remember the Skeleton Warriors cartoon or the action figure line that turns up at flea markets across the planet ..seemingly every damn day. These fantastically sculpted toys from Playmates were waaaay ahead of their time...and maybe a little too far ahead as parents deemed them too terrifying for their precious children ...and they disappeared into the pile of oddball properties churned out by the 80's and 90's. Now October Toys has teamed up with the original creators of the series with hopes of recreating the freaky fiends with every awesome detail in tact, utilizing a Glyos body system, allowing for superior articulation and easy to pop off parts that you can mix with any other Glyos compatible figure.

Baron Dark comes in at 5 inches tall, boasting 26 points of articulation, removable cape, arm guards and loin cloth and a sword that would make any goth renn faire geek squee with joy. We put the Baron through the paces and were not disappointed with what was surely a labor of love.

The Glyos System, developed by the insanely talented Matt Doughty of Onell Design, is a system for making action figure parts interchangeable. These figures utilize Glybrid style joints, which allows for a combination of traditional insert molded articulation with the swivel based Glyos fit functions. That means you can break these figures apart, reassemble them, and even use the parts interchangeably with other Glyos System brands such as The Four Horsemen’s Power Lords, Outer Space Men, and even classic Onell Design Glyos figures!

 

The Skeleton Warriors return was probably the most exciting toy line announcement of the last 5 years for me, so it was doubly excellent to see it in the hands of fans equally excited with the possibilities.
